I'd go Technics. Those tables are bullet proof and have been an audio standard for awhile. It doesn't have a tacky dangling anti-skate weight. And it has a RPM switch. How often do you switch between 33 and 45? Do you think messing with belts and pulleys would be a hassle? Finally, while a controversial opinion, the direct drive motors on the Technics are basically the best. Most audiophiles don't use direct drive because they want the motor as far away from the cartridge to avoid any electronic interference or hum pickup. But this issue is overstated, in my opinion. That said, the Music Hall has better isolation/dampening (though the Technics weighs more). The tonearm is also better.

Plug the turntable directly into speakers? I assume they are powered speakers (have a built in amp, like PC speakers or some studio monitors). You'd need to buy at least a pre-amp, as most decent turntables don't come with built in pre-amps (there are some exceptions, and some really cheap IONs come with built in pre-amps). Turntables don't output at line level, so you need the preamp to boost the signal. Also, due to the way full bass would take up groove space, records are mastered with a certain EQ curve (RIAA) to cut down on that, and you need a specific phono preamp in order to correct the EQ. So the short of it, you shouldn't plug a turntable directly into speakers, unless it has a built in pre-amp (and I can't think of any entry level audiophile turntables in your pricerange that have built in pre-amp).

J Church 7" Collection: Missing: "All the Wars" "Half And Half" and the related Cilantro "Empty Soda Can" I guess since I don't have a photo of my split 7" collection, I can't ask for those wants in this thread... Part of the issue with this thread idea is a lot of people don't want to take pictures until their collection is complete.

I'd like this gone. I know audiophile and punk rock don't always go hand in hand, but this seriously is a really good deal on new, tube equipment.

I have the Bjork boxset and may consider a trade. thacriddler, many of the items in Travis' list weren't available online, or weren't added. Some of the items you can search for the SKU and you can get the product page but it says sold out, and some say item not found. Those, I assume, were not available online during this sale (in store only, I guess, if any stock remains anywhere).

Dang. West Coast people and night owls lucked out on this one. I was also thinking that travis' list was going to be added to the online shop, which appears didn't happen (nor are there plans to do that). Not a whole lot left at this point. I feel like a sucker for buying some of those boxsets a couple weeks ago at 1/2 off clearance price, but sounds like it was a mad rush to grab them anyway. Way past my bedtime.

I'm selling a like new (barely used) Yaqin MS-12B tube phono pre-amp. The unit has two inputs, one for RIAA (phonostage) and one line level input (for any other component, like CD player, tape player, iPod, whatever). There are two different outputs as well, which output different voltages .7V and .25V. There is a level control knob. Not only will I include the original Chinese tubes, but you will get a full set of Tung Sol upgrade tubes as well (a $60 value). There is literally under 20 hours worth of use on it. This is not vintage equipment, this is part of the new wave of Chinese tube equipment being produced today. These retail for just under $250 shipped on ebay. Tubes are $60, so this is over a $300 value. (check out the stock photos in this auction here>) Could be yours for $225 plus shipping and any fees associated with the transaction.

Bumping an old thread. This still hasn't sold out, correct? 3000 copies at nearly $500 a pop. Have they ever gone or sale or been otherwise discounted? Seems like a neat boxset, but the price is unreal. Any deals out there?

What can you do? Not a whole lot, that's for sure. But I don't have a problem with calling people out online about it. Create a culture where that sort of stuff isn't accepted in our online communities. Take it elsewhere, or don't do it. Make it a stigma, or something to be ashamed of. While clearly not one of the top problems in the world be any means, and there tons and tons of much more important issues, I don't consider calling a flipper a flipper a waste of breath.
