  1. No the shipping price was super expensive. From my experience this thing probably cost $15 to ship via Priority in the states depending on what part of the country you live in. Maybe $35 to Canada is more realistic? So they are pocketing around $20/box which I wouldn't care about except that they pretended that the extra $$ was going into super protected signed delivery which wasn't true. They should have just sold them for a flat $135/shipped and this wouldn't even be an issue.
  2. Also for those of you with shipping/damage issues you have a legitimate complaint as they insinuate that they would be shipped with signature confirmation via USPS or UPS/FedEx since they say "our decision to only ship via trackable delivery services as we do not want any of these box sets getting damaged, lost in the mail or stolen from anyone's doorstep." Nothing is stopping anyone from stealing anything with requiring a signature upon delivery. The only thing they actually followed through on out of their 3 reasons was "lost in the mail" with the tracking that is included with Priority shipping.
  3. If it came down to it you could probably complain to your credit card. I don't think the fact they sent it Priority matters whatsoever. It's not that hard to make sure items don't get damaged if you package them properly. And obviously you aren't the only one with this issue. Out of principle if mine is messed at all I'll be bitching since they charged 2x what they should have.
  4. Still no tracking info for mine on usps's website. I'm hoping that since they got complaints about damaged boxes that they are taking the time to package the rest properly. I tend not to be super anal about dings and seam splits but since they specifically said they were charging so much for shipping to protect them from damage they should probably get it right.
  5. I got the "shipped" notification Friday from them and I just asked them for the tracking #. They got back to me asap with a number but the USPS site just says "electronic shipping info received" as of Friday. So I don't think that they've all gone out yet even though they sent shipping notices. Pretty lame that people's boxes are dinged up. $35 for shipping is pretty ridiculous. For them not to be packaged properly at that price is almost a slap in the face. I've don't think I've ever even broken $15 for Priority on anything I've bought before. But I guess it is still under what some people paid on RSD.
  6. Anyone who contacted them for a tracking # actually know if yours went out yet? Cause from the sounds of this they haven't even got them yet. I'm hoping for those of us who got "shipped" notifications that we will be in the first batch and won't have to wait for however long it takes to get the next set pressed.
  7. That is my problem with the phrase and why I think the industry needs a stricter definition placed on it. You could press 1 million copies of this box and then press 1 million more and it is still "limited" because an infinite number weren't pressed. And dantheriver is right. who gives the "RECORD STORE DAY LIMITED RUN/REGIONAL FOCUS RELEASES" info to the RSD people? It doesn't even come close to fitting that category for multiple reasons. So people should really be upset with them if anything.
  8. If they are smart they just do a black repressing like others have mentioned and that way pretty much everyone will be happy. Their website still shows it as "Limited". Over the past few years that word's value has deteriorated. To keep making pressings of the identical album to me shouldn't be considered limited. I feel if you are going to advertise that (which they did) then you should disclose the pressing details and keep them at that. But I see bands do it all of the time. I suppose maybe they didn't realize the demand would be so high for this. But maybe they did. Saying that it was "limited" gets a lot of people to make a rush judgement and even possibly spend $$ they can't really afford right then and there because they think that this is their 1 chance to own it. Where if they knew if would be available later (the LCD box was this way correct?) they could just hold off and get it whenever they'd like. Regardless, I got one yesterday and I can still pay my rent so I don't really care. But I do feel bad for the people who weren't flippers who waited in line for hours or spent crazy amounts on ebay when apparently none of that was needed.
  9. Same here, and it is still that price shipped to the US after they remove the VAT. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00IXLQJ8U
  10. That's exactly how i read it as well. I'm doubting they'll have the stuff that is supposedly sold out.
  11. It was originally listed as $13,500. For those confused the person who started the kickstarter is not pocketing the $$ or the record. Some is going direct to RDJ, some to charity and some to the person who put it up on discogs. The record itself will go on Ebay. All the details can be found here: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/82975-the-caustic-window-lp-cat023-kickstarter-faq-live-now/
  12. I'm loving this album already. Another new track: https://soundcloud.com/glitterhouse/wovenhand-the-refractory
  13. Anyone else know of any forums that might be useful for something like this? I only really frequent here and a few smaller band specific ones. And again thanks everyone for ttrying to help me out.
  14. Don't confuse the # of watchers for the number of interested buyers. A lot of people will watch items on ebay just to see if/when they sell so they know what they might be able to get for it.
  15. same thing i've been going through for years with google searches. the person i got it from and i were from a pretty small town in western ny with no real access really underground bands back then so perhaps it's a band from around that area or something.
  16. Hi, i was recently going through some old mixed cassettes and came across a song I had forgotten about. I know the tape is from around 1994 but I can't figure out what song this song is and it is driving me nuts, so i ripped it and put it on youtube. Any 90's people happen to know this one? Google searches didn't do me a lot of good. thanks for the help
  17. Vinyl Factory prices are high but they make some amazing products. And they have the best customer service I've ever experienced. I once ordered a David Lynch album they released from Amazon. When i pre-orderd it it said it was signed by Vaughan Oliver who designed a lot of 4ad artwork of which i was a fan. When I got it it was not signed. So I emailed VF who apologized and said that the signing never happened. He then asked if he could offer me something else. I told him that i was bummed that i missed out on the limited XX signed 3lp set they did the previous year and if he ever found any extras to let me buy one. Well a couple weeks later a copy of the XX signed set showed up at my house with an apology letter. Who else does that?
  18. I grabbed a copy. I grew up on Wax Trax!, Zoth Ommog etc. I kinda gave up on the "scene" when "future pop" became the hot item but I definitely appreciate bands going back to that old school ebm sound. That being said, Youth Code was getting a decent amount of press and it took them a while to sell out of the 400 copies of their debut LP on red (the 100 smoke did go in a few hours) so I'd expect this to be around for a bit.
  19. I used the SG presale code on ticketmaster and after about 30 tries of pulling up crap seats I had a pair of 4th row centers in my cart. I usually do the NIN presales but this time I went with the SG one because I'm not 100% sure I'll still be around Detroit this summer. So I was hoping ticketmaster would do physical tix but at least for the SG presale today it was also will call only. So I ended up letting the row 4s go and I'll try again later in the week for regular hard tix.
  20. Ordered from Amazon UK. I can live with $38 shipped even though that is still overpriced.
  21. gotta agree with b.nation on this one. I've been shocked at the seemingly universal praise of this album. I think it's okay but no better than ATL or AFP. But I think Perils was an absolute masterpiece compared to those 2 albums.
