Cool looking setup. I just use the headphone out on my integrated, I'd be curious to compare it to something like this.
I just rescued this Garrard Lab 80 form Craigslist. It cost me $25 plus a new idler wheel and some serious cleaning and lubing. I'm kind of in love with it.
Sweet find!
For me the all-headphone set-up definitely sounds better than my integrated's headphone out, though not like miles and miles. This particular set up I like because it's designed to be balanced, and between the balanced amp and headphones, I definitely notice a difference from my Burson Conductor (again, not humongous but noticeable). I have yet to connect this headphone amp to the turntable that is connected to my integrated, and I might at some point but it would require moving around a lot of things. My set up is currently almost 5 feet high on top of my 4 x 4 Ikea shelf since that was one of the few flat surfaces available right now.

hmm, well we've never had this issue before so i leave it to a league majority decision.
We either do nothing and he stays in 8th, or he finishes in 5th and everyone else gets bumped down a slot.
I vote put him in 5th. It would be one thing to even leave the time idle, or not as actively switch around players, but pulling the roster is a conscious attempt to circumvent the draft order.

When I was 12, I bought Wilco's Being There because I liked the single, Outtasite, but quickly found I didn't like the album because i thought it was too country. So I sold it. Four or five years later, I found myself becoming obsessed with the alt-country boom of the early 2000s, and Wilco quickly became one of my favourite bands (saw them three days before YHF was released and it was amazing). Re-bought that album on CD. Later re-bought on vinyl, and then most recently on special edition vinyl. Still the only album I've bought 4 different times...

Got mine today. So much nostalgia. Super excited to have all of these tracks in one place. Feels like now the only song not available on vinyl (other than in demo form) is Trees Lounge.

Recently tweaked/upgraded my headphone setup, since with 3 kids under 5, I mostly only have time to listen to headphones instead of my turntable setup.
Audeze LCD 3 Fazor with Norne Audio balanced headphone cable
Massdrop x Cavalli Liquid Carbon X Amp
Gustard X20U Pro DAC
Kimber Kable PBJ balanced XLR interconnects
Onkyo DPX1A as DAP/transport

I have a Bugle 2 - been pretty happy with it. Got it a couple years ago for $150 CDN and found that it definitely opened up the sound. Didn't realize you can tweak it to different dB - thought you had to buy different versions.

Crosley crusiers are a cheap starter turntable with built in speakers for someone interested in vinyl but don't want to pay $400 dollars on an audio setup but these record players did not only ruin my vinyl experience but also destroy some of my records. But these are just my opinions and I'd like to now yours
Your opinion has offended me, Sidney Crosley, inventor of the record player and star hockey shooting guy.
Fake news!

Up for early preorder mailing list subscribers now. Grabbed one despite floating on an East African island in the Indian Ocean right now. Good timing with the WiFi, so no need to worry about hooking me up Mr. Crosley.
The Hayden love knows no boundaries. I picked one up for myself as well. Super excited for this album - I have such a special affinity for this era. My family was travelling by car to Vancouver in 1998, and I looked in the classifieds to find out that Hayden was playing a night we were there, and awkward 14-year-old me went on my own to see him. I picked up a copy of Carry On Mentality (later badly damaged and since sold), and it just felt like a really special night. It was 17 years before I saw him live again (though have seen him three times in the last few years). Can't wait to get this.

Now on the webpage, but not yet up for sale. Appears to be $30. Also not clear on how limited, but based on the previous Hardwood albums, I would venture no more than 1000.

Totally. Despite having the original 10" all the 7"s I am INTO this. Little worried about the March 9th sale day though as I am flying home from a work trip to Ventura California that day and am likely to be without reliable service.
Either way, stoked that Hayden is doing this.
There was no indication of just how limited (though guessing from literally every other album he's put out other than the A&C albums, it'll be a low pressing count). But I'll try to buy an extra copy if I can just in case - if you can't get one, holla at me.
Also, I know/have heard all of the 7 inch tracks (and A Fortune I'd Kept from the More of Our Stupid Noise comp, which was a favourite when I was 14), but the only instance of Winter Trip, to my understanding, was from demos for The Closer I Get. Did it come out in any other way?

Went to go buy the Wintersleep represses this morning and noticed they have pressed the Fake Love Songs tape on vinyl. Standard black plus coloured (limited to 100). No fanfare I have seen about this so far but on sale now:

Low and Ziggy for me. And honestly, Changesonebowie is about as good a compilation of any artist ever, and for a long time, was my only Bowie on vinyl, so I played the shit out of it.

I really liked record shopping in Seattle and Portland. New York was pretty good too but I wasn't quite as impressed. I'd love to go record shopping in Chicago though....
Depending on amount of time and whether you want to do multi-city/destination, Toronto is also quite fun for record shopping - there are quite a few stores, and while some aren't so impressive, there are an array of pretty good ones (a number of which have opened up in the last five years), and the GBP will go further when compared against the Canadian dollar. Let me know if Toronto is where you end up and I can make some suggestions.

