The new, self-titled album was surprise dropped last week. LPs are shipping now and it looks like the limited color is almost sold out. Shipping from Canada, but I got mine very fast (Chicago).
Pitchfork gave it an 8.3, but don't be fooled by that, the record is amazing.
I know they don't get a ton of hype/coverage compared to other artists, but pre-orders went up at the end of January
Agreed it's a fantastic album (and 8.3 is still quite good 😀) -

I'm assuming when they filed for bankruptcy, they ceased operations and remaining assets were put up for auction.
Different sort of bankruptcy as they immediately went into receivership and all of their assets are under the control of Lighthouse (https://lighthousemanagement.com/). Nobody knows what Lighthouse intends to do, but liquidation/auction of what they have is likely. Part of the mess is that it's still difficult to prove which records were actually pressed and who has them. Of the records that were pressed, Bandbox never paid the pressing plants for some, so those are still owned by the plants and not with Lighthouse. Customers probably have a better shot at those records than getting anything from Lighthouse, records or refunds, because we're the lowest priority of creditors.

On another note, I am shocked that there are still copies of Ozean up.
I'm not surprised at all - it was just 300 pressed in 2017 but that still reduces how many may want to buy it now. Also, more importantly, $27 for a 3-song 12" is ridiculous.

Without any warning (to the store), #4 and #6 showed up at my local in the last couple weeks
Also, Matthew Rosenberg was selling some remaining Deluxe copies of #1 on his site

They "corrected" the shipping to the US, it's now about $550 ppd. Still insane but $60 less than yesterday, ha.
And someone asked on IG and he said "there are no current plans" for the albums to be pressed individually. It could happen eventually but don't plan on it.
-
Saw it confirmed on his IG - this is the only purchase option, no US seller
So, it's $500 for the box set + $100 shipping
Love his work, want these albums on vinyl, but no. That's obscene for just 7 albums.

If you don’t like any of the picks, can you use that as a store purchase instead?
Sort of - there is a window for swapping that month's record before the selection is locked, and you can see on the site all the other records they've made available to choose from for that month. Anything in the store that is still up for pre-order is not available for swapping, and it's always a guessing game if/when certain store exclusives will be added to the swaps availability. You can also swap for store credit if there's nothing in the swap selections you want.
I don't spend much time on Reddit, but there's a user who kindly highlights every month the 'best' records for swapping, since many of them are less expensive to just purchase separately. -
The other new stuff is unique to the box, but they are selling the 2x LP On Avery Island separately

Originally intended as 15th Anniversary releases, the pandemic got in the way. Now, for two stalwarts of the early 00's Seattle scene, both albums available on vinyl for the first time ever.

Bought from Quiet Panic on Bandcamp, but haven't heard anything about these shipping. Definitely looking forward to receiving and spinning.
I bought it on Bandcamp, too; looks like the latest shipping estimate is late January

Called my local shop who I'm working with to get these through previewsworld. As usual, vague answers and mostly a bit of shoulder shrugging. They said I should hopefully hear from them Mid December.
I scoured the interwebs to see if anything else has been posted and didn't find much except this comic has like 20 different covers and I'm so glad I don't collect comics, even though seeing them all makes me want to collect them now, damnit. I'm going to call my actual local shop today or maybe go in and ask how I can support them instead of this joker one through previewsworld.
previewsworld = Diamond = the distributor for Image, so every shop will go through them no matter what

I’m guessing no one has seen this in the wild. No pics online. No shop that I know of got any. Anyone seen anything?
To absolutely nobody's surprise, they were unprepared for the amount of interest, and didn't have enough to go around. My shop was allocated only one (and I was #2 to order it; bought the book alone). I suspect that's what happened to most. Pre-orders are open now for a 2nd press in Feb, but no word on how many.

I’d have to check my receipt folder to see exactly where I ordered from, but my spreadsheet notes 10/29 as a shipment date for US copies. Could’ve changed by now, but yeah… I was not expecting these to be in hand or even ship on release date.
Quiet Panic sent out an update through Bandcamp on Thursday - "Just to keep everyone in the loop, we've experienced some production delays with both the Tennis System & Slow Crush LPs. We hope to have them out to you soon, but it looks like it will be at least a few more weeks, if not longer. We apologize for the delay and will let you know as soon as we have a firm date for shipping."
(and I keep a spreadsheet for pre-orders, too, including a column for street date and a column for notes like this)

Comics are more fragile than records, I'm sure you'll be fine.
The much bigger worry is what Diamond will do to the records while getting them to the shops 😬

my local comic book store says this is unavailable to order because the allotment has sold out? Anyone else have this issue?
I emailed mine about it yesterday & the owner wrote back a couple hours ago to say I was good to go. I'll double-check when I go in tomorrow to pick up this week's books.

No argument that it’s a little odd to see the album “quietly” release, but just to clarify, the above bandcamp example is what the page would look like for anyone, whether they ordered a copy through bandcamp or not. The only difference is that bandcamp buyers should be able to find an option to download the record in full, from their Purchases page.
That's not entirely true - now that the album is released, I'm able to listen to the entire album there

Is there any way to listen to the new Tennis System? It was supposed to release today.
I pre-ordered through Bandcamp and the digital is up

so I got shipping confirmation from rough trade like 11 days ago and it hasn't been dropped off yet - anyone else in this boat? lol
I contacted RT about the same last week and got back a rather nonsensical reply -
"We've been experiencing ongoing shipping issues this year, my sincere apologies that these problems have affected your order. Sometimes USPS doesn't scan their items at every stop so keep an eye on the tracking information. If you do not receive your record one month after the initial shipment date, please reach back out. My apologies again and thank you for your patience."
My guess is that none of the S-K records have actually shipped yet but between getting the new shop open and then RSD, they're overwhelmed. I was expecting to hear back that they were in the same situation as just about every other artist/label/shop and hadn't received the records yet due to the worldwide plant backup. -

Hammerbox, a female-fronted "grunge" band from Seattle in the early 90's
Some reels were found in the singer's basement, songs that had never been released, now being pressed to 7"

Has anyone received their white vinyl via bandcamp yet? "shipped nov 17" but never actually scanned
🙃They sent out an update back on the 9th (and at https://softkillsoftkill.bigcartel.com/preorder-info). TLDR version - the pressing plant is working at half-capacity, and they pre-printed everyone's label for when they do receive the records

Eh, ok. I have no interest in lumping all the reviewers together especially given what's happened to the site this year.
