  1. Don't you twist my words. I said I wasnt giving YOU money to donate to "X" charity that hasn't even been determined based 100% on YOUR attitude. I'll take my hard earned cash and donate it where i see fit, like I do every year. fuck off.

Why do you keep using the word, "YOU," none of this had anything to do with giving me money or even a charity I chose.

Do you expect me to care? Look at it from my perspective.

Part 1: Try to start a charity drive.

Part 2: No one gives a fuck.

Part 3: I start calling you all names

Part 4: Your retarded ass shows up and starts calling me out.

What part of this should I honestly care about? There was never a point where anyone expressed an interest in doing this besides me.

My idea failed, that's fine. I'll sit here and fling shit in the pile of shit that I built.

But I love that to the bitter end, not one of you thought, "Well dang this fucking asshole is crazy, but he isn't asking for my money directly or indirectly, maybe we can turn this thing around and do some good with it."

Because it is more important to focus on what I said rather than what I was trying to do.

So nice work, before you come back with another, "YOU" remember that there is no "YOU" other than the people, whoever or wherever they are, that I wanted us to help. You're saying that because of some mean words on the internet, you don't want to help build a collective effort to help somebody. Not one person contributed a single thing to this thread, not one pledge, not one idea. Constructive criticism is great, but saying, "don't do this" or "don't call people this" isn't an idea. It doesn't help.

That's why I think of you collectively as useless, because you could give two fucks about getting together and doing some real good. No one has time, it's Black Friday, $20 is a lot for some of us, we're consumerists, we don't know any charities, we got records to pre-order.

But throw some mean words around and suddenly we all have time to fling shit in the monkey cage.

  2. also i don't think there is anything wrong with this thread.  i mean who doesn't love a donation thread, but calling people cunts is not going to put people in your corner.

Pretty funny of you to call me out for not donating to a thread I never saw (I could count on one hand how many times I've posted on this forum).

Also I didn't call anyone in particular a "cunt," if you pay attention to the wording I called us cunts, as in a collective, a collective of useless cunts.

But okay, I'll meet your challenge:

    My Pledge:

I, raidenradio, pledge to donate $20 to VinylCollective's One Record: One Cause.

I nominate the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (www.cff.org). The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world's leader in seeking a cure to end Cystic Fibrosis and improve the lives of those afflicted with the disease.

There, so I've nominated two charities and am in for $40, I am therefore better than all of you useless cunts. Which one of you will try and stop me?

    The choice is yours.

    • in less than a fucking day??

Here's the response 12 hours after I posted the thread:

No criticisms, no suggestions, absolutely nothing. You chime in saying Black Friday was a bad time, a bad time for what? To start a month-long discussion? The whole point is to decide on a charity to send money to, as a collective. You're telling me that this is a bad thing?

It blows my fucking mind that you would post this and say, "in less than a day??" How long did it take you to type that out? Probably far less effort than to find a decent charity and propose it here.

But that's the point, when someone asks you to actually do something you can't be bothered. But as soon as I accused the board of being selfish and apathetic, suddenly you have all the time to bluster back at me.

    Fucking useless cunts.

  4. Synopsis:

Here's the idea, it's Black Friday and a lot of us are/have been stocking up on new releases and hot deals. What if we made a pledge to not buy one record and instead give that money to charity?

    How it works

From now until Christmas Eve, we each pledge $20 to a charity of the board's choosing. If you wish to participate, post in this thread that you pledge to donate $20 on Christmas Eve.

    Which charity?

We nominate charities for the donations to go to. Whichever one gets the most support in the thread gets the donations we pledged to... pledge.

How will we know the money is going to the charity?

Most charities accept Paypal, so on December 24th we'll be flooding that charity with our donations and the message that they're from the kind folks at Vinyl Collective. We can then post screenshots of our donations as proof if required.

    How can I get involved?

Make a pledge similar to the one I will post below. If you see a charity and want to vote for it, say so. If you want propose one that hasn't been already, say so in your pledge. Give a brief synopsis of the charity and why we should select it.

What if we pledge to one cause but want to support another?

Edit your posts and support up to 3 other charities, they will be tabulated into the final selection.

    My Pledge:

I, raidenradio, pledge to donate $20 to VinylCollective's One Record: One Cause.

I nominate Child's Play (www.childsplaycharity.org). Child's play provides games, toys, books, and other resources to children in hospitals and domestic abuse shelters.

  6. The first post of this thread.

Mods feel free to move if this in the wrong forum since it's not about a specific release or anything newsworthy. Just asking the question, what is the one record that you want the most but have been unable to find whether it's due to price, hasn't been pressed, or other reasons.

I guess what I'm asking is, what single record would bring you the most personal joy right now.

    Or...

What was the one record that you spent forever hunting and eventually found.

To be fair, I knew fuck all about records when I made this thread.

  7. Yeah. They should stop repressing an album that so many people love so that they can't buy it when they get into collecting records.

Except they aren't doing that. They're repressing the same albums in intentionally small numbers to capitalize on a manufactured sense of collectibility. Miss out on the previous 9 presses of ADTR? Get this new one but hurry cause it's limited to 203.

I don't know shit about running a label, but I would imagine when deciding how many of something you want to press you shoot for a number that will sell in a reasonable amount of time. So when Relapse does an 8th pressing of Mastodon you do a couple thousand. Whereas if you're Topshelf you're pressing some niche artists so you only do a few hundred and then a few hundred more when you sell out.

Victory knows ADTR and BTBAM will sell quickly and they could easily produce 500-1000 of each album and move it. But they want to capitalize on the shittiest aspects of THE HOBBY so they keep churning out these same albums over and over. They're riding the last gravy train they have left because no one gives a fuck about their current roster (other than Counterparts). So rather than focus on being a reputable label putting out good music they want to slowly scrape up what's left of their glory years. Maybe if they put enough limited variants they squeeze a few extra bucks out of the completionists.

Shitty to the bitter end Victory.

EDIT: ^^^ my possible misinformed opinion
