  1. There is a indie store exlusive with a slipmat being sold as well for this release, I havent found any info on the web if it's just the regular album with a slipmat or if it will be similar to the other indie exclusives theyve done with special art or colored wax and a slipmat.

I've been curious about this, too...wonder how we can obtain an answer?

Chris from Bullmoose might have an idea on it. I know his last album had a special "bootleg" edition when it first came out with a different cover.

I'm curious about this album. I have loved Isbell's work since I heard Decoration Day and he is an amazing player and writer but I feel like a lot of people will be let down because it wont be Southeastern Pt.2.  The fact that it is also around $30 bums me out as well.

I'm 99% sure it's black vinyl. The slipmat is the only difference between the indie version and the standard version.

  2. Got my Red copy via BullMoose.

I'm seeing on eBay that the red copies are /1000. Any validity towards that? Wondering if the indie store exclusive version of Ben Folds Five reissue that was done via ORG not too long ago is also /1000

Offspring is /1000. The orange BFF was /600. BFF went so quickly that we asked ORG to make more copies of Americana. It's nice to see that so many people are happy with these records.

  3. Oh Bullmoose, that was not directed at you at all. I was one of the few that put my PO in with you guys and the board went nuts saying that all of us putting in POs were crazy because it would be wildly available. You guys did a great job, especially since my PO is in transit for delivery.

    Thanks again!

It would have been OK if it was directed at us. We were surprised too. Obviously, you and a bunch of other people correctly predicted this would sell out.

I'll tell you something. Pre-orders always are a good idea. They help us predict how many copies we need, so you're a lot more likely to get what you want if we know in advance. That's probably true at any store.

Yeah Bullmoose has a pretty good track record around these parts. bullmoose, do the distributors say that more are being pressed, or is this initial shipment it for the time being? Curious to hear your thoughts

We haven't discussed it. If you consider that it can take three months to press a record, it's pretty unlikely that there could be any more copies in the pipeline in the next few weeks.

  4. Anyone remember all the hate last month when all the POs went up at Bullmoose?

    Its widely available they said

It will be easy to get they said

Looks like we were pretty wrong about that, doesn't it? From what I hear, demand was far far beyond what was anticipated. Let's hope they repress it.

  5. Chris' video showed the Anthony Phillips release.... thought it was UK only. Really hope my store gets that.

It's UK only. The LP I showed was one I bought long ago from a 3/$1 bin. The box with the 2 CDs and the DVD-A was released in the US last week.

Anthony Phillips isn't on any of the lists of UK titles that appear to be sneaking their way into the US. I love that album and I hope you find it somehow. Based on a casual listen, the 5.1 mix is at least very good. It might be amazing but I wasn't able to focus. Everything sounded just right, if you know what I mean. Check it out if you do surround sound.

  6.

Imagine if the Bull Moose video didn't show Deja

    how angry people would be

No kidding. Unfortunately, I will only be able to show the outside as I wasn't able to get a copy to open up. That's probably a good thing because it means one more person will get to buy it somewhere.

Glad to hear it. Now if they'd repress Don't Know How to Party.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do that if this year's one sells OK.

Could you show the Jurassic 5 'Quality Control' box set in your RSD video?

I really hope to. It hasn't arrived yet, unfortunately, and I will be filming the video this weekend. Let's all hope it comes in today's UPS. Like Brand New, I won't be able to open it, but at least we can see how sturdy it is, what the box looks like, etc.

  7. would REALLY be sick if you could get me Pity Sex, Pianos, Camera Shy 7"s

Great ideas. Gotta support a localish label!

I'd love to see the Simple Minds double-LP live album. Is it true the Tears For Fears 12" got cancelled? Also, your site mentions two prices for the Ivy "Guestroom" LP - why?

Yes, Tears for Fears was cancelled. I didn't hear why, however. It looks like we have two listings for Ivy because there was some question somewhere about whether they used the old UPC or created a new one. Sorry for the confusion there. I don't think the Simple Minds record will make it here for the video. That might be hard to find in the US because of the price and how it is being sold to stores.

To derail from everyone's unethical ways, does anyone think that Mighty Mighty Bosstones release will be hard to find?

Answer this and resume your confessions.

    Bosstones should be no problem.

  8. Did i miss Chris' video?

I'll post it very late Sunday night or Monday morning. I'll need the weekend to work on it. I did two short videos on Periscope earlier, but only people who were already following @bullmoosevinyl on the Periscope app could see them.

Lol, well someone at Stevehoffman emailed RSD and got this back.

Yes, we are aware of this jerk and have turned her into the artists and labels who made these RSD records. The artists and labels are now trying to get ebay to take down this listing. Ebay is a secretive organization, that will not allow RSD to speak to a human being or to get help. It sucks but this is the world we live in. If you feel compelled, please let others know that RSD does everything in its power to stop greedy people like this.

I'm glad Michael posted this. Does anybody know anybody high up at eBay that could help us with this?

What a piece of shit. Set up some fake ebay accounts then bid every listing through the roof so no one will buy any of them.

Also, I believe that you can see contact info if you bid. If anybody does this, then you might want to send the seller's contact info to the contact info on the RSD website. Then the stores where this person must be thinking she/he can get the records can be warned. This happened a bit last year and I had the fun of speaking with a teenager who planned to buy from Bull Moose for resale. He was pretty freaked out when he realized he wasn't anonymous.

  9. People in this thread thought it would be good if we began posting when we hear of interesting items. We don't really do our own exclusives, so you should be able to find these items other places. Let me know if this seems spammy and I'll stop. Hopefully, this will be a helpful source of info and you can buy them wherever you usually buy stuff.

    First up:

Torche - Restarter on green/purple "merge" vinyl. We were told that 200 would be available to stores, but someone just said on Twitter they thought there were 1000. Maybe you can also get this from the band or Relapse. Here's a link if you're interested. Stores should have these in a few days.

  10.

Bull Moose appears to have updated their RSD page today
    http://www.bullmoose.com/c/12770/record-store-day
    :)

I love that you posted that entirely without comment.

I like that they listed the Kozelek 5+ times at all different prices.

Just watch, now we won't get any of the RHP box!

It seems like you post the preview videos the Monday of that week or is there no set date??

Very observant of you! Yes, usually get them up the Monday before. That's the goal again this year.

  11. Does anyone have any further detail on the Steve Reich release? It seems very expensive (in the UK at least) for a 2xLP

This is what we have on it:

The 1998 Nonesuch recording of the landmark minimalist work of the 20th century, Music for 18 Musicians, available on vinyl for the first time. Pressed at Pallas MFG, Diepholz, Germany on two 180g LPs, with old-style double pocket gatefold jacket. Mastered for vinyl by Robert C. Ludwig, Gateway Mastering, Portland, ME. Lacquers cut by Chris Bellman, Bernie Grundman Studios, Los Angeles, CA.

The Ludwig/Bellman/Pallas combo does add to the price, but you know the mastering and pressing will be amazing.
