  1. They're my preferred Amazon Marketplace seller. I've only ordered a couple LPs from them (dozens of CDs) but they came quickly in proper mailers.
  2. Got the green, too. Any idea when the Joie de Vivre LP is due? Grabbed that at the same time.
  3. They take a percentage (3%, I think) of the total pledged. Amazon take a percentage too, which I've heard isn't made very clear.
  4. I think it makes sense (more often, at least) if it's the band themselves. I've supported one project like that and the rewards were good and the band were very specific where every cent went. I was a nice way to support an act you care about. But I agree that it shouldn't be how "labels" release their first few records. The initial role of a label to front the cash for a release they believe will work. If you can't front that cash - and this extends to a lot of the never ending pre-orders of late also - you shouldn't really be trying to release records.
  5. 200. Bottom of this page http://www.magicbulletrecords.com/august09.html.
  6. I don't know what it is about UK labels and those thin mailers. Even coming as far as Ireland they get beat. I'm amazed anything makes it in one piece.
  7. Just got my shipping conf while listening to the album for the third time in a row. Thanks Scott!
  8. The file with the squared-off end on your average pen knife/multi tool works great. Couple twists each side using just the record's own weight and it's usually perfect.
  9. I have a theory that one their first day somebody at Amazon messed up the box order and they've been trying get rid of thousands of them ever since.
  10. I use Dead Format for online listing. If you use a Mac there's a great programme called CDPedia which lets you add descriptions and photos and whatever other info you like. http://www.bruji.com/cdpedia/
  11. I photograph everything. Fortunately I started early in the collection, 'cause it's a real pain in the ass. But I'm a list geek, and I like looking at other people's vinyl, so I figure it's worth doing it myself. http://www.deadformat.net/tradelist/ArnoldLayne&view=photos
  12. I love sampler CDs. I got into Austin Lucas and Useless ID off the back of ones you guys sent me with orders, and the same with a few other labels. I'm more inclined to listen to a free comp CD than a free download for some reason.
  13. I've had very few bad experiences. Aural Exploits sent me a common press when I ordered the limited one and basically said "tough". If nothing goes wrong they're fine, though. Relapse sent the wrong record, but responded very quickly and sent a replacement for free. Saddle Creek, Magic Bullet, Mylene Sheath, Denovali and Bis Auf's Messer are always a pleasure to deal with. SC Distribution have gone out of their way for me, as have Burnt Toast Vinyl. Lots of others are very good (DWI, Bridge9, BCD etc.), but that lot have been great.
  14. haha, it was delivered to my parents' place and my mom (who loved the packaging) asked me if it was "nice music". Told her it depends on your definition of "nice".
  15. Yeah, I got mine through this morning, very nice. Would've liked the tri-colour but it would've been more to pre order from DW. Cool, thanks. The tri-colour was my favourite too. I'll have to keep an eye out.
  16. Got the half/half this morning. Looks amazing. Thanks Tre/Jake/DWI. Are Amazon UK shipping the 'euro' colour? That German place have crazy shipping.
