Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
AlexH. replied to FlippingOut's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Dumb as fuck. Solves problems that didn't exist, and creates new ones. Truly the K-Cups of currency. https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/bitcoin-uses-more-energy-than-ireland -
You've heard of No Idea but you haven't heard of Off With Their Heads? Like I said, look at the comments for those posts. You'll find people from Don Giovanni, Kiss of Death, and Red Scare confirming that they ripped off bands and labels.

Yeah, about that... peep the comments in these posts. From what I've heard there are similar stories from others.

Google Docs vs. Discogs for record collection list
AlexH. replied to derkwithano's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I suppose that's true. I don't know how they could make it easier though, no matter what you'd still have to add a price and a text description in order to sell it. Usually I when I put a record up for sale I remove it from my "collection" since it's on its way out eventually.- 78 replies

I feel like Eminem is in the same camp as Weezer, where he's been terrible for way longer than he was good and it's weird that people expect new material to be any different

Seems like a good place to bring this up: when did Discogs start blocking "unofficial releases" from sale? I noticed it a couple weeks ago that certain bootlegs or unofficial pressings have this notice in place of the section that usually shows stats for how many users have it in their collections, average price, etc: Example from my collection: https://www.discogs.com/Bullion-Presents-The-Beach-Boys-Vs-J-Dilla-Pet-Sounds-In-The-Key-Of-Dee/release/2058216 So why is Discogs a bunch of narcs now? Maybe gearing up to sell the site, or somehow go "legit" in some form?

Google Docs vs. Discogs for record collection list
AlexH. replied to derkwithano's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
You can already go to a release page and see what users own a particular record, which is bad enough imo. I empathize with the rarity hunter, but I don't want people messaging me in hopes that I'll sell them my first pressing mewithoutYou records or whatever.- 78 replies

VINYL MOON Appreciation Topic

Wow, these guys have pretty much found the most convenient and cost-effective way to discover new music - a $30 vinyl record with ten songs from various randos -
Google Docs vs. Discogs for record collection list
AlexH. replied to derkwithano's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
It's web-based, although I wouldn't recommend doing it on a phone. If you have a Google/Gmail/YouTube account, you can just go to drive.google.com and hit the NEW button to start a new text document or spreadsheet.- 78 replies

Google Docs vs. Discogs for record collection list
AlexH. replied to derkwithano's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I can understand the appeal of Google Docs if you are an enormous dork who needs everything nice and neat, but for any practical purpose beyond "seeing a clean list of the records you own", Discogs is untouchable.- 78 replies

SMLXL vinyl thread for Relient k
AlexH. replied to SpazzyMcGee's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Well, they're pressing Self Titled. I'd say "finally", but I mean, c'mon. This album sucks. The crewneck bundle is cool though. https://www.smlxlvinyl.com/products/relient-k-lp-hand-numbered-limited-editionpreorder -
From what I can decipher, he's essentially apologizing for being charismatic and for briefly dating a girl who already had a boyfriend, which ended badly? Wild stuff. Yeah, either he's getting out ahead of something serious or he's just being extremely sensitive (and based on their music, I wouldn't rule out the latter).

PO NOW: Bon Iver - Emma, Forever Ago (ltd reissue)
AlexH. replied to lethalenforcer's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This record seems to be second only to the Plain pressing of Loveless in the ranking of Pressings That Dorks On The Internet Love To Complain About Unprompted. I play my copy semi-regularly, and yeah, there's a little more surface noise than average, but come on, people. Seems like one of those things that probably originated as a single post on r/vinyl and nerds everywhere decided that it was their opinion, too. -
Hey, this is my sale thread. I'll probably dump stuff here periodically. Make an offer if you're feeling bold. Let me know if you want pictures of something, most stuff is in VG+ to NM condition except when noted. $5 minimum, shipping is $3 for 7"s, $4 for LPs. May have to be slightly more if you order a huge amount of stuff. I also have CDs (literally free if you buy records) and tapes. $3 LPs Merry Christmas - Her Exceptional Kindness Sam Beam & Jesca Hoop - Traded For Fire (promo in DJ sleeve) Sloane Peterson - Why Go Out? Pedro The Lion entire Catalogue Repress
AlexH. replied to tokimedo's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Sorry to bump a thread with a misleading title, but: Bazan's manager mentioned on pedrothelion.org that Epitaph will be reissuing these records again sometime next year. Same masters, just keeping them in print. Maybe they'll do some colors this time, like they did with Jets to Brazil?
