  1. People usually draw those sorts of lines when & where something hits home. The more you care about and have invested in an artist, the more you'll feel personally betrayed when they do something awful. So it makes sense that those who really cared about Brand New are among the most troubled by the revelations about Jesse. There's no reason to think people have to apply a uniform principle to all similar cases.
  2. Ordered the blue & yellow splatter off Blood Music. This is so weird. Figure 10 years down the line, there will be hundreds of more-or-less "official" variants floating around. Discogs page is gonna be a nightmare...
  3. Doesn't really have anything to do with rock'n'roll in particular. Look at "the honorable" Roy Moore, hardly the epitome of teen rebellion. It's all just generic rape culture bullshit.
  4. Do you suppose it will sound like guitars depreciating while their owner yells himself a prolapse? Asking for a friend...
  5. Fucking disgusting. It IS Jesse's fault that he sexually preyed on kids. It is NOT the fault of his child victims that they were slimed by this creep. Yes, you are. Saying otherwise changes nothing.
  6. I don't. You've lied; so I feel pretty comfortable calling you the liar you obviously are. And you're too helplessly stupid to be worth the time a real discussion might take. So let's just leave it at that.
  7. If you're trying to hold back the mob, why not just say that there's no reason to rush to judgement? You say you're playing devil's advocate, but really you're just trotting out the generic playbook for rape denial: he's a good family man and she's mentally ill, repeat until the victim slinks off into a corner and is never heard from again.
  8. But it's not like there's been any shortage of misogynist bullshit in this thread, what with Sunshine straight-up lying about Larkin Grimm...
  9. Exactly! It's gaslighting at a distance, without even the courage to speak clearly. There's no reason and no excuse to mention her mental state, especially not when followed up with the sneakily accusatory, "But if her reputation is truly on the line..." bit.
  10. I was beyond psyched about Nonagon when it came out, but it hasn't aged at all well for me. Still love "Gamma Knife", but rarely want to hear the whole album from front to back. Louderized mix grates no matter how I listen, and I usually get bored/irritated before it's half over. Lots of action on the surface, but nothing much going on underneath. Mind Fuzz was my first exposure to King Gizzard, and it's still my favorite, with PM Dream Balloon a reasonably close second. Of the 2017 onslaught, I figure FM Banana and Brunswick East are the keepers - both quite good but a little shy of their best work.
  11. A different situation, sure, but one that echoes what he's accused of: using his celebrity to seduce & sexually manipulate very young girls.
  12. Good enough! You'll carry on being an irresponsible asshole, and I'll carry on being stupid. SORTED
  13. Again, complete horseshit. I'm simply saying that I don't know. Because I don't. I'm not involved. I not only have no reason to take sides, I don't even think I have a real right to. I mean, only an asshole jumps in drawing conclusions and pointing fingers based on incomplete personal stories received secondhand through social and other media. Especially when those stories have no bearing on the lives of people not involved. Here's the thing. I break information down into two basic categories: 1) Reality - That's what I experience myself, see with my own two eyes. 2) TV - That's all the shit I hear about secondhand, through social media, news, stories from friends & family, "word on the street", whatever. I believe very (VERY) little of the latter and only about half of the former.
  14. I don't pretend to know the truth when I don't. I don't treat secondhand accounts as facts. And I don't call people liars lightly. If that makes me stupid, then guilty as charged.
  15. If one has brains, one understands that "easy" conclusions based on circumstantial evidence are not to be trusted.
  16. She's never publicly withdrawn the accusation. And no party other than those involved (including, perhaps, Siobhan) has seen anything definitive. The rest of us know nothing but what we've heard second-hand, and it's irresponsible to pretend we've got some special line on the truth.
  17. Nothing's been proven one way or the other. It's still a matter of two conflicting, unverifiable stories, and it's likely to remain so forever. I mean, what proof might conceivably emerge at this late date? A hidden camera video? Given all that, it's shitty to call her a "liar" like it's some god-given fact.
  18. Married guys with kids do shitty stuff sometimes, just like everyone else. Just no.
  19. Me too (been a long time looking, I mean). I salute & envy you in equal measure.
  20. Yeah, it's a shame they broke up so soon thereafter. Black Forest (the Sub Pop LP) is damn good, but A Frames (their debut) is far and away my favorite. Since last time: Boglin - Pupseria soundtrack (2 copies, red & yellow, yes I am a sucker [all day]) Orb - Birth ("Noxious Cloud") and Naturality ("Lucky Red") - part of a massive Castle Face order consisting mostly of $5 sale items ...the rest of that Castle Face order, which I won't detail, but it included King Gizz, Fresh & Onlys, The Blind Shake, The Herms, Trin Tran, and a bunch more Angelo Badalamenti - Fire Walk With Me soundtrack (European reissue on WB/Rhino with the original art) - fuck those ridiculous Death Waltz versions Michael Nyman - The Nyman/Greenaway Soundtracks (4LP box) Jay Reatard - Blood Visions (RSD reissue from a year or two back, white vinyl w/ demos 7" on red) - my old ITR copy's getting wornded out John Coltrane - Coltrane (early 70s 2LP Prestige set combining remastered versions of Soultrane and Traneing In) - cheaper than buying them separately
  21. Speaking of stupid band names, WHERE IS GHOULGOTHA VINALS!?!
  22. It's partly, yeah, that Mondo has cultivated a horde of zombie Ketchums who'll snap up just about anything the label puts out. But it's also that Cinevox's standard Suspiria soundtrack artwork is a fucking hideous design abortion. It's one of the best horror soundtracks ever recorded, and while the relatively scarce EMI, Barclay, Odeon & Attic editions look fair-to-decent, I've been waiting decades for an edition that visually complements the music & film .
