  1. You guys think that /666 marble will be a flame-on red?
  2. Truth. However, even if she did, no one would be throwing a fit or trying to "white knight" her, and that's because she hasn't made any moronic contributions to the community. Just my opinion anyway.
  3. I actually didn't even realize there was someone [or something] under all those colors, up until a week ago. Don't feel too bad.
  4. Thank you guys. I'd like to think I'm not alone on this one. And just to reiterate, I have no animosity towards lahispute. I think she has as much of a right to join and participate in VC as anyone else. But at the same time, the rest of the board and myself also have the right to ridicule her as we see fit. Especially if she's practically asking for it. I'd also like to say that it's very possible to be a new female member without receiving harassment. Look at futurekills, for example. She can articulate her posts, stay on topic, contribute to threads, and keep her head above drama. I actually had no idea she was a girl for the first month or two she was here.
  5. Sorry for temporarily steering this thread backwards. But I've kept quiet through all this mess and just wanted to weigh in. I'll be dropping it and going back to reading the pointless banter and spam until some significant news pops up.
  6. Not to beat a dead horse, but I feel like we all need to get on the same page, before this thing escalates into even further confusion. Allow me to say this: lahispute's gender is irrelevant as far as the roasting or flaming goes. She isn't receiving flack because she's a girl, or because "we're all sexist pigs". She's being ridiculed because; - She's new. - She's exceptionally gullible. - Her username is dedicated to La Dispute. - ...Of whom she tried to dedicate a thread to, and ended up deleting when fellow members voiced an opposing opinion. - The majority of her posts read like something written by a girl in junior high. - She tries to BFF anyone who sticks up for her. - She tries to BFF anyone who doesn't necessary disagree with her. - She tries to BFF anyone who isn't completely negative towards her. Honestly, that's all flame bait. The fact she has a rack does not make her impervious to it. Sorry, guys. While I agree that there's no reason to get nasty or sexist, I would also say that it's arguably sexist to "let her off the hook" by shiting on anyone who calls her out. Like many people have said, that's part of VC membership. A rite of passage, if you will. Would we all have eased up off of Teenage Eric if he were a girl? Let's be real. And that patthickey kid is a joke. I've read maybe one or two comments in this entire thread that could be perceived as sexist. No one is playing the "get off of VC and back into the kitchen to make me a sandwich" card, nor are there dudes posting sexual jabs or being foul. Way to blow things out of proportion, hickey. And as far as updating status / blogs / tweets / whatever: I envy your life if an internet scuffle is that traumatic for you. You're in for a rude awakening if you ever step out into the real world and witness legitimate sexual harassment or domestic abuse. And calling out the dozens of members who choose to not fan this flame? Guys like myself who've read this thread without feeling the need to dive into the shit-storm, up until now? Piss off, man. You're a tool for trying to shame anyone who's above all the shit in this thread. Someone had to say it.
  7. I still listen to this album regularly, for what it's worth.
  8. Did I miss something, or did that guy legitimately imply that most 17 year-old high-school graduates have $30k - $100k in their checking account, post graduation? "No, of course not. That's why you work after high-school and save up." -- at 25, I've yet to have a job where I could realistically earn enough money in a year (or two, or three) to pay for all my tuition, books, and-or rooming expenses required to achieve a degree. Does that even happen for people?
  9. So much, in fact, that she felt the need to completely erase her thread despite a little criticism towards her favorite band? Okay.
  10. The video and song are indeed just as corny and try-hard as Gagnam Style, but I'll be damned if this hasn't been stuck in my head for the past few days after just one listen. Never really had that problem with Gagnam.
  11. Say what you will and rarity be damned: that clear is definitely sleeker than the blue. They're both nice, but that center label looks so much better with crystal clear wax surrounding it. Also, album continues to deliver. Still waiting on my Newbury copy, though.
  12. @ King: if you dig those post-rock elements, you really ought to try out the full-length prior to IR, Sagarmatha. Does not disappoint. I know it can be difficult to move forward and explore more material after being "stuck" on a particular album, but hopefully you'll see what we mean about the band's consistency.
  13. Thanks man. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the hook in that chorus. Notably when I'm waiting in line to check out my cereal, produce, and Hamburger Helper. Def my jam.
  14. I wonder if this [theoretical] repress can or will produce mass hysteria.
  15. Isn't Enimen that guy featured on that one Rhianna single? The one that was on retail radio a while back. Just Gonna' Stand Here, right? Man, girls love that song.
  16. So does crazybeats listen to Eminem or something?
