  1. No surprise, given you could fit three Chop Sueys in the Showbox...
  2. Fuck. Why don't the people I kill ever have any fucking money?
  3. Here's hoping it's more Formulas of Death and less Children of the Night.
  4. How do I get over the sense that Prurient/Hospital is an admirable work ethic bolted to a highly refined aesthetic sensibility set in furious motion absent anything interesting to say?
  5. Think the last batch they put up was just "overstocks and cancellations"...but yeah, I'm still waiting on mine, too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  6. Kind of psyched for the BOC rarities set. Then again, I'm sure copies will still be floating around for cheap a year from now...
  7. 8. Oh hell yeah. Got my order in as soon as it went up cuz the preview track is ace. Then spent a pleasant afternoon jamming The Intelligence, A Frames and similar (Protomartyr, Viet Cong, Soft Moon, Savages, etc).
  9. Yeah, I feel the same. The box was sold out by the time I noticed it, but all I really want are the first two tour EPs on (non-picture-disc) vinyl. The rest I've already got.
  10. That's how I feel about many (if not most) of the reissued soundtracks that clog the market these days. I bought and quickly sold Waxwork's version of Ennio Morricone's The Thing because for all the fancy packaging, it just didn't sound that great. Picked up a gently used copy of the '82 original on MCA and never looked back. Same goes for Rosemary's Baby and Don't Look Now. Both fantastic soundtracks, but I find the overdesigned, aesthetically dubious "collectible" reissues a lot less appealing than some of the original editions, most which can still be had for reasonable sums. Would love to see the companies that specialize in this focus a bit more on worthwhile genre soundtracks that haven't yet made it to vinyl. For instance, I'd love to have Michael Nyman & Damon Albarn's Ravenous, Angelo Badalamenti's The City of Lost Children, and Carles Cases' Dagon on wax. But I'm sure they know better than me what the people want.
  11. Okay, first of all, I finally got my records! Yee-ah. Only took about a week once I finally got a hold of Matt (who rules). That said, I did exactly the same as you, Joshua, and had similar problems. There's a small scratch/mark on side A of my "Orc-skeined Water" copy, but as with yours, it doesn't seem to affect play. In fact, it plays quite well, with very few clicks or pops and a reasonably low level of surface noise. I was prepared for worse, given the tricky pressing. The other two seem fine. Poisonous Bloom was coated in nasty grit, but I'd heard in advance that might be the case and was super careful in removing the disks from the sleeves. Gave them a thorough cleaning, dusted out the sleeves, and it's good to go. Gilden Axehead has no obvious problems. With those three, I also ordered two copies of King Gizzard's Mind Fuzz on clear w/ black smoke. Unsurprisingly, I only received one. Kind of a bummer, but Matt refunded the item price and most of the shipping charge for my whole order within a few hours of my writing Castle Face about it, so I've got no complaints. I suspect everyone over there is pretty consistently relaxed, if you know what I mean... I don't think they'll replace the colored vinyl versions in kind. They explicitly said up front that they couldn't, that they could only promise to exchange lost or damaged colored vinyl for black. If you want to exchange more than one and don't want multiple black vinyl copies, I suspect they'll offer a partial refund. I doubt that your copies are much worse than most others out there, though. And even if you did get colored vinyl replacements, they'd probably be similar. If I were you, I'd keep and/or sell what you have.
  12. ^ Yup, along with their "Lucky Red" vinyl version of Naturality. Plus they've got two versions of King Gizzard's Mind Fuzz (clear w/ black smoke & "Magentan Invasion") and one of Quarters ("Half Berry, Half Blender") in stock. And a ton of cool records new & old on sale for $5 each. Bought way too much stuff ;_;
  13. Just got a note from Matt - who is really quite nice, and I should be flogged for suggesting otherwise - saying that he's reshipping my order. Apparently they did have someone covering the shop while the band was on tour, but he was "in over his head a little". Which I can totally understand. Because the mania. I blame Rollins.
  14. I've checked their fb page several times over the past few weeks. If there's anything in there I should have taken to mean orders will be delayed & emails won't be answered, I didn't (and don't) see it.
  15. You may have a point, but if you're running a company, having someone check your emails maybe once a week seems kind of basic.
  16. Yikes! Shut my mouth. I hope I do hear from them, cuz I've been frustrated about this for a couple weeks now...
  17. Here's the thing: I ordered 1 of each version when the second set of preorders went up. I received notice the very next day (Saturday, September 9th) that my order had shipped. Two weeks later, it hadn't arrived and the USPS tracking link they sent me still had it in "Pre-Shipment" status. So, on Sept. 23, I sent Castle Face a note. It was friendly and short, basically just asking what was up with my order, had it shipped yet, that kind of thing. No reply. I waited another week, and on Sept. 30, I sent them a second note. It was similar to the first, though a bit more direct about my worries. I'm pretty poor and don't often spend $100+ on a single vinyl order. No reply. In a few days, it'll be a month since they supposedly shipped my order. I'm going to send yet another email this Friday, but I don't expect to hear back from them. I guess I have to file a PayPal claim, something I've never once had to do in nearly a decade of online vinyl buying. And I'm really fucking bummed. I've been a fan of John Dwyer's music & noise since forever. I saw Pink and Brown on their final tour, saw Zeigenbock Kopf wreck the Comet Tavern, saw The Coachwhips several times before Oh Sees even existed. I've been collecting Oh Sees (et al) vinyl & going to their shows since 2005/6. And this has cast a small shadow on that. I still love the band, though I no longer live in a place where I can see them often, but it's hard not to view Matt & Castleface with frustration.
  18. I'm new (o hai), but thanks to ericness for the post that got me on the standby mailing list. Finally caught one in this last round.
  19. I first came across the VC forums long ago, in ages lost to the mists of time. I suppose I "knew" in some animal sense, but was not aware. Floral Shoppe changed everything. Like so many others, I was all innocent ageek last Wednesday. Google it branged me hither, and I happened to notice ericness's post about OESB's standby list (thank you, btw). That evening, I composed a brief but respectful message to be shunt out Oregon way by means of the electrical mail. And came today the call-up: 50 fresh copies hot for to grip. The money button flashed before my eyes, and by the time I'd cleared PayPal, to the last they were gone. A cold understanding dawned within... This isn't a hobby. It's war. And I could use me a army.
