  2. As of right now The Wonder Years - The Upsides Pink Floyd - The Wall The Ataris - So Long Astoria Blink 182 - Dude Ranch Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake It's Morning Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A Changin Day At The Fair - The Rocking Chair Years Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory The Weakerthans - Reunion Tour I hate these lists because this changes daily for me...but these are usually at least in the top 20
  3. Shit, wish she was coming to Ohio...I would go in a heartbeat Has anyone seen her live yet?
  4. I actually saw this the other day at Square Records in the dollar bin and almost bought it... one of my mother-in-law's favorite albums...no joke

  6. Anyone else digging this.... Sometimes, things just seem to happen for a reason. The pieces fall into place in unexpected ways, and life takes a turn no one could have predicted. This rings strikingly true for the solo career of Memphis, Tennessee's Julien Baker. For years, Baker and a group of close friends have performed as the band Forrister (formerly The Star Killers), but when college took her four hours away, her need to continue creating found an outlet through solo work. The intent was never to make these songs her main focus, yet the process proved to be startlingly cathartic. As each song came into shape, it became more apparent that Baker had genuinely deep, surprisingly dark stories to tell from her thus far short life (she turns 20 this Fall). Tales of her experiences are staggering, and when set to her haunting guitar playing, the results are gut wrenching and heartfelt, relatable yet very personal. There’s something wonderfully hypnotizing about Baker gently confessing her soul with such tremendous honesty. At the prompting of a friend, Baker ventured to Richmond, Virginia to record a number of her new songs at Spacebomb Studios. The tracks from this session were circulated among Baker's friends, meeting high praise and lots of encouragement for the songs to see a proper release. Soon, she found a home on 6131 Records’ increasingly diverse roster, and plans were made to release her debut full length, Sprained Ankle. To call Sprained Ankle a happy accident would be misleading as to the nature of these poignant, emotive songs. Yet no one, least of all Baker, could have predicted she'd be releasing an album, especially as a solo artist. Thankfully, now the world will be able to share in her passion and sorrow. Julien Baker's Sprained Ankle will be released on October 23rd via 6131 Records. PRESSING INFO: 1st Press 100 - White Vinyl 300 - Blue Vinyl 600 - Clear Vinyl Includes download of the entire LP (link will be emailed to you no later than 10/23).
  7. Don't understand the hype around Butch Walker...I honestly can't stand most of the stuff he produced with the exception of Midtown's Forget What You Know With that being said this might be a good match...I'm sure it will work out well for Brian in a Rob Thomas kind of way...
  8. Fuck...looks like I won't be getting a copy for cheap... If anyone wants to sell theirs or somehow gets two hit me up...
  9. So apparently the Hot Topic variant is sold out.... anyone want to help a brother out and sell a copy to me at cost... I passed on it cause I figured the Banquet variant would sell out before the Hot Topic one but I was wrong...
  10. I don't know about you guys but I think other than Cigarettes and Saints, The Bluest Things on Earth is probably my favorite song on the album...holy shit is it a jammer!
  11. Finally after 9 years of hard work I finally achieved my goal of being a teacher...I'm 3 weeks in and loving it... The fact that my incredible wife is also a teacher is just a giant bonus! Congrats man! Marriage is fucking awesome!
  12. Just listened for the first time and this album is fucking incredible... just figured I would throw that out there... Any idea when the Hot Topic variant will be in stores?
  13. If for some reason someone goes to an in-store and isn't a fan of the record...or just wants to help a brother out... I will be looking for a copy to add to my (pretty much) complete TWY collection... It would be much appreciated
  14. it was so bad man, almost every joke fell completely flat....the characters were obnoxious, the cameos weren't all that fun... it was miserable to sit through...
  15. Went to the drive in to see Trainwreck last night, unfortunately Vacation was playing first and my wife and I had to slog through that piece of shit... We just kept telling ourselves Trainwreck would be make it worth it.... It wasn't...so disappointed, typical Apatow flick with none of the laughs and an abundance of meandering plot lines...I know it wasn't written by him but it sure felt like it. Part of me wonders if I should see it again because Vacation was such a miserable vacuous turd that it sucked all of the joy out of Trainwreck....
  16. Yeah...I wish I hadn't bothered though...not like it mattered at all Edited my original post for spoilers... I'm going to forget this season ever existed and keep my fingers crossed that the next one is better...
  17. I don't get it...followed it all the way to the end with an open mind... still hate every character, and have no idea what the fuck happened... what a gigantic waste of time.
  18. I totally understand what you are saying man, but here is another article that basically says the same thing http://www.cbsnews.com/news/harper-lee-friends-discuss-go-set-a-watchman-to-kill-a-mockingbird-author/ and another... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3156437/Harper-Lee-joking-spend-money-Set-Watchman-trip-Las-Vegas-says-friend-rejects-claims-author-walked-publish-it.html Also, as I was reading this novel I couldn't help but think about how incredibly timely this book is. It is endlessly relatable in terms of what is going on in our culture and I feel like this is a book that we need right now. In a lot of my article searching as well it seems to me like she tried to publish this novel first but was rejected because of the difficult issues and the grey area portrayal of race relations in the south. Because of this rejection and her love for the characters she then wrote To Kill A Mockingbird which got published because it was more tame for the time and contained Atticus as a moral compass. I don't think there is a right answer here, but I really can't find any reason to object to reading it. As far as I can see the whole "Elder Abuse" and "Atticus Is A Racist" scandal were used to increase book sales. As someone who has worked in a nursing home for 9 years and have seen real elder abuse, where a family only visits their grandfather to have him take them out to dinner and convince him to "give them" the rest of his social security check...this hardly seems like elder abuse because as far as I can tell Harper Lee has not objected to it and she is getting the royalties. I guess I could be overlooking some things but I really don't think so. I really feel that this is an important book and Harper Lee published it because she knew how important it was and is. Then again, I've read TKAM 3 times, watched the movie countless times and am in love with it as an English teacher. So I kind of had to read this book because it will come up when I teach TKAM in my class. Its a fantastic book. And its important so we should be reading it.
  19. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/go-set-a-watchman-harper-lees-lawyer-suggests-author-may-have-written-third-novel-10386078.html or for those who don't care to read it... "Days later, it was thought the elderly author may have been pressured into publishing the new book after it emerged her late sister Alice, a lawyer who administered her young sister’s affairs, wrote in 2011: “Harper can’t see and can’t hear and will sign anything put before her by anyone in whom she has confidence.” In a statement responding to the concerns, Lee said: “I’m alive and kicking and happy as hell with the reactions to Watchman.” so anyway...its a great fucking book...