Have you ever tried to play your records using a stick with a nail on the end of it?
Still better than that turntable.

I haven't subbed for a few months, but I'm listening to the Ayalew Mesfin right now, and it's really good. I am not nearly versed enough in much of the music of this part of the world or era (other than William Onyeabor, who I absolutely love), but this is great. And I love the story/background too.

Waiting on the following arguments from @vinyl addict:
-My best friend/coworker/manicurist/frogsitter is black
-What about all of the non-white people who are violent and addicted to drugs
-How come liberal media only reports on racism and not on rich white guys like me who don't see skin colour?
-It's not fair that all of you libtards are ganging up on me. I need a safe space
-I really fucking love Kid Rock, literally the only musician who agrees with me on anything.
-I'm one of those people who believes that every Muslim including Obama is out to kill us because Alex Jones told me so.
-Shut up, that's why.

Hi everyone! You probably remember me spamming the boards a few years ago with a self-indulgent project where I was able to get my album on limited vinyl. Last year I posted here asking to see if anyone was interested in contributing, and I had a chance to chat with a few folks about my music.
Today I'm really excited to share my new album, Underwater Hotel, an orchestral indie pop/folk song cycle based around and directly responding to Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot [each of the nine songs directly corresponds to one of the songs on YHF - see if you can figure out which]. Mostly home-recorded but with 19 guest musicians, and filled with strings, horns, woodwinds, and lots of layers. Obviously influenced by Wilco, but also Beulah, Ryan Adams, Hayden, Broken Social Scene - I did my best to make this sound like it could have come out in 2002 or so.It's available to stream on Bandcamp, plus all streaming sites, and will be available on limited CD (for those of you who still have CD players!

Why should we let all these people in?
Said the native Americans. They come from shithole countries bringing disease, colonialism, slavery, and something called the Chainsmokers. I’d love to hear one good reason why all these ‘real’ Americans think they deserve the land that they stole or colonized and therefore shouldn’t need to be respectful to people that are, shock: actually humans too.

It arrived and it has a really unique packaging. This is the best retail deal on vinyl I've probably ever encountered.
It's not really a box set. It's a slipcase cover with a custom-made tip-on "book" that houses the vinyl in heavy tip-on sleevestock as well as an extra slot for the booklet and DVD. It's like a slightly-less-fancy version of those Eluvium box sets (but with a slipcase cover).
Agreed. Great set and the extra tracks are fun. Though I can’t seem to find where the download code is - haven’t come across it yet.
Guess I may as well sell my 2LP reissue...
Unrelated, I’ve kept looking on amazon.ca for decent Canadian deals and there have literally been none since the Primus deal a week or so ago...Has been a bit of a post-Christmas dead zone.

That happened to me as well. Amazon no longer has it listed as something they stock, so 3rd party only. Order will eventually be cancelled.
Was worth a shot for that price though.
You never know, though. As of last week it looked like they didn't even have a delivery date, and then I received an update on Monday, a shipping notification this morning, and it should arrive by the end of today (I'm in Toronto with prime, so I often get things pretty quickly). Obviously they are fulfilling some, but based on how good a deal this was, I wonder how many were ordered...I posted on Reddit and my Cheap Vinyl in Canada Facebook page, so I figure lots of people saw it.

Amazon's saying this shipped. If it's actually the 4LP and in good shape then this will be the best bargain on a box-set I've ever found.
As did mine. I honestly never thought it would come through, but I'm super excited because I love this album and haven't heard the extra stuff.

Do it. There was a huge adjustment to just about all of them recently that made prices drop. It's a goo time to buy. Looks like they're just starting to turn up again today.
Yup - put it into Cryptonator and spreading it across a few different currencies.
Was it you talking about Ripple? What's its deal?
Online Record Selling

Canada is a really shitty market. Canada Post is one of the main reasons, but there are other factors too. Start with the fact that it can cost anywhere between $11-20 to ship one record, and that taxes can be as high as 14%. The few places in Canada that you can order online usually have limited supply or charge for shipping (take our overlords, SRCVinyl, for example, who don't have a free shipping threshold at any point. I once bought $100 of clearance vinyl - but it cost $130 by the time shipping and taxes were factored in.) This means that it will be mathematically impossible to sell a $16.99 record for under $30. And then even if Amazon.ca has it for $24, it would still be cheaper (and at times quicker) to order from them.
As a Canadian record buyer, I would love for this to work, but with no Media Mail, and Canada Post rates continually getting to comical amounts, I find it easier to buy from Amazon.ca, ImportCDs/Collector's Choice, the occasional German store (sometimes 4 Euros shipping to Canada), and go in person. Means I don't get anywhere near the amount of deals most Americans get from Amazon.com, Discogs, Bullmoose, etc. but it's the best we can do here.
Not intending to shit on your idea. Canada Post has done that for you.
