Risc said that this is an intentionally blank CD (that can be burned, but the bottom is CD silver, not CDr blue) with a "poem book" that happens to be the lyrics of Hands That Thieve. They said contact the SM fanbase if I need the mp3s to burn.

I contacted Risc. If they sent me this by accident, I will return it.

I could part with it, but for now I'd like to know some info. Why spend so much money on packaging and shipping to send a blank CD? The booklet is a full color photobook with lyrics for each song.

I did searches for Risc store and Streetlight Manifesto, couldn't find anything. I got a CD in the mail from Risc store. It has no band or title, but the track listing is the same from Hands That Thieve. I thought that they sent it by mistake so I went to their website to contact them, but all their contact info was down and they had this message: Now the contact option is back up. So I figured they sent these CDs to people who have ordered in the past. I opened it, but the CD is blank, no data. Car, stereo and computer play nothing. No tracks. Weird.

He said he doesn't want to pay more than $25. I never heard of this band, but their youtube video had 35 million hits. I don't think I've ever seen a youtube video with so many hits before, so I'm guessing they're super popular? I remember when Hopeless records started and it was a very small label.

The last record I sent you, I wrote "I'm a frisbee!" and drew a doodle of a hand tossing the mailer, but unfortunately that part was covered by the shipping label (which I placed to cover the "not" in "please do not bend"). Still waiting for my $0.75, Permy.

JGM, Most people here are in their 20s and buy the stuff you would find at Hot Topic. I don't know much about classic rock and those releases, but I have all the Billy Joel ones which I purchased for around $5 each in near mint condition a few years ago. 70s and 80s records pressed by mainstream labels have pressings into the hundreds of the thousands and are really a dime a dozen. A friend of mine in Japan who has bent over backwards for me getting me stuff has asked me to get this record for him, but none of the local Hot Topics (Tampa) have one. I was the sender in a trade. The package had 2 double LPs. Each record was placed outside the gatefold, on either side, and slipped into a 12x12 bubblewrap sleeve made specifically for records. Each sleeve also had a sturdy 12x12 cardboard sheet in them as well. So in addition to 4 layes of bubble wrap and 2 sheets of cardboard, i slipped in more cardboard protection and used a sturdy 13x13x1.5 record mailer. On top of that I shipped it priority to an address one hour away from me and they still managed to destroy the record.

Very nice. Usually I'm not in favor or records stucking out of the their cubby holes, but placed adjacent to the CDs, there is a nice rectangular flow going on.

Have you considered the possibility that some people just want to help the record get made?

Give me a chocolate one and I will. Well, at least my donation will help the record get made. Fucking freeloaders.

Thank you. I really appreciate that. The pricing is experimental. I put $400 dollars into the molds alone, the resin for each one is pretty expensive and about 12 hours of work goes into each piece. I'm flattered. Unfortunately, new vinyl releases in Japan pretty much stopped in 2006. 8 of the their last 9 major releases were put out on CD only. They do release a lot of limited quantity records, though. I'm missing one 7" limited to 13, another limited to 6, five 7"s limited to 33, and a 12" limited to 6. In August 2 more 7" are coming out, but very limited quantities (probably between 10 to 20) just for a live show. I can only hope for flippers to buy them.

I just scratched 2 off this week. I collect Balzac and they have some pretty rare stuff. They are a Japanese band and they often press records just to give away at their shows to fans at random. One was a release limited to only 17 copies that I scored in a Japanese auction. Another was an LP limited to 30. I've been searching for it for years and today I thought of actually emailing the label to see if they had any left. I was in luck.

When I lived overseas, anytime I record from the US took more than a week to arrive, they would arrived 3-4 weeks late and in the shape of a bowl.
