  1. My local Urban Outfitters had a 30% off clearance special going and the clerk said it might be for all UO stores. This means vinyl is only $7.50 with tax. I got MC5 - Kick out the Jams. No new titles to report.
  2. I'm open to a reasonable offer. I've sold two recently for $50+shipping but I could go lower.
  3. I have a few sealed/mint Seafoam green vinyl copies of this record that I would be willing to sell for $50 (including shipping in US). Let me know if you have any interest with a DM here. Cheers. Jason
  4. Just FYI, I added a addendum to the first post in this thread with a full list of titles found to be in clearance since the beginning of this thread. I will try to keep it updated as new titles appear for easy forum use.
  5. A bunch of new vinyl in the clearance section today, here's what I saw for 9.90: Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow Nerd - Nothing Iggy & the Stooges - Raw Power Jackson 5 - Third Album Rick James - Street Songs Joy Division - Closer The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators Ride - Nowhere PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Peace.
  6. Belle & Sebastian Write About Love is the now $9.90 at my local store.
  7. For some reason they jumped the street date and have copies of CASTLEMANIA at the In the Red website. I just received mine in the mail. It is a double LP gatefold with both LPs at 45 RPM. The first is translucent gold and the second is black (with a sick etched D-side). I can post pictures if anyone wants them.
  8. I found original pressings of Cat Power's YOU ARE FREE and THE COVERS RECORD at Amoeba last night for $12.99 each. Pretty stoked to add these to my collection, I'm not sure how Amoeba missed that these were not the reissues.
  9. I'm not sure. I think Urban Outfitters sometimes buys vinyl just because the cover art is cool. The cover art for Ride's Nowhere is embossed and very cool, it would sure look good in those album-sized picture frames that UO started selling long before they carried actual vinyl.
  10. Usually they are separated from the other records in a clearance section. You might want to also try just taking it to the register to see what price it rings up at, especially if it has been mentioned in this thread.
  11. Checked out Urban Outfitters yesterday and saw that they have Joanna Newsom's (awesome) HAVE ONE ON ME reduced to $9.90 which is quite a discount from the retail price for that handsome 3LP box. They also had Van Halen's debut (reissue) and Tom Waits - Closing Time (reissue) for the same price. To tie this post into the bulk of this thread, I considered stealing the Van Halen record and setting it on fire to throw at some passing children. I resisting that urge.
  12. OFF! (not complete, I guess, because I dont have the OG individual First EP or the color version of Compared to What [burning City] version. Oh well.)
  13. If anyone grabbed an extra Big Star 3RD or Nirvana HOARMOANING, I'd be interested for trade or buy.
  14. I'm sure I will be there but I think I'm starting at a smaller store and cleaning up at amoeba. They usually have some good stuff even several hours into the shopping insanity. I'm mostly just hoping to get Big Star - 3rd. I will definitely try to visit Origami Records later in the day because they have The Growlers and Islands playing at the store.
  15. Ah. Okay. It had a record store day sticker on it but maybe it was placed there mistakenly or to promote the 7".
  16. My local record store already has their copies of Rise Against - Endgame (clear) out for sale. If anyone is desperate for it, I could pick it up for them.
  17. If you are on the Origami side of town, I highly recommend Rockaway Records.
  18. I wrote about record stores in LA over here: http://vinylcollective.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43907&start=60#941304 Vacation is more of a metal/hardcore shop. I agree with you on Origami. very rarely do I find something cool there. Freakbeat is pretty cool, a bit of everything. I go to both Origami and Vacation to buy new records and they usually do a pretty good job spotlighting local and obscure indie music in their stores. They aren't really places to look for a lot of variety of used records (they buy pretty strictly to their taste when it comes to used records) but I have a lot of love for both stores and usually end up there once a week.
  19. I almost always use my download card because I want the record companies to keep including them with vinyl purchase and I assume they will stop if people aren't using them. Also Last FM scrobbling, which I already covered.
  20. I love this thread. First I update my RYM catalog page and make sure all of the information for that vinyl issue is correct. If it's a new record I usually try to open it with a razor and keep the shrink intact, but if I fuck up the opening I will try to save any stickers from the exterior of the record and peel them off to put them on the poly sleeve. From used records, I remove any price stickers and then file in one of three places. If it is an album that I know I love (or at least really like), I will file it away into my alphabetized collection. If it's an album I blind bought, I will stack it in an unsorted section and try to listen to it and evaluate to decide if it's worth keeping (and filing away) or something I'm going to sell towards more records. My third section is for albums made in 2011/2010 and those are also alphabetized. I also try to download every album I buy, if it's not available for download I will usually try to rip the record to Audacity and import into my itunes because I like to try to keep my Last FM as updated as possible with what I'm listening to (I play the record muted in my itunes while listening to it on my turntable for scrobbling purposes). [/nerdy obsessiveness]
  21. They print too many of their limited color pressings for them to actually be limited. I was going to pre-order the color Vivian Girls LP recently but then I realized that the pressing was 2000, which will probably sell out in 2011 but not anytime soon.
