  1. Gimme Something Good has been available on Gold vinyl for a while - l know the pressing number was listed at a store or two - but now I am at a loss to find it. I want to say 1500...

Still available from Bull Moose and most other record stores online.

Yes, we still have some left. At $15, it's kind of only for the diehards.

We have extras of Blue Light in case anybody missed out.

  2. Go for it! I mean, if your worried about it, I have no problem making it, but if you do you have total thread control (i.e. you can change the title to the current PO, sale, or whatever the case may be). As judgemental as this place can be (see my signature), I don't think anyone will care if you guys have your own thread.

Sounds good. I'll start a thread the next time we have something exciting to announce. Thanks for the advice.

    Chris

  3. I for one would greatly appreciate you posting preorders here. I'd much rather order from you guys than most other places. I doubt many here would consider it spam as you guys are pretty well liked around here (& justifiably so).

    Thank you!

You all have good prices, so I see no issue with you making a thread and keeping us updated.  I have seen people freak out a little when preorders go up before a record has even been officially announced (ie SRC putting up the most recent Tigers Jaw record really early).

Good point. I'll be careful not to talk about things before we are supposed to.

We do it constantly. Maybe start a BM preorder thread and notify relevant threads (i.e. the Official Ty Segal thread) in the event something would interest that thread. Most likely if you just put it in a BM Preorder thread, other people will share it. There are 2-3 Modest Mouse threads right now for specific releases/ represses, but all of those are being discussed in each one...for example.

That sounds good. Do you think I should start the thread or would it look better if somebody else did?

The only members who were web store representatives that got flack for doing what you're proposing were the ones who straight up lied and pretended to be the only source to get certain MOV exclusive colors and adding a hefty price tag and one who offered awesome prices and got straight up banned for juxtaposing their awesome price with SRC's comparatively high price with a pretty good amount of insolence included in their later posts.

The members (outside of SRC management) chastised the former and they've hardly been back. The latter was chastised by SRC management (and banned as I previously mentioned) but loved by the non-staff members for the their awesome prices. The latter is also no longer in business RIP :(

I'm not naming any names on purpose.

Bullmoose is a shop that the community here loves and I think we would all welcome a regularly updated thread.

Thanks for the advice there. I will make sure to respect our hosts, SRC.

That would be fabulous. :)  If available, Bullmoose is my go-to for all pre-orders (ironically, I just received notification from you about the clear Sufjan).

    Nice! Thanks!

  4. I think I have five active preorders through you right now. All really good stuff that I can't wait to get too. Btw, any updates on those Homogenics on a boat somewhere in the Atlantic?

It's definitely the time of the year for pre-orders. No, unfortunately, we haven't heard anything since we were told the Bjork reissues were on their way here. I think MOMA gets first shot at them and then indie stores get whatever they don't need. There is supposed to be a second pressing after that.

You know us too well. ;)

Early preorders are a big help. They let us know how many to order and makes it a lot more likely we can get enough for people who didn't preorder. That's how we end up with extra copies of things like the clear Sufjan Stevens that will be released Tuesday.

Quick question. We have been reluctant to mention pre-orders here and just hope another forum member notices them. Would you all like me to post things that may be of interest? I'd prefer not to spam. This forum has been good to us and I want to find the line between making sure people know what's coming out vs. being spammy. What does everybody think?

  5. Just ordered from Bull Moose, fingers crossed I actually get it. Also I'm the same as everyone, hopefully I can get my hands on a RSD one.

You should be fine. We've been able to confirm how many we will receive and we will be able to take care of everybody who preordered so far. We probably will have to stop within the next few days. Of course, I'm assuming that there are no manufacturing or shipping problems.

  6. Yes. & for $10 more it just makes it silly. & guaranteed to sell super fast

    Thanks for the feedback.

Actually makes sense. Now people may buy another record or two to get free shipping.

We forgot about that when we lowered the price. We just thought it would be cool to drop the price for the first week or preorders. People who preordered for $27.97 should get an email soon saying they will be charged $24.97.

  7. Can't find this info anywhere so maybe someone here will know.

The live Bedhead live in Chicago LP is listed as a regional release. But which region? lol Texas? Chicago? I will be out of town/traveling that weekend so I'm not putting much effort into getting any releases on the actual RSD but I do see that Bullmoose does not have that listed.. :( Any ideas where that will be for sale?

I see it on the RSD site but not on any of the internal lists. I don't think we were even solicited for this one so I don't have any info to share. Sorry about that.

