  1. The Afghan Whigs always did awesome cover songs. They bring out the gloom in songs like "Band of Gold" and "Come See About Me" that had upbeat music originally.
  2. Which Jeremy single are you looking for? 7" (US or import?) or 12"?
  3. that's definately not true. it's possible they WANTED to only release it on vinyl. but i bought it on cd the day it was released, so it was never released as vinyl only. The vinyl was released two weeks before the CD. That might be how the rumor got started. Did anybody else buy major label releases in the 90s? I sure miss the vinyl occasionally coming out AHEAD of the CD. Hell, I miss vinyl coming out at the same time as the CD. It seems like we have to wait weeks, months, or years for the vinyl versions anymore.
  4. Same here. Were all 100 copies on black? Is the cover any different than the regular release (besides the numbering?)
  5. From Recess Records website: Also, Recess will be the proud presser of the classic Screeching Weasel LP's! The first reissue, Boogadaboogadaboogada, will be out this fall I had no idea this was happening! When Screeching Weasel left Lookout for Asian Man, I e-mailed Ben Weasel to find out if the vinyl would be re-pressed as well. He said no, so I snatched up all the albums before they went out of print. But still, I'm glad to see these will be back in print!
  6. My fondest memories because they'll never happen again: 1.) Pre-fame Goo Goo Dolls at the old Peabody's to a crowd of 100-200 2.) Afghan Whigs at the Odeon 3.) Alkaline Trio opening for HWM and playing to about 10 of us at Club Laga 4.) Ted Leo (tie between old Grog Shop and Brew House) 5.) Snapcase (any time, anywhere) 6.) Against Me!(some tiny place in Cleveland I can't remember)
  7. I've never had air conditioning and I've never had a problem. I've just always made sure that they are positioned in the room so that sunlight never directly hits them. And that's usually only a big concern with a massive amount of records with limited storage options.
  8. Pearl Jam's ode to vinyl is amazing. Hard to believe someone put my love for vinyl into words. Anyone who hasn't heard it needs to track it down immediately. Same goes for anyone who didn't know what it was about. Don't even bring up the alleged "it's about drugs" thing, either. Only non-vinyl enthusiasts would believe that. Then again, I don't do drugs... Anyways, let's hear it for this fantastic song!!
  9. Since you asked... Personally, I prefer awesome and mushy CDs to be separate, but two thumbs up on the RFTC tune Acoustic Snake Oil Tanker is the only Trio song you'll put on a mix for her? Hope she's already familiar with them Word to the wise: Girls lose their shit over Greg Dulli and with good reason. Track down some Afghan Whigs and/or Twilight Singers and you'll be in business.
  10. My latest drunken sing along song with friends is "Africa" by Toto. Awesome. My girlfriend thinks we're retarded but what does she know. "Gonna take a lot to drag me awaaaaaaaaay from yooooooooou"
  11. My post was copied and pasted from the band's myspace page. So if it's not green vinyl, it's their fault

  13. PS = Picture sleeves. Are you requiring that the singles have the picture sleeves?
  14. You demanding the PS with the 7"s? Or don't you care?
  15. i went to minds eye and the guy working was an funny cute old foreign man haha i hope it wasnt the same guy that was a dick nope
  16. My suggestions: 1.)Make people earn it. In 100 words or less, explain why you should be collector of the month. Virgil can pick the best submission and we'll (presumably) get an interesting read out of it. 2.)Set some criteria (# of records owned, etc.) and pick a name out of a hat from the candidates. In the future you can go back to those for months you don't know who to pick 3.) If you're worried about alienating people with small collections, put every registered users name in a hat and pick one. Contact the person and gauge their interest. If they don't feel their collection is worthy, repeat the process.
  17. I went to My Mind's Eye for the first time a couple months ago. Good store but the guy working there was a dick
  18. I thought all US copies were on gray. And I've never seen one sealed without a sticker indicating it was on colored vinyl. But I'm not a huge fan, so I wouldn't know for sure. I just remember seeing it for years and years in stores everywhere
  19. By no means am I suggesting that this is the case with him, but I can buy all the shit I want and not pay for it. Credit cards!
  20. Wow, that's shitty. Couldn't hurt to ask if you could return them if you really don't want them. But I guess he didn't technically misrepresent them.
