Does anyone need this thing at cost, or close to it?  I got in on the initial pre-order and then locked in a Bull Moose copy since it was a bit cheaper.  I haven’t cancelled either yet, especially since Bull Moose can be a little hit or miss with their pre-order fulfillment.  I’d gladly hook someone up if they missed the boat and I end up with 2.

I might be interested.  Sending you a PM

Maybe I missed it, but is this remastered or anything? I saw the bonus track, but is that going to be on a separate 7"? I have a press of this already, and with the track lengths on each side, I can't see them squeezing this on a single lp.

Doesn't look like it. Just a re-issue with a few more packaging bells and whistles.

Instead of sand I think it would have been cool to have 'blue wave' liquid inside. Kind of like the blood filled Friday the 13th LP

I like that idea too. But instead of a straight color, it'd be cool if it's possible to do a mix of colors like a blue and white wave (which sounds like your idea).

Someone on Alcest's facebook page shot an idea of les voyages with peacock feather filled record. I'd buy that.

    The tonearm??? Oof.

Anyways, I think before I just go at it with a pair of pliers I'll look it up a bit, now that I know what the problem is... thank you for the input! I will be more careful, especially if I have to replace the cartridge.

EDIT: A quick bit of research says "Your stylus is really bent" and "Use a toothpick, not pliers".

Sorry, not tonearm, not sure why I said that haha. I was watching something while writing this.

    Good luck!

You see the stylus? It's over ~15 degrees from where it should be.

Yeahh, that might be your problem. Never had this happen to me but all I can think of is taking, like, a set of pliers or something and slowly forming it back into its place. If that doesn't work you might have to replace that part?

And be careful about playing any damaged or dirty records. That can seriously wreck your needle or, in this case, the tonearm.

You know what, I never played my OG US of this, as I bought it cheap, like $16.98, and was having issues with some colored vinyl pressings at the time.

I spun the warped German for just the first track on the waviest side, and my Thorens DID track it like a champ. 👍🏻

Just being a BRAND NEW record, I was so annoyed at the warpage.

It was only $20 back in the early ‘aughts, but money was SO tight back then.

I plan on purchasing one of those Japanese disc flatteners in the future, as I have a huge collection and a LOT of it is still sealed, which if you plan on keeping them and playing them, is a bad idea. 😜

As for the sound, It has been a while, but I remember the high end being a bit more defined on the German re-issue, but the Simply Vinyl had more low end “thump,” and sounded more like a LOT of my import LPs from the 90s.

I also preferred the text free cover art, and liked having both LPs in one jacket.

Very thorough answer hahaha. That's some pretty impressive restraint. I tear into new record I buy.

That's interesting, I'm curious how it compares to a nothing records pressing. Overall it sounds good to me but it can get really loud so I end up having to turn down the volume a lot. Chalk that up to a good DR I guess.

I can see a simply vinyl copy having a more low end sound profile. I've got a couple other SV releases and they have a similar more bass to mid-ended sound. Cranking up the high ends on my speakers is usually good enough to compensate for it.

I have it, and the colored vinyl USA press.

The former has some nice low end, but as some people mentioned in Discogs, it could be sourced from a CD master.

I actually wish I kept this German issue, as it sounded the best to my ears, but I mailed my copy back because it came warped:

Even better than the original nothing records pressings? Nice. What did you like more about the sound in comparison? I've got a colored pressing myself and have no qualms about the sound.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Warped records are the worst. I've never got any that weren't beyond repair with some heavy books and a flat surface, but it's still really annyoing.

Amazon Japan seems to have stopped shipping internationally (I have checked with the Mononoke OST). Do you know any other Japanese retailer selling Ghibli records?

I think this is because they aren't selling any stock through their own warehouse. If you look at who the seller is it appears to be through HMV.

They should have listings up soon and you should be able to buy through them directly. I'd be surprised if they don't ship internationally since I received an order from them not two weeks ago.

Amazon JP listings are up but not available for pre-order yet. Keep your eyes peeled:

  9. Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away coming soon in November.  Pre-orders are up on HMV but I'm sure these will start popping up soon everywhere else.

The original soundtrack for these 2 are both 2xLP but the second disc appears to only have music on side-C.

*HMV isn't shipping outside of Japan right now. Just tried checking out and they wouldn't let me complete my order.
