  1. I really dig Wild Ones. I don't know where they fit into the Topshelf roster or the general indie pop/rock world but I'm glad they exist and tour Los Angeles enough for me to have seen them multiple times. The new track feels more like what you'd expect an electro pop-ish band to sound like, so I'm curious if the new album will be a shift towards a more categorizable sound.

  2. Hey! I have a handful of new or played once LPs for sale!

Football Etc. - Corner LP - Black pressing, limited to 250 copies. Unplayed duplicate (not sealed) I received from my Community Records label subscription after I had already bought it separately. Awesome LP. Note that it had a bunch of paper residue so I cleaned it on my Squeaky Clean and put it in a new poly sleeve. - $13 ppd

Thelma - Self-titled LP - Black/clear split, limited to 200 copies. Sealed. Very cool musician on the Tiny Engines roster but just not for me. -
     $19 ppd

Sam Cooke - Portrait of a Legend 2xLP - Sealed copy of a great comp of Cooke's music. - $22 ppd

Kevin Morby - City Music LP - Orange swirl VMP Edition. Played once. I can include the print, j card, etc. whatever it came with. - $18 ppd

James Vincent McMorrow ‎– VMP Secret 7" Single - I played this once. Not my bag but I know some here were into it. - $10 ppd

Knox Fortune ‎– VMP Secret 7" Single - I played this once too. Not my bag but I know some here were into it. - $10 ppd

Preoccupations - Self-titled LP - Secretly Society edition, taupe color. Sealed! - $21 ppd

Green Day - Shenanigans LP - Sealed. B-sides comp released in 2009. - $18 ppd

I signed up for this site just so I could comment on here. I follow someone on Instagram who said that their local Target is selling vinyl in-store now. I didn't believe so I went to the Super Target a city over from me and they actually were. It's a small selection, but it's there.

There were some releases on vinyl in stock at Targets in Southern California briefly recently. They got moved to the clearance aisles a few years ago and I haven't seen any since then.

    1. It's not a hub for a big city, quite the opposite.

    2. regardless of service, packages shouldn't stay more than 24 hours at an interm. hub

    3. bell gardens is widely known for this

this isn't my first media mail package through USPS, guy.

I live in Los Angeles and all my packages go through Bell Gardens. Are they a base for packages that go to cities outside LA county too?

I want to say Flood of Asbestos Records said something to this effect on this very message board: he was interested in pressing their early back catalog, the entire band was on board, but it was around the time that Yo Gabba Gabba was blowing up and whatever entertainment lawyer nerds own their catalog wouldn't license it out because they thought they could make bank doing it themselves.

Honestly, I would settle for a pressing of Charge!! It's their best album, and Nitro might be more willing to play ball.

    Edit: found it

Thanks for finding that post. I must have read that at some point considering my Freudian-ish mental image of the rights being locked away in a flooded, asbestos-coated basement.

Bummer that they denied the licensing request but also gave up the idea of releasing them themselves.

  6. I have an ugly rolling cabinet I built to dampen the volume of my shop vac (which I use along with a Squeaky Clean record cleaner). I just slap all my label stickers on there since it's already a gross plywood monstrosity. Otherwise, I'm too old/not punk enough to put stickers on anything resembling actual furniture or audio equipment.

Are you talking shit about Runaway or England?

Because they are the National, they dipped their toe into that sappy arena ballad pool and knew better than to keep going down that road but, for any other band, a song like Vanderlyle or England is the pre-cursor to having a college marching band on stage with you for your encore and the lead singer wearing a band leader costume or like a cape. Thanks to some course correction with Trouble Will Find Me, the songs are fine and just minor blips of concern to some fans and not the glaring beginning of the band's descent into persona self-parody. The slow ballads before and after High Violet are all aces (About Today, I Need My Girl, this new one...I didn't dig Heavenfaced but it's not as bombastic or anthemic so I just let it pass when it plays).

Hmm.  Not really.  Muscle & Bone is really the only emo band I've worked with.  I may have one of their tapes around somewhere.  I have both their LPs.  A good amount of the bands are more rock or poppy like The Kids' Crusade, Family Cat, Sundale, Crosseyed, Man The Change, Colour Me Wednesday, and the two Pizza Underground tapes.. So there's a decent amount that aren't heavy at all but not a lot of emo emo.

I really appreciate the suggestions. I dig Colour Me Wednesday. I have that Spoonboy split that they did. I'm definitely gonna check those other bands out too. Thanksz

Variety of genre, most will be our label's tapes but I'll sprinkle in some distro stock too.  Take a gamble. Help us make some space.  If you buy more than one you may get some doubles, but I'll see what I can do.

Sorry to be that guy but do you have any tapes in your discography from bands that would be similar to Muscle and Bone? I really dig them and see them in your shop but the cover art for everything else gives me a metal/hardcore vibe (which I'm not a big fan of). What bands would you point me to?

A FTT repress is not only grossly overdue, but also rumored for a while now.  I don't think that hint is too "on the nose" either – initials of a city that's in the title of a bonus track?  Unless I'm missing something else here.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Strokes and Interpol were the big 3 that came from that same Brooklyn, NY scene in the early 2000s. The National were there too but broke a few years after. Maybe I'm overestimating the general vinyl fan's knowledge of that time period but it seems super, super obvious as a clue for a YYY repress of that early record.
