  1. You can listen here: https://sheermag.bandcamp.com Spoiler alert: it still sounds pretty dang crunchy
  2. For everyone who recognizes how hard this band rules but doesn't buy 7"s, you can now get their first 3 EPs on a 12". I already received my copy after ordering it last week, so not really a preorder. http://wilsunsrc.bigcartel.com/product/sheer-mag-compilation-lp-preorder
  3. I don't know what to say to this shit. Dude was born on third. Given his starting position in life, he'd be an abject failure if he was anything less than a multi-billionaire, which, again, due to his refusal to release his tax returns, we don't even know to be the case. It is documented and demonstrable that he uses his largesse to take advantage of small businesses. Not a question of "failure" - a question of integrity. The fact that he constantly boasts of his successes and great material wealth and yet devotes virtually none of it to making the world better or helping those less fortunate, to me, is a sign of an immense moral deficiency. I'm not even talking about taxation, I'm talking about philanthropy. There is nothing in his words or deeds that give me the impression that he cares about anyone lower than him.
  4. Huge LOL @ "hand made in Italy". So glad that a canvas print of a picture taken on a phone - a thing I can also get at Walgreens - can now be made way less efficiently and shipped to me across the ocean from a country with a notoriously unreliable postal service.
  5. 1. I don't disagree with what you're saying. I don't pay more taxes than I have to, either. My concern is that without the release of his tax returns, there is a reasonable doubt that he hasn't done shady things to avoid paying taxes. He's already admitted to engaging in self-dealing with the Trump Foundation, as well as other fund misappropriation, who's to say there isn't more? 2. Given the hundreds of cases of Trump failing to pay workers, it seems there are two possibilities: Trump is either a bully who knows he can get away with shorting workers & contractors who are relatively powerless, or he has extremely poor judgment in hiring workers. Many of these cases seem clear cut - it's hard to imagine how this guy could have done a bad job carrying out his end of a simple piano purchase. 3. For shame, sir. Do you mean to impugn the super legitimate medical condition that prevented our president-elect from serving his country? 4. From 2008 to last summer (when he was essentially shamed into actually following through on his promise to donate a million dollars to "the troops"), under $10,000 is the best estimate given the information that's publicly available, and it absolutely fucking isn't a lot of money when we're talking about a billionaire. If, in fact, he does have a billion dollars (something else we don't actually know), he could give away $10,000 a day for 200 years and still be obscenely wealthy. The man is famously and demonstrably not charitable. This is probably the easiest hill to avoid dying on with Trump. Just deflect using the fact that he employs X amount of people, and how that's somehow a generous gesture, and move on. The qualifiers for voting should be citizenship and adulthood. Anything beyond that is an affront to democracy.
  6. Fair enough. How about the content of my post? I'd love to hear why land mass should have any bearing whatsoever on representation. You ever driven through North Dakota? There's nothing there! A North Dakotan's vote doesn't deserve more weight just because every single house is surrounded by 50 square miles of barren plains. The electoral college system is well-intentioned but it seems to have led to exactly what it was trying to prevent, where candidates concentrate their efforts in certain states and ignore others. Ohio and Florida receive way more attention than they would if each state weren't winner take all. I read an interesting piece (that I'm now unable to find) about how Texas may someday soon become a swing state, in which case campaigns could essentially focus 90% of their efforts there and win the election. It also depresses opposition turnout in dark red and blue states, leading to results that don't truly reflect the constituency.
  7. Uhhh dude, by a lot of these metrics, a healthy percentage of the country would be more qualified to vote than Donald "Income Tax Dodger/Contractor Stiffer/Bone Spur Haver/Under $10K in the Last 10 Years Giver" Trump, so aside from the fact that the history of voting restrictions in the US is racist, sexist and anti-poor, this maaaay not be a productive tangent for you.
  8. Yo, fuck this guy. Hope he gets banned from everywhere and has to search "BAND ALBUM ZIP" for stuff like a rube. Also, Apollo had completely open signups for like 2 whole days shortly after What's demise, and they have been pretty generous with invites. Plus there are interview opportunities via IRC, as mentioned earlier. It should be mad easy to get in. Apollo is decent enough, but there seems to be a dearth of experienced moderators/editors/curators to keep things in order. A good fallback tracker to take up Waffles' mantle, since Waffles itself seems down for the count at this point.
  9. I was alerted through the PIAPTK mailing list and went through the whole process as fast as physically possible, still missed out on the LP by itself :-/. Was able to check out with the 2-pack w/ the Be Gulls LP, so we'll see how that goes.

  12. http://www.doomtree.net/2016/12/13/p-o-s-chill-dummy-album-announcement/ http://store.doomtree.net/category/pre-order Limited yellow vinyl only available with the bundle, and doesn't ship until March. I bought it without even thinking because I am a huge dumbshit.
  13. This technology has existed forever under various names: Soundwagon, Record Runner, and my personal favorite: The Vinyl Killer. It also sounds like ass, as you might imagine.
  14. Mondo's already been mentioned, so I'll add that Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab also licenses titles from every major label (including platinum selling albums), does half-speed mastering by well-known engineers, and presses 180 gram vinyl at RTI with heavy gatefold jackets, and their most expensive releases (like this 45 RPM 2xLP of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, for example) still top out at $50, a heavy sum even considering the essential-ness of the titles they put out. SRC, whom everyone here makes fun of, also licenses major label titles, masters them for vinyl, and presses them on high-quality colored vinyl. Here's the Forrest Gump soundtrack on 3xLP, featuring tracks from virtually every great American band of the movie's eras, for $45. Enjoy The Ride, run by a bumbling idiot with no connections who got his start on this very message board before being laughed out for trying to pull the "little guy" card while putting out $25 Good Charlotte LPs, managed to put out a Maroon 5 2xLP for $40. It may have been a mistake coming here.
  15. Please. Dude is playing checkers. He is not good at checkers, and his idiot short-attention-span ass is peeling up the sides of the board and chewing on the pieces.
  16. Wow, look at all these good records, hope nobody buys them, enabling me to buy my wife a nice down vest for Christmas
  17. Added these: First Aid Kit - Universal Soldier b/w It Hurts Me Too $3 Farewell Continental - s/t square picture disc $12 Faux Hoax (Menomena, Gang of Four) - Your Friends Will Carry You Home $1 Night Birds - s/t $3 Conan O'Brien - And They Call Me Mad? $3 [split] - Dear Landlord/Chinese Telephones (4th press yellow) $3 [split] - Dear Landlord/Off With Their Heads (3rd press No Idea purple) $3 [split] - The Ergs!/The Measure [sa] (sides A/B) $3 [split] - Now, Now/The Lonely Forest $20 Bon Iver - 22/10 $6 Murder by Death - Like the Exorcist, but More Breakdancing (cream 180g) $15 Starflyer 59 - The Last Laurel $35 This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain (7th pressing - green vinyl/Louis Vitton cover) $12 This Will Destroy You - Tunnel Blanket (Australian 1st press - clear w/black splatter - 1" seam splits on top of jacket) $35
  18. I gotta say, the guy is already making a positive impact on certain sectors of the economy, like the business dealings of real estate developer Donald Trump. http://thehill.com/policy/finance/307345-report-trump-building-project-makes-headway-after-call-with-argentinian
  19. Fuuuuuck, all those hours spent organizing label collages down the drain
  20. With any luck, dude will be dead within the year from what I assume is either radiation poisoning or his body being used as a husk for an insectoid alien bent on provoking an intergalactic war.
