  1. such a well done release, looks amazing, sounds amazing ...that Pilot to Gunner LP is pretty righteous also, glad I included that in my order
  2. I know there's a lot of people who've had bad issues with Captured Tracks, thankfully I've never had a problem buuuut...anyone receive their order for this? I know things got a little slow at Captured Tracks with Hurricane Sandy, but I still haven't received mine, and they don't seem to enjoy answering emails...
  3. i think a few people did who got at them early, but a lot of folks, myself included, didn't get anything...not even an email reply (asides from initial email replies stating that "oh, it's just getting shipped from the plant" or "they'll be going out soon")...grrrr
  4. not sure if shipping is much better here, but it's an american site i think - http://www.musicdirect.com/p-91585-kestrels-a-ghost-history-lp.aspx
  5. Just mentioned this to the guys - their label has good distro in the states apparently (thru The Orchard), so if the shipping is outta hand, you should be able to pick it up at your local indie store. Canada Post is STUPID expensive for shipping
  6. Dunno if this was ever posted here, but this is probably my fave if not one of my fave records of this year, Halifax's Kestrels have always been putting out some quality stuff (a couple 7"s and one 12" prior), but this record is just amazing - 90s indie rock inspired rave-ups with a heaping splash of Creation-style shoegaze. You can snap up a copy here - http://www.sonicunyon.com/records/artists/%20kestrels I really think a bunch o' people here would dig it. Stream the whole record here, worth a listen: http://kestrels.bandcamp.com/ Apparently they're running out of copies quick, so hop on this if you can. Rad dudes, the band I play in toured with them this summer and they're playing SXSW in March too. Booking a tour of the US to Austin beforehand too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZaKHckwVOg&feature=youtu.be
  7. just pulled the trigger on this after kicking myself for not doing so earlier...let's see if it gets cancelled...
  8. Did anyone get the Jesu Matador singles club 7"? Apparently they had a small # available off of the Jesu bandcamp, gone now tho. So far I'm only missing that, Conqueror, and Sunrise/Sundown on wax to complete my collection.
  9. I think it was a plant delay or something cuz the band I play in opened for them about a month ago and they didn't even have them with them on tour
  10. Shockingly good record. Didn't expect they still had it in them, I'd even go so far to say I think it's their best.
  11. URL doesn't work...pretty interested in checking this out, I felt pretty dumb purchasing the Merge Copper Blue Reissue considering I got the 180gram issue that Ryko put out maybe a year before and already owned a 1st press of Beaster. Not sure if that Ryko one was remastered, but I'll say this, the Merge reissues sound fantastic.
  12. Best label in Canada, puts out amazing stuff. Check out Kestrels, We Need Secrets and Cold Warps while yer at it.
  13. Pretty sweet 3xLP issuing of the Ash A-Z 7" single series. Sounds like sweet packaging and I'm hearing it's selling fast (the covers EP Noyes put out in the summer sold out pretty fast). http://noyesrecords....a-z-series-3xlp Check out the label in general too, Noyes is probably my fave label these days, let alone what I think is the best label in Canada. Solid solid goods. Kestrels, Cold Warps and We Need Secrets especially are amazing.
  14. RIYL - Pixies, Cloud Nothings, RFTC, Talking Heads Hey kids, so some friends of mine are putting out a 7" soon w/ a couple songs I recorded for them. I think some of you might dig the tunes, check it out here - http://younglungs.bandcamp.com/ Aaaaand AltPress premiered their new video today too! - http://www.altpress.com/aptv/video/premiere_young_lungs_blood_on_the_streets They also recently covered the Unicorns for a comp to benefit the local campus/community radio station I work at - http://cjlo1690am.bandcamp.com/track/the-clap-the-unicorns Lemme know what ya think! They're playing Pouzza Fest this May if any of you are gonna be in Montreal. They have a couple NYC shows coming up too.
