  1. Anybody know how many of the deluxe are being printed? Can't seem to find the info anywhere. I would normally never pay 40+ for a new release, but I just had my mind blown by his set at Coachella (and its such a pretty release)... so if' it's limited in any capacity I'm probably gonna bite. Otherwise, I may wait and see if it drops in price at all. [Edit}: Also, where are people seeing the extra instrumentals listed. Because the pr-order on the Turks website only shows the original 11 tracks even when you select the deluxe.
  2. This would make me a very sad panda. Hopefully they are using exclusive in the way that Microsoft used to [timed exclusive].
  3. I mean, it is indeed the million dollar question. But either way, HTTT Capitols go for $25ish (sitting at 26.99 right now on Amazon) so the risk is more like a dollar or two + shipping (which just depends on the seller obviously). Hopefully Fozzy can report back to us on the sound quality of the (Parlaphone) copy he just purchased.
  4. Guesses on how much that Lou Reed is gonna cost? It's the first Newbury I've been tempted to get since LCW (which I found out about to late).
  5. ^ Wish I had seen this just prior to ordering. For the record, I was looking @ Incubus' Make Yourself // Morning View. I spent the morning re-listening to each album (they were a vital part of the high school rotation but it's been years) trying to decide. Then somebody beat me to the punch (as the guy above indicated might happen) on Make Yourself (which goes for higher prices b/c its been out of stock for longer) and made the decision for me (though I doubt it was somebody from this site). Not sure if they still have any in stock but feel free to check... [Edit]: It would appear Morning View is still available for purchase as it still lets me add to the cart (whereas Make Yourself disappeared from my cart).
  6. I'll let you guys know as soon I've decided which of the two I'm going to purchase (it's the same band and I can only afford one). They also may not be completely OOP but they were supposedly "limited editions" and are scarce/expensive on both Discogs and Amazon right now. Hastings has both for 20 bucks. And I trust them to have it, b/c they shipped me LCD's This Is Happening during that sale despite the fact that it was (and remains) out of stock everywhere else.
  7. So the HTTT being sold in Europe right now (for example from that REFLEX seller) that has a Parlaphone sticker on it is the EXACT same pressing as the From the Vaults being sold in the US?
  8. Anybody know of any active coupons? They have a couple albums that just slipped OOP that I kinda wanna snag
  9. Ah. I grew up in Centennial off 1-25 and Orchard/Arapahoe. The 2 years I lived back in CO as an adult I was in the Wash Park/South Broadway area. I really like the little of the Highlands that I've seen (it was just starting to really develop [i.e. gentrify] when I left for CA again in 11'), but I hate how disconnected from the highways it is. Quick question, I've been to Wax Trax and Twist & Shout (both great shops though slightly more expensive than my LA go-to's), but if you were to hit up one other shop in the Denver-Metro area what would it be?
  10. Crazy to hear all these good things about Vacation Vinyl. I live about a 5 minute (no traffic) drive away and have never set foot in it. Didn't even know it's name til right now when I Googled it. People are always asking "have you been in that shop on Sunset". Now I know I gotta go. For the record [pun intended], I usually go to Mono (when trying to fill in my classic rock collection), Origami (for pre-orders) or Amoeba (for modern, non-new releases). Also, what part of Denver. That's my hometown (moved to LA for college in 05').
  11. The definition of anything "indie" is along the lines of "free from corporate ties and/or influence". So yes, Mom & Pop shops are the same thing as an indie record store.
  12. Amazon UK seller? Edit: Nvm. Found him. Kind of shocked that shipping is only 3.99. I'm thinking I'll probably place an order. What are people's experiences with ordering vinyl overseas from an Amazon seller?
  13. I managed to score two of my white wales (The Cunninlyunguists albums A Piece of Strange and Strange Journey Volume 3). However, I have one to add to the list. Rudimental's Home is going for as much as $540 on discogs....
  14. Look. I don't really take issue with people who are paying the $26 (even if I wish an albums like this would undersell out of principle) . What I do take issue with, is the initial snarky comment of "original pressings are going for ___, so you should be happy with a $26 price tag" and/or posters calling my response to this whiny. The dude with the Minor Threat comment hit the nail on the head... just because an album is OOP and highly sought after doesn't mean a label has to gauge its customers. More importantly, just as you all have the right to decide that $26 is an okay amount to spend on a single LP, I have the right to decide that, as much as I'd like to own Americana on vinyl (an album that holds sentimental value in my heart for being one of the first CD's I can remember owning and/or being obsessed with as a 6th grader)... $26 is more than I'd like to spend. I've dropped $25+ on an album before and I'll almost certainly do it again. But I try to selective in that process... the album better not only be one of my all-time favorites, but also be a double LP with top notch packaging [and sound quality]. The represses of The Downward Spiral, Sublime, Lonesome Crowded West, Think Tank, ext, ext fit that description, and I couldn't be happier with my purchases. My issue with Americana (as stated) is that it a non-gatefold, non-Mofi, SINGLE LP and they are still charging $26 fucking dollars for it. Since there are hundreds of albums I would like to someday own, many of which can be mine for roughly $20, (not to mention many, many independent artists who could use my $$$ more than a band like The Offspring) I'll choose to put that cash elsewhere. And that doesn't mean I don't want this record. If the price point had been $20, this album would have been an instant purchase.... That $6 might now seem like much, but that $6 four times = one less record I can own
  15. That doesn't mean they should be charging 26 dollars for a single LP (that isn't even a gatefold). And yes, you could maybe argue that it's for a colored variant, but that's negated by the fact that they are charging the same price for the black.By purchasing it (and more so condoning it), you are encouraging the continued inflation of vinyl prices... and if it gets much worse, it's gonna push lower middle class pepole like myself away from "the hobby" for sheer lack of affordability.
  16. Thanks. Was confused that they were already shipping cause Amazon has it listed as the 21st or some such later date.
  17. So, so jealous. Just could not justify pulling the trigger at the time. Really hope they wind up doing a non Vinyl-Me repress.
  18. Anybody else notice that White Stipe records have sky rocketed in price recently? De Stijl and White Blood Cells are both going for around 30-35 on Amazon. They were at a flat 20 no more than a couple months ago. I've put off snagging pretty much every White Stripes record other than Elephant since I starting collecting vinyl because I just didn't see any way they'd slip out of print for long with White being a part of 3rd Man and all... Now I gotta decide whether to bite the bullet or just wait it out and hope that they drop back down. Could just be there's a need for a repress.
  19. You wouldn't happen to be talking about Lolipop Records would you? Place is such a scam. Every record there is massively overpriced. I've become convinced they are laundering money out of the place (not to toss around real accusations). Best place in that part of Downtown for USED records is most definitely Mono records (its off Glendale where it dead-ends into the 2). Everything is fairly priced, and while its fairly small and classic rock/jazz centric, they have a constantly rotating collection.
  20. In such a good mood. Just scored a copy of 2 from a seller I trust on discogs for "only" $20.
  21. Thanks for all the updates Wynams. Too bad that Hail to the Thief was Capitol. Have a feeling it's pretty hard to find the Parlaphone at this point.
