PO: FKA Twigs LP 1 ltd Gatefold + 7" FFO Downtempo, Neo Soul,

I missed out on the deluxe... anyone have any leads? -
Not sure... it's odd because all of the sellers seem to be in Europe, though the record seems to be printed in the US... Do you think they pressed more for Europe? Or was the release delayed for Europe?
-
Got mine today! Still curious how many of these were pressed if anyone knows.

Bought one from avatarmusic and it shipped. Anyone know pressing info on these?

Torrents / NZBs / File Sharing
jbrana replied to drummerboy032's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Is anyone on this board a member of these sites? Is one better than the other? I was once a member of oink before it was shut down, and appreciated the opportunity to track down some obscure stuff that wasn't otherwise available elsewhere. cheers. -
No one faults you for being, "Bummed," that someone pressed Chroma before you had the chance to. However, it was in poor taste to publicly badmouth the label that beat you to the punch and childishly claim that your (The band's) pressing will be better when you've (The band) also claimed that you (The band) know nothing about the current release. Also, anything posted online via Twitter, AP, or VC does not need a preface of whether it is an, "Official Statement," or not. If it comes from a member of the band, or a member of the band's camp it is an official statement... Which is why words should be chosen with care and caution and not childishly tweeted to the world.

You can't sell something and retain it. They do however retain the writer's share of publishing and in most cases receive royalties.
-
How exactly would that be for the better? Bands typically sign to a label because they don't have the significant funds or means to put out a quality record, market their album, receive radio / film / tv placements, tour support, etc. Should a label not be paid for their financial investment, risk, and work involved to develop an artist's career?
-
Yes... Morality is subjective and legality is not. This was pressed legally. Discussion over.

This. It comes down to money. Cartel's feelings are hurt that someone beat them to an opportunity to make a little bit of money, and now they are being bullies / children about it on social media.
-
Some people don't seem to understand that a record label is mostly an investment firm that has an interest in music. At the end of the day, Cartel was paid by Epic for the rights to Chroma, and it is now in Epic's hands to gain a profit on their investment (ie, licensing it to a third party). This is called business. Neither Epic nor a contracted third party need the band's permission as it was already granted in the initial contract. For the band to badmouth the pressing of an album that they sold the rights to is complete nonsense, unprofessional, and in bad taste. If they wanted to protect their art and release it the way they see fit, they shouldn't have signed a contract with a major label.

Neil Young - A Letter Home Ltd. Deluxe Set.
jbrana replied to timsimmons's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This. Anyone heard how many of these will be floating around? -
If I was buying them for myself I wouldn't really mind so much, but I wish that it was noted since I purchased them for others as gifts. I found the same titles elsewhere, so I'm just going to buy from them and ship these back to Reckless.
-
I ordered three RSD items from Reckless and they arrived yesterday open and without shrink wrap in tact. I emailed them about it and they responded unapologetically saying that they took these measures to ensure that the albums weren't defective. I bought the items to give as gifts, so I'm sending them back as I don't want to give an unsealed album as a gift. Has anyone else experienced this from Reckless?

PO: Ryan Adams - Gold 2LP CLEAR vinyl repress
jbrana replied to cadetapplesauce's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I remember Ryan Adams tweeting awhile back that the clear represses they are doing of his records are crap and it's just Lost Highway trying to make a dime.
