  1. That's not at all the impression I get. Nothing in there even remotely suggests the "possibility that her accusation is false". It reads like he's just trying to distance himself from the whole thing.
  2. Seriously seriously. And the Conan demos are fucking awesome, no reason to worry.
  3. P.S. This is easily the best thing the band have ever done. Lol that they decided to release their crowning achievement as a fuck you / thank you freebie.
  4. Yeah, me too. I was gonna be all reasonable after quick ordering the blue & yellow Blood Music general purposes edition, but I decided to pass on the Wax Mage/Not Wax Mage version and have been regretting it since. Gruesome Twosome seemed an inexpensive make-up option. Wax looks satisfactorily Gizzardish, and I dig the sepiatone cover.
  5. Eh, it's about as admirable as Sean Hannity fans smashing their Keurigs. Take that however you will...
  6. In celebration of Polygondwanaland Day (Nov. 17th), every record label in the world has announced that they will print 10 copies of the album every year forever.
  7. People are now much less willing to accept sexually predatory behavior than they were even a short time ago, especially where children are concerned. This is a good thing. We've for far too long tolerated (and in a not-so-subtle sense tacitly encouraged) the worst from men. As a culture, we've indulged harassment, exploitation, rape and even child abuse. We've silenced and humiliated victims, said "boys will be boys" while walking away. We've treated serious sex crimes as harmless - or at least inevitable - expressions of energetic masculinity. They are not. Our tolerance has constituted a sort of permission, and if we really want these things to stop, we've got to stop turning a blind eye.
  8. Good interview. Especially this: I learned really early on that, despite the word 'cult' being used for a number of beloved films, those are not cult films. This is by no means an insult to anyone who loves these movies, but there is a tier thing happening here that needs to be considered. If you like Star Wars or Ghostbusters, that's great and those are great movies, but those are definitely not cult films. RoboCop is not a cult film anymore. Gremlins is not a cult film. So, what are the cult films from the past 15 years? What's a movie that no one seemed to like when it came out, but there's a fanbase out there who not-so-secretly loves that movie? Josie And The Pussycats is one of those movies.
  9. Lol, it makes u enter the phone number (in precise "000-000-0000" format) even if the phone number is already in the buyer's profile on the order page. It's almost touchingly inept.
  10. No, I'm pretty sure they found a network of dimly-lit cages and a pit full of human bodies in various stages of decomposition up at his Aspen place.
  11. So far as I know, Prince never had sex with anyone. So, at least we still have that.
  12. Thanks for this, Mr. Shidt! Picked up the Requiem for a Dream Soundtrack and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. Wish they'd issue more of their older, CD-only catalog of classical & avant-garde stuff on vinyl.
  13. Yop. This amazing new Discogs service not only costs more than shipping via PayPal, it isn't integrated with USPS records, it often negates PayPal seller protections, and it appears to have been programmed at the last minute by lazy grade-schoolers.
  14. I don't. We're mostly just expressing brand loyalty this time out, like picking a back patch for your jacket. And Blood Music is one of my favorite labels going these days (along with Castle Face and very few others), so I'll be psyched to "wear" their version. What I'm really waiting on are the crazy versions, like the one that comes spread out over a bunch of different colored, sized and shaped singles. Or the one housed in a pop-up book designed by scarecrowoven (ltd. to 5 hand-signed copies each with silkscreened poster). Or the one that's been taught to a custom-bred parrot.
  15. Yeah, it really is. A word that gets used way too much and is rarely apppropriate, but in this case, I have to agree. Great, sly joke on / gift to collectors and "collectability" itself.
  16. Lol, I'm inclined to put the 4 (or is it 5?) girls he sleazed on (that we know about) at the top of the list. And then probably their parents. And then, maybe, Jesse's wife, who's got way more reason to forgive than anyone here. Sure, everyone's guilty of something. Doesn't mean we shouldn't speak unkindly of those who get caught with their hand in the little girl jar.
  17. Yeah, I dunno. To me, Judge Roy Moore is a disgusting pedo creep. He never pursued "prepubescent children", but he obviously had a thing for little girls. He fondled a 14-year-old and creeped hard enough on her peers to get banned from the local mall. I'm perfectly comfortable calling him a pedophile. Whether or not my usage is technically accurate, the sick fuck deserves that label and all the opprobrium that comes with it. I'm tempted to say the same of Jesse. If the stories we're hearing are true, he specifically targeted starstruck girls in their mid-teens. He didn't just happen to hit on someone who looked "mature for her years" that one time. He had specific tastes and he (apparently) made an intentional pattern of pursuing them. I've got no problem hauling out the P-word for that kind of thing.
  18. Yes, that's technically correct. But outside medical diagnosis, here in the everyday real world, pedophiles are people who fuck kids. Technical distinctions about the exact age of pubescence aren't germane.
  19. That's all well and good. Most decent people are gonna be with you on all that. It's just a question of timing. Now is not the best moment to make a big public show of sympathy for and goodwill toward the abuser. You may think it's morally important to do so, but lots of people are going to find that kind of white-knighting a little tone deaf. In the present moment, again, I think it's probably best to concentrate our sympathy on the victims. That said, I don't see all that many people in this thread outright attacking Jesse, at least not to a troublesome degree. No one's calling for his balls to be nailed to a mint, colored-vinyl copy. And if you can be "honestly disgusted" by people who post in a less than civil manner, then I can be disgusted by rape apologists.
  20. Lol, this is a brand new wound (soda speak). It'll be time to talk about the rehabilitation and forgiveness of the child molester in a decade or two. For the moment, ALL of our sympathy and attention should be focused on his victims.
