Crap, of course now that I get paid the orange is out of stock. Any chance anyone is looking to sell one?
-
Sweet! I'm pumped now, gonna order ASAP!

Sounds really interesting, could you post a pic or two? I haven't ordered yet because I'm waiting for a check to come in, so I've been trying to decide between black and orange.

I think if I were buds with Max, regardless of how this album turns out, I would suggest either scaling back or ending Song Shop, taking a year or so off touring and writing, and just take time to relax and be a dad. I really do think he's spreading himself too thin and wearing himself out. When his best work (according to the vast majority of people) was being made, that was pretty much all he had going on (besides drugs and sex, but, y'know...), whereas now he's a husband, a father, runs a label imprint, writes comics, runs Song Shop, and works on three band projects. I'm glad he's getting to do so many things he loves (he deserves it), but it seriously is a ton of stuff and I think it'd be beneficial to take some time to reassess. Personally, I hope we don't see the end of Say Anything for a long, long time, but I wouldn't be offended if we didn't hear anything for 3 or 4 years if he came back with a killer album. All that being said, Six Six Six is undeniably growing on me. Still feels weak, but I am enjoying it.

For those who haven't heard, the full album is streaming on NPR now. I'm mostly impressed by it, but the second half is definitely weaker in my opinion. Still definitely gonna pick it up, though.

Yeah, I'm pretty legit bummed... Never felt this let down by Max before. I mean, it's not terrible, but... it's far from his strongest work. I'm kinda pissed about the no guitars thing... after Anarchy I hoped this would be back on track with their traditional punk sound. Also I fucking hate keyboards 95% of the time. Also, I guess I kinda assumed the artwork was going to be along the lines of what was on that tour announcment, which was okay. The actual artwork is definitely not my thing, so that's a bummer too.

Pre-orders are up for the debut LP from indie-orchestral-pop-rock band PHOX. $15 + shipping for the LP on cokebottle green. First 250 pre-orders are signed. The (very impressive) new single can be heard here. Saw these guys on tour with Typhoon a few weeks ago and was blown away. For a young band they definitely know what they're doing. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of this album.

Yes!!! ...But seriously, brown splatter is not a very helpful description, come on Interpunk. -
What! What! Gonna pick up a black when I get the dough, since I already have ESR on white.

I apologize if somebody else posted this earlier and I missed it, but it appears that Amazon got a hold of the deluxe LP set and is selling for $56 with free shipping. Should help those who were on the fence about the deluxe but didn't wanna blow $70+ on it. There's a chance this could be a mixup on Amazon's part, but it seems like it's the real deal.

The way I see it, S/T was the arena rock album. It's largely built around distorted guitar chords, whereas Anarchy is built more around clean guitars and beats. Every SA album has aspects of pop and aspects of punk, but essentially have their own base style.
-
I'm not sure anyone hating on the title has a decent grasp of who Max Bemis is. The guy oozes weird and still makes it work. It's just him. I don't see myself ever hating a SA album, so I'll likely be preordering unless the lead single is truly worrisome. Sure, Anarchy is the album I listen to least of theirs, but it still has some really great songs. I also think it's important to remember that no two SA albums are really alike... Anarchy was Max's pop album, and I don't think we'll be seeing a repeat.

A lone copy of Interpol's "Our Love to Admire" at Horizon Records in Greenville, SC for $8. Found it right before meeting my now-girlfriend for our first date, so, that was a pretty damn good day.

Context made it seem like a tour variant. I love my purple copy and really ought to not get a double, but that really is an attractive variant. For those who haven't seen:

New Wye Oak album out April 9th. Pre-order black or orange haze vinyl here. New song, "The Tower" here. For those that haven't heard, they've completely abandoned guitar on this record and instead replaced it with bass and more keys. It took me a couple of listens to wrap my head around the new sound, but I dig it. Edit: Dammit, how did a search not bring up the other topic? Delete please.
