  1. If you wouldn't mind... Confirm / deny: the remaining copies of the JD repress are entirely sold out.
  2. Absolutely. Perhaps not the interviewer, necessarily, but at least whoever typed up the transcript.
  3. I received a clear gold just this afternoon. Couldn't be more stoked. I may end up picking up a red or white since they look pretty amazing, from what I've seen... but in the meantime, just owning the physical release has me pretty damn giddy.
  4. You only refreshed? I had to quit and relaunch Firefox to get it to work, personally.
  5. Very nice / congrats. Not that I care all too much about which color I wind up with, but do you mind if I ask when you placed your order? Tre made it sound like it wasn't a first come; first serve deal... but more like a sporadic distribution. Just interested.
  6. Thanks for the breakdown, Juan. The rarest variant makes me hungry for a peach.
  7. Haven't received my Deathwish copy, but I imagine it does. I know that the KR copies have a poly-sleeve. Sucks to hear that the rain got to your FC. Does your mailman have to go out of his way to find a spot that won't get soaked, or...? this is the KRM version [at least it looks just like it] Ah. My bad. I'm not sure what the red-gold swirl even looks like then, then. Hopefully it's quite distinguishable.
  8. Are you serious? The label sold preorder copies before the mastering was even done. It took over four months for them to ship. The label flat out lied about how many different colors were going to be pressed. The color combinations are pretty ambiguous. I can't help but think this really was an April Fools joke. To each his own. But for what it's worth, Tre just got done explaining why "he lied" about the different color combinations, a few posts back. And it makes sense in the grand scheme of things. As far as delays, and labels launching pre-orders before mastering is complete? I get the impression you don't pre-order records often.
  9. I can totally see why you went about the press quantities in such a manner. Thanks for the clarification. And the fact that the red-yellow swirl is realistically limited to 50 - for standard consumers - is even crazier.
  10. I more or less thwarted my own logic a few minutes after I thought I had it figured out. So here's a random assortment of pressing thoughts and theories. → I wasn't a part of VC when the ATF LP went up for pre-order: so I ask... did they advertise the 100 shard copies? I know Tre mentioned - a few pages back - that they wanted to avoid that fiasco with the JD repress. Something about it being too much of a race? I'm paraphrasing at this point. Regardless; DW never promoted 4 colors. This could be because; A.) The inclusion of one of the colors was added at the last second, and the website wasn't updated, or: B.) They secretly planned to press a rare variant all along, and keep it hush-hush. → If neither the white nor red color variants are the "rare" Deathwish pressings, that leaves either the red-yellow (solid) swirl, or the translucent yellow. That's the power of elimination! → Going with this theory, is it at all possible that DW decided to press, say, a mere 100 / 200 copies of either yellow or red-yellow, and keep it on the down-low? A lot of collectors and variant whores would probably be upset to find that a select few unknowingly received the rarest of variants, but it would help to somewhat deter flippers, I think. A fairly cool idea in my books. → There are 2,000 DW copies, correct? I thought I read that a few pages back. Part of me wouldn't be surprised to learn that it's an even, four-way split across all colors. To keep the "rule of 500" in check with the KR and EVR pressings. I guess it wouldn't be half as fun... since there's no "elite" variant to flip on eBay for hundreds of dollars. But who cares? Just a possibility. Free to riddle these thoughts with loopholes or a Wrong Answer pic. They're merely speculation on my end. *edit* Took me too long to type. Damn. Glad this is finally resolved, at least.
  11. I do believe I see exactly what's going on, here. Smart move on DW's part.
  12. A third tab is pretty hardcore. Aside from it, I do the exact same thing if I care enough about the auction. I enjoy the thrill of sniping as well, even if it's for low-cost items. I don't see why it's frowned upon, though. Obviously it's inconvenient for someone who won't have access to the auction's final moments, sure. But you know what trumps sniping, 10 times out of 10? - the highest bid. I've tried sniping an item or two for a price that's "guaranteed to win"... only to find that the second bidder had put in a massive bid on day one. Clutch bids are sometimes fun, and I've gotten some great deals with them. But the fact is they don't mean shit if some nut-job locks in a ridiculous bid early on.
  13. The one on the left looks fairly solid to me, in comparison to the middle. Maybe I'm just seeing things? And so the plot thickens.
  14. Not to hop on a bandwagon of any sort, but you have to respect the insert for not only being gorgeous... but for also standing against the grain. The common booklet is a half-assed collection of band photos or loosely based art that ties in with the cover, and is often smothered with credits, thank yous, and (occasionally) lyrics. I like how Bannon simply went all out with jaw-dropping illustration after illustration: none of which give you any insight on the lyrics themselves. I find that approach pretty cool, personally.
  15. I was moments away from snagging awesomebutton's copy for $99.99, but this is a far better deal. Thanks for the heads up!
  16. Am I missing something, or are the vinyl and CD booklets supposed to be identical? Aside from size difference, obviously. If the photos a few pages back were any indication, I'm stoked... lyrics or otherwise.
  17. Clearly. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have taken the time to write it out, you know? Good chat. Let's keep up the solid contributions. And take the internet super seriously, while we're at it.
  18. It was a sunny morning in April. I had just arrived home from an exhausting night-shift, and logged onto VC to scope for the latest flip opportunity. Lo and behold: JANE DOE REPRESS UP NO APRIL FOOLS. Now, I wasn't sure whether "Jane Doe" was the name of a band, an album, or some idiotic rap artist. But folks were shitting bricks over it, so it seemed like something to check out. I knew that a lot of scene vinyl kids raved about Deathwish and their e-store, so I hit that up. It didn't take long for me to reach for my wallet. Limited vinyl? Three color variants? Sign me up! I remember I was a little hesitant when I checked out with the 30 copies in my basket. At $22 a pop, I was hoping that I had grabbed at least a dozen rare variants or so. Nothing's worse than taking a hit on a dud release, amirite? A little later that night, when contemplating what I had just spent $700+ on, I decided I'd check out the album just for kicks. What harm could it do, right? Wrong. Dead wrong. I don't know how you kids can listen to this shit. I had to stop two tracks in. And they were fairly short tracks, praise God. Prior to that evening, I hadn't heard anything I could call an "audible migraine". But all of that changed within four minutes or so. This doesn't really matter, though: as long as you guys blow your hard-earned allowance or minimum wages on eBay variants, I couldn't care less. My iPad won't pay for itself.
  19. I can't think of a better way to start a Monday morning. Stoked./!
  20. Not to add fuel to the intense rivalry you two have, but I have to admit that my Broken Circles ordered arrived today, and all the records - jackets included - are flawless. Just saying. Super stoked you both decided to make this release happen. Each variant turned out beautifully.
