I just do not understand why so many kids...granted, they're all the pseudo-Goth, scenester kids...are into this band...they're so generic and lame sounding...oh well. -

Your BEST customer service experience w/ Vinyl ?
jhulud replied to impact's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Current experiences: Vinyl Collective...although there has only been one so far and off eBay. Verydistro has the potential to prove great once I get in the package that is on its way. Previous: All orders with now-defunct Initial Records. They always threw in sampler cd's, stickers, and or other wacky stuff...They used to do a "Party Polaroid" with every order over $50.00....what they would was take a Polaroid pic of the guys in the mailorder department packing your order and then at the bottom of the pic they would write "This order has been put together for_____ by _____." It was some funny stuff. One order I placed way back in early 90's with Doghouse Records (before they got together with Lumberjack distro) when I placed an order for an Endpoint long-sleeve t-shirt....they were sold out of long-sleeves, so they sent me a short-sleeved one and to make up for it, they threw in 3 7" records and stickers. It was cool. -
MINUS THE BEAR “Planet of Ice” dbl LP repress

I will be just as bold and agree with that. -
I agree...In the end I would have been satisfied with a reply of any kind...but he went one step further by admitting to the goof-up and even further by making up for it...I can't wait to see what the "goodies" may be...

How much time do you spend on this board?
jhulud replied to jhulud's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I'm the same way Scott...I find myself hitting 'refresh' to see what's updated and which threads are most active...plus I would hate to miss out on any possible trades and/or pre-orders. -
I am curious to see how much of your internet time do you spend watching/contributing to this board? I am mostly on it for the duration of my time at work. Not the entire 8+ hours...but I leave the board open on one of my IE windows.

Chiodos - Bone Palace Ballet on vinyl
jhulud replied to scottheisel's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
You're thinking of "Doppelganger," their older album; "Manipulator" is their new album. Scott beat me to the response...damnit! Loren (from this board) was the one selling it. I think she still has it shown in her flickr slideshow but noted as 'sold'. -
So I got a reply from Jamie and he said that it was a mix-up with the description of the item but he has added some extra goodies on my next order which was sent out today to make up for that goof-up...sweet!

The "What do you do for a living thread"
jhulud replied to thomas's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I'm a stand-up philosopher... Actually, I'm a corporate lackey/trained monkey in the claims department for an auto insurance company. Yeah, I'm the guy you talk to and tell him what happened in the accident, who's at fault and all that craziness. From time to time I go out on the road to body shops and whatnot to write estimates on vehicle damages. Most of the time it's OK and I get to learn about cars...but when it sucks, it sucks miserably. And to think I went to college and got a degree in Communications with a minor on abnormal psych. Oh well. That's life for ya! But hey...it pays the bills and allows me to feed my vinyl habit. -
That is just plain fucked up!

How about Fall of Troy's "Manipulator"? -
Very just recently made it clear that all vinyl will be shipped unsealed to customers as they are doing so to ensure what color vinyl it is. But if the customer wants the records they order to remain sealed, they have to say so in the comments box when placing their order.

Is it that pricey and hard to find?

MINUS THE BEAR “Planet of Ice” dbl LP repress
jhulud replied to a topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I hope not...that's what the greedy, elitist, record collector asshole in me says... -
I got AFI's 'decemberunderground' 12" and Overcast 'fight ambition to kill' 12" Not bad for me...
-
I just received an order from them and one of the records was supposed to be purple vinyl and hand-numbered...but what I got was neither. Sent them an email...I'm hoping they will respond.
-
Lately I have leaning towards other genres outside of hardcore and punk...but I will never stop listening to hardcore and punk altogether...now that is just crazy.

victory records vs. revelation - heyday battle
jhulud replied to robotnerd's topic in Everything Else Message Board
I used to be a Victory whore back in the day...mostly in the early to late 90's...then their roster started to really just let me down. All the bands did not stand out and were very blah. But I have to agree that Rev has had more consistency with their releases and quality of music their bands have been putting out. If forced to vote...I'll say Revelation. -
Not home yet...so I am hoping some goodies when I get there...
