PO: Lorde - Pure Heroine
rcafilm replied to Green Tea Papi's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Girlfriend got me into this a couple days ago. Seems like it would be a real winner on wax. Probably gonna wait and see if I can get it at a better price after release, though. Also curious to see if this pressing gets a decent treatment or not... who knows with Universal. -
Brand New - TDAGARIM repress in 11/4
rcafilm replied to futre's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I meant in the sense of owning a record just to own it. If I buy this record, I wanna be able to play the shit out of it and enjoy it. It's been in pretty heavy rotation for me over the past year, so it would break my heart to have it end up being one of those pressings that you just have to give up on and listen to digitally (I'm looking at you, Letlive's The Blackest Beautiful). Seems like most people are quite happy with the sound quality, though, so that's a relief. Probably gonna order it on my next paycheck. -

Bullshit-free post ahead: As someone who has only come to love this album within the past year or so and therefore does not have any other pressing of it, is this MoV pressing worth dropping ~$40 on, or should I wait to see if another pressing comes along? To me, the sticker thing is a bit of a pain in the ass and the ripped sleeves aren't optimal, but the important thing is the sound quality. For those of you who have this pressing, would you recommend it as worth listening to? I really want this album on vinyl, but I'm not gonna pay $40 just to add it to my collection. Carry on. -
Wow. That looks like ass. I hope they picked the worst of the 4 sides to take a photo of. But still, there's only like a 5% chance I'll ever pick this up now. Damn picture discs.

I was a bit puzzled by that, is it a new Misser album or a new side project? Either way I enjoyed it.

PO: Perma - Two of a Crime
rcafilm replied to AdventureIsOutThere's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
After hearing the album I'm on the fence about a vinyl purchase. I think several of the songs would song fantastic on wax though. If anyone could comment on the sound quality and post pics, it'd help me out. -
10/10 would buy shit straight out of

Ugh, can we just have a 7" of Kuroi Ledge? -
I would buy the shit out of that if they didn't overprice it too badly.

Childish Gambino - Because The Internet

3005 has its moments, but I'm not impressed by Worldstar at all. Really hoping Donald hasn't gotten lazy with this one, but it's looking that way so far...- 573 replies

Interpol - "Interpol [Deluxe]" Interpol - "The Heinrich Maneuver" Loving that the LP was mastered at 45. Silky smooth.

http://diffuser.fm/a-lot-like-birds-no-place-exclusive-album-premiere/ So far not anywhere near as impressed as I was with Kuroi Ledge, but I'm only a few songs in. -
Rest in peace, The Chariot.

PO: Everything In Slow Motion - Phoenix (Ex-Hands)

I really dig the artwork. Not real thrilled with the blue, though... I think cokebottle or even just clear would have fit much better. -

Really dug the first 2 songs he put out, but this one seems a bit flat for me. Hoping this release turns out as exciting as the first 2 songs were. -
Interpol - Interpol www.matadorrecords.com/mp3promotion.php UPC: 744861094517 Code: INT2W2PKCT5 (Got the LP used along with the CD so I suspect the download is unused, but don't know for sure)

PO: Schematic - Color (n.) Inside The Lines
rcafilm replied to oasisish's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Are there any other songs out besides Stand? I'd love to get in on those half and halfs, but I'd rather know what I'm getting into first... Elkins is kinda hit or miss for me. -
PO: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Vinyl
rcafilm replied to kylet's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Both Amazon and the site Mikko linked list it as a UK import... Hoping we get a US release for ~$20. I'd enjoy having this, but not enough to justify paying over $20, I don't think. -
Do any of you actually listen to the music you buy?
rcafilm replied to a topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This is simultaneously my favorite and least favorite thread. FWIW: To me, listening to records is a treat. I mostly listen to music via MP3s/WAVs on my computer, so listening to records is kind of an event for me. I love the physicality. People who bitch about anyone who cares about anything other than the music itself when it comes to vinyl will always be wrong to me, because, in my mind, vinyl is about the physical, visual, and aural all together. The OP seems to have a vendetta against colored vinyl because it's supposedly a money-making gimmick for collectors. Personally, I love colored vinyl because it adds to the experience. I love seeing a release with awesome color variants that compliment the album artwork or reflect the mood of the music. As far as limited pressings, I'll agree, they can get a little ridiculous. But as someone else mentioned, a lot of the music being put out on vinyl today is pressed by small record companies who can't afford a 100,000 unit pressing. They press 500 because they know they can sell 500. That's how business works. And yes, they are out to make money. Everyone's got bills to pay and hobbies (like, you know, owning records or something silly like that) to spend on. Do I care about having a limited pressing of a record? A little bit. There's something special about knowing that only 99 other people in the world have the same thing you have. It adds to the special connection that vinyl gives me to the music. Do I go out of my way to get the rarest variant? Hell no. But hey, one thing that I've noticed on this board is that everybody enjoys vinyl in different ways and for different reasons. Do some of the reasons seem a little stupid? Sure. Is that going to stop me from enjoying my records? Nope. TL;DR- fuckally'allz.gif -
Does anyone who uses cube-style storage use something like a non-slip shelf liner to line the bottoms? I'm looking into going cube but am a little concerned about slipping and wear and thought a shelf liner might solve both of those.

Then we'd have to deal with all the people who bitch about being the only ones who were supposed to get that variant and now it's worthless because everybody has it. -

I like these dudes' style but I didn't care much for most of the actual songs on their last album, so I'm hoping this one realizes their full potential. Digging the new tune.
