I often by/sell to people in Italy. There's a bad rep because of people saying, "I don't ship to Italy." The fear spreads unfairly. I did have the Italian PO destroy 1 record I ordered (according to the seller), but the seller was cool and sent a full refund. I'm most weary about US sellers who over-grade.

So I'm a Misfits collector and in our community, we have a strange problems. Our colored Earth ADs have been changing color. Its only apparent rent in the green and yellow copies. Over the past few years, a lot of the pure yellow copies have been turning brown. I have a green copy that used to be pure apple green, but lately has been turning cloudy with yellow/brown smoke. I'd post pics, but I'm not at my PC now. Its not just my copy, but almost everyone's green and yellows are decaying. It's kind of sad because these go for $1500 to $2000. Some of these copies haven't seen daylight, so it's not UV radiation. Some have been stored in paper, so it's not a reaction to plastic sleeves. So here's the question, do you have any 30 year old colored records in which the dyes have recently started to decay?

Just read page 80 of this thread. Some things: Buyers are inexperienced. If you sell sealed records, need to prepare yourself for dumbass buyers by writing these in your listings: 1. This record is sealed and very old. Many old records have mold or debri from paper inner sleeves. You can easily remove mold with a record cleaning solution. 2. Mold may also be found growing on the paper inner sleeves. You can replace them. Many records move around during transportation and cut through the inner sleeves. 3. It is recommended that you allow me to open the record to inspect. Further, it is not recommended to send a sealed record through the mail because they can split the seams in the jacket. I would gladly remove the record and gently place it outside the jacket for shipping. 4. The quality control in some modern record plants is not very good (GZ in Czech). Some records often come with scratches. By purchasing a sealed record, you agree not to hold the seller responsible for the condition of the record. It is recommended that you ask me to open and inspect the record before shipping.

Even though this took place years ago, I feel I owe it to new members to explain what happened. A few years back, I did something foolish. I was trying to circumvent the reserve fee on eBay. So I started my auction at something small, and used my wife's account (who had almost no feedback next to some feedback I gave her so she could get sales for her clothing auctions) to bid up to the reserve price I wanted. Why such a stupid move? Because years of eBaying showed me that things sell better when listed lower, but also you run a risk of selling what usually runs for $100 at $1 (that happened to me!) So some guys here figured it out and called me out. I canceled the auction, apologized to everyone, promised never to do it again, and read up on shill bidding which I didn't know was a thing, but is no excuse. It is against regulations and I'm grateful no one reported me. The bidder was pissed and never forgave me, that's fine. What I did was dishonest, wrong, and stupid. I'm grateful I got to learn the lesson so early. Some people though use it for ad hominem fuel to put me down.

Boo hoo hoo, Dave. I didn't overpay for the 7". It was priced that way because it was only played once. I paid for the quality and have no regrets. I played it twice, but now of am a mind where I no longer care about colored vinyl. And if you'd bother to read the listing a bit better, you'll see I didn't list a price, just what I paid. So thanks for being such a nice fella. As I said, I have no problems keeping the 7". The others are price nicely. The Uno, Dos, Tres were $30 each retail here. So at $30, I'm selling $60 less than I paid. Why? I don't like them. You're going to love my next thread when I ask for $400 for Screeching Weasel cassette. Maybe I'll list my Misfits stuff, too.

So you're complaining over nothing? Come on, this thread is to out scammers, not to accuse people of being shady when nothing happened.

Why thank you for the info. These are the prices I paid and I'm more than happy to keep the records. However, if someone else wants them for the same price, I'm willing to let them go. If not I'm sure you can find another seller.

Hello, I have some green day vinyl I'd like to sell. I'm located in Japan, but don't let that scare you away, we have the most affordable and efficient shipping in the world. Here's the list: 1. 1000 Hours - green vinyl, only played 3 times! Vinyl is NM, sleeve has typical wear. I paid $200. I would be happy to make that much back. The price was high because of the NM condition of the record. 2. Slappy - limer green vinyl w/lots of white clouding. Vinyl and sleeve in VG+ $75 3. Dookie - green vinyl, original German pressing, numbered to 10,000. VG+ $75 4. Welcome To Paradise, marbled green vinyl VG+ $15 5. Shenanigans - blue vinyl. Vinyl in great condition, but jacket has many creases at VG condition. A-side label has lots of air under it, indicating that 2 labels were accidentally pressed together. $35 (yes, this is the one on eBay) 6. Uno, Dos, Tre set, black vinyl, everything NM. $30

There is something wrong with ordering mailers from Japan. Yes, there are kick ass mailers in Japan. But it's much cheaper to order locally, and you can just tape on cardboard to make a good mailer, as I posted in "how to ship a record" thread.

Can't find your posts, but were the holes like someone jammed a letter opener through the entire package and record? Both times, that's what it looked like.

I must admit, I was wrong. The original intention of this thread was to highlight the package abuse that occurs during USPS transit. I've had 2 records arrived with holes going through both ends of the package (and the record inside), many of us have experienced broken records, and a lot of us had items simply disappear. On two occasions, I received records in the shape of bowls, both 4 weeks late. But it also appears there is some major transit fumbling occurring as well.

I think you're prematurely freaking out. If it's moving, that's good.

Never heard of any of these bands.
