  1. Is anyone else doing Extra life this year?

I typically try not to bug people with my personal passions/projects but in the name of helping sick kiddo's i thought id give it a shot.  My link is below as well as some general info about Extra Life. If you can't donate, that's cool, i appreciate y'all taking a look, and if you have an oppurtunity somewhere in your life to help spread the word, I wouldn't hate it. Thanks gang!

I'll be participating in this huge worldwide celebration of the social impact of gamers of all kinds from video games to board games and tabletop RPG's! Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million to help children's hospitals provide critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, research and charitable care. It's my sincere hope that you'll find it in your heart to support my efforts with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.

This is from a recent interview regarding the remains reissues.

Is the reissue project still on? Is there a reissue of Machina: The Machines of God coming?
Yes. The problem is, and I can’t talk about the specifics, but we’re in a dispute with what is now the parent company, which is Universal. Everything has been put on hold. If I told you the truth of it, you’d laugh your ass off, because it’s a classic record company story. I feel bad, because people on Twitter keep asking about it, and people seem to have come around on that record in the last five years. It sounds contemporary again for whatever reason. I do want to put it out, and it takes a lot of time and effort to go through all the tapes. I’ve invested a good 300 hours in preparing the project, and now it’s totally on hold. It is what it is. I’m not mad at anybody. I don’t have time to be mad.

Ah, that makes a little more sense. I wonder if the same "non specific" issue is holding up the Zwan/Solo stuff from coming out?

  3. Lost Wisdom has been out of print on vinyl for a while now. Here is an updated version with a more legitimate LP jacket, a new and better poster, all the lyrics, and a free download. If you don’t already know these recordings, they are special. Julie and Fred stopped in Anacortes for a couple days in 2008, musicians passing through, and recorded these quick and pretty versions of acoustic Mount Eerie songs in a small wooden room on the 3rd floor of an old old building. The voices harmonize and meld well in the room itself before even finding the microphone. Straightforward and powerful.

(ten songs, white vinyl LP, heavy old style jacket, full color double sided jumbo poster on heavy uncoated stock, 34 1/2” x 23”, download card)

Can some kind soul please figure out what Thom is saying in reverse at the end of the song?

reddit seems to agree it;s either "Half of my love" or "heaven will learn"

They're busy reversing it, speeding it up, slowing it down etc.

    For Context:

"At the end of the video, Yorke says something indecipherable. When the audio is isolated, reversed, and sped up, it appears he says something like "every minute, half of my love." Listen to that isolated audio here. It's not the first time the end of a Radiohead video has featured indecipherable speech: The video for "Just" does something similar.

  5. I will gladly retract my statement where i inferred that this reminds me of middle period Coldplay, as i wasn't really trying to infer that the bands sound like each other in any way, which seems to be what most people are taking away from the comment.

I was never trying to bash Radiohead, IMO OK/Kid A/Hail to the Thief is about as solid of a 3 album run as any band could have, the point that i was poorly trying to make is that i didn't feel that the song was engaging in the way Radiohead is often engaging to me. I really dislike King of Limbs but i can say that i felt engaged if not challenged by it. The new song didn't grab me at first, but as this thread continued i couldn't just assume that y'all were just flat wrong so i gave it about 5 more listens on my Audeze's. It definitely grew on me, i tried to focus on the bass and the strings as so many had mentioned here, and i could start to hear the heart of the song revealing itself.

TLDR, sorry for comparing this to Coldplay, at the time i was trying to say that i felt this was undeserving of blind hype, but at the end of the day Radiohead is Radiohead so fuck me.

Punk music is safe. Pop-punk is safe. Emo is safe.

Instrumentally, this song is experimental AF, and hugely inspired by the avant garde work of Steve Reich. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but calling it "safe" says more about you than you know.

You applying absolute truth to an objective word like 'Safe' says the exact right amount about you.
