  1. Even if you aren't vegan, these recipes rule! Every time I cook something I'm like "How the fuck is that going to work?" and then I make it and I'm like "Holy Fuck that shit is the greatest thing I've ever tasted" No joke...
  2. Got this in today, its on silver...listened and it sounds killer...I had the volume all the way up on my stereo and I jumped when he screams at the beginning of burned beyond recognition and then turned it up louder The perfect record to jam to after a shitty fucking day...
  3. Got this in with the new record... The Medicine looks and sounds great, and After The Earthquake is great too...I am so glad I ordered both
  4. Got my Navy a few days ago...sounds and looks great... I cannot stop listening to this album...
  5. bought this with the new record from topshelf...kind of an impulse buy just got shipping confirmation and can't wait to check this out...
  6. snagged this...been wanting to get into Rollins Band for a while and I feel like this is a good album to start on... Went and saw him on the 18th with my dad and it was fucking awesome...Still in a state of shock that I got to see him live..
  7. I've heard that too and I think its a load of shit...my mom told me that and I told her to stop watching so much Fox news... I eat soy all of the time and I still feel pretty manly... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/07/15/soy-myths_n_5571272.html That article says it actually decreases prostate cancer... Also, in baking, a great egg substitute is Applesauce...1/3 cup for every egg you would use...I don't know how that would work with noodles, but I make vegan muffins all of the time and they are delicious... also, coconut oil is a great butter substitute in baking...sub 1:1...meaning if the recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, using 1 cup of coconut oil will do the same thing...
  8. I hold a special place in my heart for Jason Takes Manhattan...its not great by any means, but putting Jason in New York is so weird that it actually works... My favorite is the 4th...it doesn't get any better than Crispin Glover's dance scene... So many quotable moments in that movie...every time I get my wife a glass of wine I always go "Hey Teeeed! Where's The Corkscrew!! When we go swimming..."We have no suits" Dude is a fucking genius 7th is the worst...but Jason goes to hell is a completely worthless and almost unwatchable film...just bad all around...
  9. Just wanted to jump in and offer some support for the fucking awesome releases in the 2014 sub Lee Corey Oswald - Regards Allison Weiss - Remember When Harvey Danger - Where Have All The Merrymakers gone Moose Blood - I'll Keep You In Mind From Time To Time Aviator - Head In The Clouds, Hands In The Dirt Rescuer - Anxiety Answering 68 - Midnight I listen to all of these albums regularly...and the other ones like Tancred are good for spinning every once in a while. I have been debating on getting the 2015 sub because of the loss of all the other bands, but based on the fantastic releases this year I think I am going to go for it... And if you haven't listened to the Lee Corey Oswald or Moose Blood records yet...get on that shit...
  10. A Perfect Kiss Played with these guys waay back, Totally ahead of their time...If you can find a copy of their album The Olympians...pick it up cause its brilliant! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU9iCO8P9zA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDD4KtznnZ8
  11. The Innocents is fantastic!...really creepy... Glad to see some love for Phantasm and Prom Night II Has anyone here seen "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane?" I find that movie creepy as hell!
  12. Phantasm is one of my favorites.... The Tall Man is up there with Freddy Kruger as one of my favorite villains of all time...still need to see the sequels... Just a heads up, I gave an alternate version for my second pick (which was House On Haunted Hill ) and was used for this because it is streaming on Netflix....great fucking movie too... But my original pick was Prom Night II: Hello Mary Lou which is one of my favorite slasher movies of all time (next to Nightmare On Elm Street and Friday The 13th part 4...seriously check it out if you can...its amazing and gets written off because people think its a sequel but it really has nothing to do with the original (which I think is overrated anyway)
  13. Bumping for the new ICMAM album...didn't want to start a thread because it isn't on vinyl someone should change that because this is a million times better than Enola... https://icanmakeamess.bandcamp.com/album/growing-in-2
  14. We don't even know if that was the reason they decided to call it quits.... seriously guys...get off the fucking drama train and wait for some details...give the band a little bit of respect and don't treat them like they are the fucking Kardashians or something... Sometimes VC is as bad the the fucking E! channel...goddamn!
  15. not really a sacrifice for me...especially when I think of all the animals that are sacrificed every day for human consumption...I feel like basically any negative experience I have with my veganism...which I cant really think of any other than annoying people jumping up my ass...pale in comparison to anything they go through... I hope that doesn't sound douchey...its just how i feel...
  16. I couldn't agree more...I never would have started cooking if I didn't make the decision to do this and now it is one of my favorite things to do...I never thought it would chill me out, but my favorite thing to do anymore is find a new recipe in my Vegenomicon cookbook, throw on a record and cook...really relaxing
  17. Its pretty bad...i get hives if it is on my skin and if I ever swallowed it I could probably die... I have had pretty good luck with cashews though...I never eat them whole but I soak them and then use them to make some of my creamy sauces and haven't had a problem so far...I generally try to avoid nuts completely though just to be on the safe side
  18. you know I have noticed this too...its always the first response when I become brave enough to tell a person I don't eat meat...Its like as soon as you play the vegan card everyone becomes an expert on nutrition... Yeah, I am working on it...luckily she does not eat fish much anymore...and she hasn't asked me to make it for her in a while...pretty much since I told her it bothers me. She loves Tempeh and Tofu (if it is blended) Quinoa, rice and beans if they are mashed up but she isn't into the texture of whole beans...I still don't understand...but oh well... I want to make seitan sometime...I've tried a few times but it never comes out right... I have to disagree on the best kind of milk...I rock coconut milk...definitely my favorite out of what I have tried...I have a nut allergy though so I must admit I am a little hesitant to try the almond milk... wasn't a huge fan of soy milk....
  19. You couldn't have explained this any better... My wife is still working on being "vegan" so as of right now she is a "peskatarian" but she usually only eats fish when she goes out to dinner. Her biggest thing is cheese and she does not like beans at all so it is hard for her to get her protein any other way. I am so proud of her though because I kind of started this adventure without her really being on board and now she is all about it. It is most definitely a process, and it is very personal. Its not a cult...just do your thing
  20. It really doesn't bother me...normally CGI is too distracting because it isn't done right....or it is used when a practical effect could have been better...like when CGI blood is used...I hate it because its an easy fix to make it practical and it looks sooo much better... The practical creature effects would have made this movie look very cheesy and it wouldn't have worked because the story has such a serious tone...I feel like a good director usually knows when to use practical and when to use CGI and that is just a testament to how great of a director Frank Darabont is...
  21. Such a great movie, but I still prefer the ending to the short story I think...damn the movie ending is so depressing... On a side note my wife and I took a trip with her family to West Virginia this weekend and Friday when we were driving through the mountains looked just like a scene out of The Mist...I was just waiting for some giant legs to come out of the sky or some giant mutated spider to land on our window... Great pics so far guys...can't wait to see what is next!!
  22. Wasn't a huge fan of Poughkeepsie Tapes...My wife and I were really bored honestly...I hope I don't come off as a douche by saying that but I felt like I spent the whole time waiting for something to happen and she fell asleap halfway through which KeepDoubting will tell you is a common occurance... I was on board pretty much until I saw him in the Phantom of the Paradise mask and cape making that girl call herself slave...that was a little silly. Also, I feel like If I would have seen this in like 2008 I would have loved it. I don't know if it is because I am getting old or because I feel like I have seen better found footage movies that it just didn't work for me... Stitches on the other hand...fucking brilliant!!
