After spending a couple listens with the "mistake" variant, there's a sort of a troubling "whooshing" noise, especially noticeable throughout Side A, I see on discogs that this is a not uncommon issue.  I'm wondering if anyone with the other variants, especially just regular black could comment on the noise level of their pressing.  Debating about whether or not to send this back in hopes of a better sounding pressing or if this issue is just across the board and I just keep the one that looks the best.  Third man is so hit or miss with the quality issues

I think that's a consistent manufacturing defect with Third Man Records. I had the same exact issue with Amplifier Worship. I ordered the fanclub white/green eclipse variant off the NYD web store. When I reached out to them about the issue they told me it was a pressing issue. I was able to request a replacement disc, but the whooshing was present on that copy as well to some degree.

Shoddy quality control and they have the audacity to lock exclusives behind a subscription service.

Here's a snippet of the reply I got from NYD regarding Amplifier Worship:

"We showed the video you provided to Boris team, and explained the situation. It seems that it's the result of trouble that occurred during the pressing of the records, and some discs exhibit the noise while others don’t.

We still have spare stock of the product, so we would be able to send a replacement. However, there is the possibility that the replacement LP would also exhibit the same noise."

Vinyl is only a small fraction of Mondos branding.  It may be the focus in here, but overall its at best 10-15% of their revenue.

Is it really just a small fraction though? While I get that they focus heavily on other products like posters, board games and even figures, the fact that they decided to create a whole sub brand for their records I think speaks to just how big that part of their business has gotten.

Although this includes out of print items, they've got nearly 650 items listed on their records page while most other categories are under 200 (not counting posters since for some reason they've omitted out of print items here. I'm sure that number must be very high).

Honeslty don't know what to think.

Working on a assume benevolence attitude, maybe she's a fan and wants to do a live photoshoot/art thing for 20th anniversary or even 25th anniversary.

However, I can't help but think this just reeks of "I'm a failed model without any real relevance anymore and the search for more money is on"

I dunno, I think after the whole Nevermind baby drama people are just assuming she's calling this out for money or clout (at least in the comments a ton of people are jumping to that conclusion).

If you look at the tags she used for the post it would suggest she's pretty aware of the band and album. So, maybe she wants a collab?

    The score cover is incredible.

Just replying in case it wasn't common knowledge, but they will absolutely combine orders for you and refund you the shipping amount so you only have to pay it once.

I dunno. I listened to the OG press, then the ETR press, then the new repress. I could barely tell a difference between all three.

I don't have an OG to compare to but I always thought the ETR pressing sounded a bit thin. The mid frequencies don't sound as present. At least to my ears, the new reissue sounds like it bumps up the mids more so it sounds more balanced and has a bit more punch.

You're right though, it's not a night and day difference.

Hate the fact that I had to wait until release date to dig for any info regarding NYD/band variants. IIRC they at least hinted band variants for the Absolutego/Amplifier Worship reissues a week or so before the release date?

Regardless I did end up springing for the Vault variants; they might be sold at the TMR storefronts but outside of that I do think they'll be locked to members.

Yeah, agreed. I think you're right on that. There were more hints for those 2 releases. Third Man Pressing even had videos of them pressing those variants on their instagram.

Booo, that's lame. Although, the opaque jade isn't bad. Thanks for the info.

Welp.  I'm officially desperate for that artist-exclusive Flood.  Damn.  I personally like the indie "jade" that's available, today, a bit more than the TMR splatter for Flood... but that artist version is a beaut.  Worth noting is that the split version of NO is up on their bandcamp for $35 PPD at the moment.  It'd be a glorious day to grab that Flood variant in the same spot, for the same price.  Importing from NYD is mad pricey.

That's what I'm hoping for as well. Shipping costs from NYD increased so much post pandemic. It's practically the cost of a double LP on their site 😓

I'm curious to see how the Children of Bodom reissues from NESI sound in comparison to the Svart Records reissues from 2019 and 2020. As I already have the four Svart Records reissues, I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on these. I feel like all I am going to be missing out on is the numbered OBI and that sweet NESI paper they use for their covers.

According to Nesi they're "remastered from the original tapes by Mika Jussila" who seems to have done some mastering work for them in the past (According to discogs specifically Am Universum by Amorphis and *maybe* Spiritual Instinct). So, honestly you're probably right. I don't imagine it'll sound all that different than other pressings.

Both were clarified though. I remember having this conversation with someone and then going with the orange because it was clear rather than opaque like the yellow when preorders went up.

You're right, it was. I was really just commenting on the mocks since you can't really tell them apart. I personally went with the solid yellow since I don't think I own a single variant of that exact color.
