  1. Bottom left is Grimace purple/Milky clear. The oxblood w/ bone splatter is the bottom right. Here's the pirate press link: http://piratespress.com/rotw/

Well if I'd known the Grimace purple/Milky clear was going to look like oxblood and bone, I would have ordered that one.  ;)

Depending on what colors are used, and whether they are opaque/clear affects how a-side/b-side vinyl comes out, but it's never just a clean color on on side and another color on the other, there is always over lap and mixing together from what I've seen.

Fair enough. I've never seen a record that was solid color on one side and a different color on the other, so I shouldn't be surprised. Either way I'm sure it'll look splendid in person.

  2. Went out to a few shops this weekend while the girlfriend was out camping (shhhh  ):

Talking Heads - Remain in Light (1980)

Bauhaus - Burning from the Inside (1983)

    Recent online/pre-orders I'm waiting on:

Ultimate Painting - Green Lanes (2015) [limited green variant]

Ultimate Painting - Ultimate Painting (2014) [random color variant]

    mewithoutYou - Pale Horses (2015) [olive/bone variant]

    Kurt Vile - b'lieve i'm going down... (2015) [3LP]

  3. is bottom left the grimace purple /500?

    Yep

None of the ones pictured look purple to me. Bottom left is Oxblood/bone, and it sure does look nice.

I ordered the Olive/Bone version, which is probably top right but it doesn't look bone, it looks gray/white. We'll see. I do like the oxblood/bone one but didn't want to buy anything associated with Hot Topic.

Edit: My bad, the Hot Topic issue is described as "Oxblood w/ Bone/Silver Splatter" so that must be bottom right. Don't like it. Bottom left looks oxblood, not purple at all, so I'm confused. Also the variant I ordered is "Olive Green A-Side / Bone B-Side" so I'm expecting a different color on each side, not a swirl effect or whatever you call what's shown in the green record. Hmmm.

  4. Thanks, ordered! New track is great.

Where's the new track, what's it called? More interested in how this is going to sound than what color the special edition is. Though I still would like to have that information as well. I really liked the last album but didn't care for the Cloud Nothings collab.

Edit: Found the new track "Way Too Much" here on P4K http://pitchfork.com/news/60434-wavves-details-new-album-v/

  5. I've never collected variants. As someone mentioned already, I'd rather have 10 different albums than 10 copies of the same album. When I collected CDs, I did like to complete the discography of my favorite artists, but I limited that to official studio albums, occasionally including live ones. Then I realized I was at the point of just ripping albums to my computer for convenient listening on my MP3 player and computer, and making copies of the CDs to keep in the car. Essentially I was just ripping the CD, checking out the artwork, and putting it on the shelf. CD shopping was becoming less and less fun as it was easier to find things I wanted on Amazon, eBay, etc. It became a money pit and I started downloading more. Now that I'm buying vinyl, I'm trying to be a lot more selective of what I buy. And I never need more than one copy of anything.

  6. After seeing an image of the limited edition on Instagram with the wax sealed cover and yellow vinyl, I assumed all limited edition were yellow. The site doesn't explicitly say that, in fact it doesn't mention color at all, so it was my assumption based on that image and information on Discogs. So it sounds like yellow might have been first pressing of both limited and regular releases, or maybe just the first run of limited edition. Confusing.

I searched and was surprised not to find a thread about the band's self-titled debut or this follow-up which has been available for PO for a few weeks I think. The British duo of Jack Cooper and James Hoare formed after touring with their bands Mazes and Veronica Falls. Their debut is a mellow jangly/indie pop album influenced by New Zealand bands like The Bats, Australians like The Moles, as well as The Feelies, The Velvet Underground, and The Kinks. Fantastic stuff and I'm pumped for their new one.

  8. I learned of this album at the beginning of the week, and have been playing the hell out of it and the 2 EPs (Demo & Salt) that are on Spotify. This shit is right up my alley. I managed to pick up both EPs on vinyl yesterday at local shops, and ordered the limited edition from Sacred Bones. Surprised there were still some available from the 250. It doesn't say it anywhere but I believe both the limited and standard are on yellow vinyl. That is according to Discogs, and an image of the limited edition I saw on Instagram.

I also downloaded the Giddy Boys 7" which contains 3 really great songs. Definitely my band of the week!

  9. Count me in.

It's not bad, neither frustrating, even with the fact that I wasn't expecting much from it. It just feels (like most post-reunion albums) like it lacks real intensity although you can feel the commitment to bring something decent to the table. And intensity and originality represented a big deal to FNM back in the day.

I still don't think I'l end up buying it, can't see myself giving it frequent listens.

Same. I've only played it once so far and it didn't really hold my interest. I intend to listen to it again, I'm just excited about too many other things right now to slip this one back in. But it'll happen. And ideally, I'll like it more with time. The good thing is that my hopes weren't too high anyway so it's hard to be disappointed. My expectations were met.
