  1. from Punknews.org In Memoriam: Paul Fox (1951-2007) Paul Fox, best known as the guitarist of influential reggae punks, The Ruts, has passed away at 56 following a battle with lung cancer. Just this past summer, Fox performed with the surviving members of the Ruts and fronted by Henry Rollins. Formed in the late 70s, the Ruts were among the first wave of British punk bands, taking influence from reggae and punk rock and being active in the early anti-racist movement. Though the Ruts were no longer performing, Paul remained active in music, performing with the Dubcats. http://www.punknews.org/article/26136 --------------------------------------------------- In the last few days, some great people involved in music have passed away: Paul Raven of Killing Joke & Prong; Lance Hahn of J Church; and now Paul Fox. Paul's passing is a bit more stunning (even though I am a big Prong fan) due to having heard Henry Rollins talk so highly of him and The Rust when they reunited and asked Henry to sing. :'(
  2. One of the many threads: http://vinylcollective.proboards79.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1192184411
  3. Here are a couple of the Michael Lau Gardener figures:
  4. That etched d-side is sweet! I like it. Is that a code for a download of the album on that insert?
  5. I've been afraid to...dunno why...it's almost like I feel that if I were to use anything glue-like, it will affect the sturdiness of the sleeve...and tape looks tacky...am I the weird one on this?
  6. I know that feeling. I received a copy of ISIS' 'Oceanic' from an eBay seller and there was a 1 inch split in the spine...actually two...one along each edge...it bothered the hell out of me...
  7. Creepy ghoul!!!!!.... Nice touch with the Danzig shirt!!!!! (looks over at avatar)
  8. Damnit!!!!!....Another person that has gotten theirs before me...then again, I'm not home yet...soooo...there is still hope...
  9. The pic is not coming up but that's because of the firewalls here at work. Based on the pic properties, I'm assuming it's the Zombie Wolverine?...I'll check it out when I get home. I'll have to check out which Boba Fett figures I have and may be missing.
  10. Good thread...esp. since it was being talked about on the other board... I haven't actively been collecting anything lately but my collection includes: -Japanese toys (mostly from Anime: Evangelion, Ghost In The Shell, Captain Harlock and pretty much anything in the Leiji Matsumoto universe, Akira, Mazinger, Dirty Pair, and some others) -Michael Lau's CrazyChildren and Gardener figures -Wolverine figures (my prized one is the Secret Wars action figure...first Wolverine figure ever...still mint in mint package) -Some Star Wars. It's a huge endeavor to collect so I am picky on which ones...mostly Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, and Darth Vader. -McFarlane Spawn and some random others including The Maxx. -Some SLU's...mostly hockey. That's all I can think of for now.
  11. I'm gonna stop worrying...not that I was before...and just see if they come in...
  12. Awesome. Hopefully mine will have come in also when I get home.
  13. I was pleasently surprised by Inoxia when I ordered the ISIS records from them. They were perfect. Granted, the records themselve kinda slit the inner sleeves but those were pretty paper anyways...
  14. Funny that you mention your transition... I started out with being hardcore into comic books...around the mid-90's I stopped because I got tired of the while multiple covers shit that publishers started to pull. Then I focused on collecting action figures and different types of toys: McFarlane, Japanese, SLU (mostly hockey), and a bunch of others. Then that market got saturated. And now the focuse has been vinyl. Granted, I have been collecting and listening to vinyl since the late 80's or so but in the past 3-4 years it has been an intense hobby. And let's not even mentione my stumbling upon VC...now that's making the spending even more so... But at the end of the day, it's fun and entertaining.
  15. They encourage dressing up here at work...which I find strange since I work for an insurance company... I watch scary movies by myself so it doesn't get limited to just Halloween. For this year, I'm going to do what I do every year: work and then come home to deal with the trick-or-treaters...fun times..
  16. To me it depends on the record I guess... If I buy it whent it gets first released from either label, band, or even store, I'd expect for it to be in great shape as it's brand new. If the sleeve/cover is a bit dinged up in the corners and whatnot, I won't care too much...as long as the record itself is OK and plays fine. Now, if I get a record via trade or sale (eBay, another collector, etc.) and pay a great amount, I'd be even more upset if the cover is not in anything less than great shape. This is just the OCD collector in me talking now. I'd expect it to be in perfect shape. It's almost as if I forget that it's all about the music itself in the end. The music fan side and OCD collector parts of me are always at odds with each other. It's a lot due to my hobby of toy collecting (mostly Japanese action figures and whatnot) in which the shape of the packaging is crucial in affecting the value of the piece. I know...I'm a mess...
  17. I seems people have been able to order multiple copies. I ordered two and so far so good. No emails saying it was cancelled or anything. Only time will tell.
  18. I agree with you roadmonkey... There has been mention by Angela Petrelli and Hiro's father of the "Original 8"...so the picture is a major clue on who they are and how they may or may not be connected. I feel that each and every character is connected at some level. Some more than others of course. We started to see this when Linderman started to become to common factor in all of the characters last season...they each somehow had a connection with him; directly and indirectly. The plot is indeed thickening this season. But on that same token, some plot "threads" are getting drivent o the ground...I am not getting much more interested in Claire's whole rebellion, "I am who I am and don't care what my daddy says" nonsense...and then the brother and sister trying to get to the U.S. is getting a bit drawn out. I guess that's why the writers decided to throw in Sylar into that mix to see what happens.
  19. One thing I just thought of...if it's like this here at VC...ya know, the whole anxiety thing about ordering it and not being in "shipped" status, etc...I'd love to see how it's really like over at the street team forum and ap.net board with all the "uber-fans" and whatnot... (By the way...I did check over there but no rumblings outside of the whole "Oh my God! It's on sale!" and "I can't believe that damn guy bought 10+ copies!"...always funny shit)
  20. Jesus guys, we've been over this. : You know we love to beat a dead horse! :
  21. I agree with you Ben...but sometimes it has to be clearly stated to ease the anxiety of some people. I am kinda torn about this...part of me doesn't give a shit if it were a repress...just happy to have it in wax...but the psycho collector in me, wants to me make sure it's the damn 1st and only press.
  22. That has got to be a rather big box of records that they "found" over at Triple Crown if they're selling more...