In general, the Limited Run/Regional Focus designation doesn't mean that RSD is limited distribution to a specific region. The purpose is to let you know that not many are being made, often because the artist only has regional fame. It's not that stores outside an artist's home territory won't have it. They can order if if they think they can sell it. Releases that are truly limited to a certain area don't make the list.

  8. As far as I know, the 5/5 release is just a normal release and prefect for people who miss out on the RSD version or don't have an extra $10 to spend on all the extras. Both are 180gram 2LP sets.

Quick question for everybody. Do you think this should have been classified by as an RSD First release or does the paper bag, special jacket, lyric book, sticker sheet and patch make this special enough?

  9. I had no idea Bull Moose/Chris is a member here... the more you know

Somebody else from Bull Moose actually started this account but we haven't done much with it. I plan to be a bit more present here than in the past. Thanks.

They very slightly messed up shipping on an order of mine, then rectified it beyond all expectations.

Good guys/gals they are. Wish I lived near one  :/

    Glad to hear it! Thanks

  10. So the Elvis record Third Man is supposedly putting out isn't on the list. Unless I totally missed it. Makes me wonder if it'll only be available AT TMR like the Lazaretto 7" from last year.

Items that are exclusive to only one store, like this one, don't make the list. If so, the list would be filled with local releases most stores could never order. For example, a Maine band named Tall Horse is releasing a single on VHS on 4/18 this year. You probably don't that cluttering up the list.

There will be a black vinyl version of the Elvis later in the year.

Dang, Bullmoose doesn't have info on Gwar or Polaris yet. Those are my two most wanted titles too. I don't want to have to go to Newbury Comics -__-. (I'm sure it'll be there eventually though)

There are a few smaller stores around me that come up on the search on RSD's site so I'll probably call them and see what they will be ordering/getting

At least the KMD album will be reissued again. I almost bought one the other day but I'd rather a brand new copy.

Sorry about that. We have that info up now.

So is the Merzbow split not happening? I didn't see it on the list

    It's a 4/28 release.

Which is why they should at least allow the stores to pre-order based on what their customers might want. Making stores blindly order stuff before they even officially announce the list to the public is ridiculous. These are records not national security secrets.

You know, we actually get good enough details on most releases most of the time. Certainly not always, and there are always surprises, but stores that sell a good amount of new music should be able to come pretty close. Maybe not every music buyer has heard of every artist Victory and Sundazed will release, but they should know generally whether or not their customers like hardcore or obscure old rock/psych/country.

What I noticed after going through Bull Moose's list is how much everything is being inflated?! Why is every 7" $9 and every 10" $15 now it seems.

There actually was some push back behind the scenes against more expensive 7"s this year. A few stores give advice on the releases and I remember several people asking "why does this 7" need to be more than $10?" I think we even turned down some 7"s because they were too expensive.

More info on the process is here, for those who are interested in how the US list was made.

I think that Metallica tape has been misquoted as well, pretty sure it's only 1,000

We were told it really is 10,000. That seems about right to me considering the historical value of the material and the $9 price.

It's probably just being released on that day just not under the banner of RSD

Yes. See my comment above about expensive 7"s.

    Chris

  11. Just when we thought flippers couldn't get worse. Pretty crazy to want to pay $250 to join a flippers club. It would be awesome if bull moose could find who they were/their orders and cancel or ban them.

That would be great. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do that without getting in everybody's business in a very unpleasant Big Brother way. Thoughts, anybody?

  12. They do stop pre-orders at a certain point. But yeah, no guarantees is what they say....

I interpret that as they have a general idea of how many they are getting. They may get shortchanged, but they are confident enough (probably given their stature) that they can do a web sale.

    But ordering earlier is better.

Yes, it's definitely better. Our final allotment is somewhat in question, but we'll take care of people in the order they ordered. It was great to see how many people deciphered our cryptic Tweet about the presale.

  13. This whole situation really sucks for non US residents. I'm sorry but I still don't get it..why it is so hard nowadays to ship a record to Europe?

    Expense and hassle.

Unfortunately, that's more-or-less true. There's also more credit card fraud with international orders. We learned this the hard way with our old website years ago.

Of course, it's not just one order. It would be thousands of orders, so all the little things that international orders require become a huge project. There's a lot to it. We apologize to all the people who are frustrated that we don't ship outside the US. We will get you the full Bull Moose experience some day, but we need to take care of a bunch of things first.
