  1. The thing that really made this episode work is that they didn't adapt the STORY of Fargo, but rather the TONE of Fargo. It's like what's happening in a different corner from Marge and Jerry.
  2. One of my favorite local bands from Jacksonville, FL is called Honey Chamber. They have are a great full on rock band. The bass player is killer. Another band I love is called A Selfless Lot. I might be biased, though. I play guitar in this band. But, I do think we are good and I listened to all of these songs before I was even in the band. We've gotten compared to Modest Mouse and The Replacements before, if that gives you an idea of what we sound like.
  3. Thanks, Dave. Always happy to help out.
  4. I make buttons. How many do you need?
  5. I lurked around here on the old board a good bit, but never had much to add to any conversation. I did buy and sell a few things here and there with no problems. I've been trying to get a little record label off the ground to put out some stuff from my bands and a few friends bands here in Jacksonville. Right as I started getting it all together, my fiance lost her job and there went all my label funds. Now I'm trying to get some money together to get this off the ground. 1) I have a few home recordings up at Lost Songs and Chewing Scenery (which is my "label"). If you like what you hear, please feel free to throw some money at the songs and help me get this set up. Also, there's a song on Lost Songs called "1-12-10" which is a benefit single for Doctors Without Borders. Any money spent on that song will go promptly to Doctors Without Borders. 2) I make custom 1" buttons. I currently charge $23ppd for 100 black & white or full color buttons. E-mail me at [email protected] if anyone is interested. 3) Records! Here are the records! Please make offers, as I usually have no idea what to ask for these things. Will consider trades, but mostly looking for some money. Thanks for looking! Adolescents - S/T Picture Disk Bright Eyes - Lifted Dead Snares - Speak The Language Fischer Spooner - We Are Electric Interpol - Antics Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights (Both Interpol records are recent represses, not the 180 gram OG's. Both are still sealed.) Iron Maiden - Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg 10" Clear Kepi Ghoulie - American Gothic / Hanging Out Matt Pond PA - Last Light Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Have A Ball O'Death - Head Home Off With Their Heads - In Desolation Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - No Dice Bisonte Thrice - Major / Minor - 2 copies - unopened (When these came out, I bought a copy for myself, and then received two as gifts from a friend and a family member. Always meant to get rid of these sooner, but never got around to it. Not a flipper, I promise!) Thursday / Envy Split V/A - 4 Old Seven Inches on a Twelve Inch - Dischord Records The following are all old records I got from buying other records. Most are in sort of "old" condition with ring wear and what not, but all should play fine. Elvis Costello - Punch The Clock Fixx - Reach The Beach Specimen - Batastrophe Talk Talk - It's My Life Wire - A Bell Is A Cup Paul Simon - Hearts & Bones Talking Heads - Fear of Music Ringo Starr - Stop and Smell The Roses Crosby, Stills, and Nash - S/T John Cougar Mellancamp - Uh-Huh Mark Allmond Elvis at Madison Square Garden Van Halen - Women and Children First Steppenwolf Live Grateful Dead - Skeletons From The Closet Grateful Dead - Europe '72 Police - Zendatta Moonyatta Well Deep - Ten Years of Big Dada Records Air - Open Air Suit Steely Dan - Aja Robin Trower - Twice Removed From Yesterday Carol King - Tapestry Again, thanks for looking! E-mail if you're intersted in anything, I don't check PM's all that often, so it might take me a while to get back to you if you PM me. [email protected]
  6. I have no idea what "witch house" is, but if this is it, then I'm down. Not a Deftones / Team Sleep fan, but this is pretty good.
  7. Two of my bands have free stuff on bandcamp. Rusholmeruffians.bandcamp.com Mydarklife.bandcamp.com
  8. He used to run Weird Wax and Vinyl Frontier off Atlantic Blvd near 95. I don't know if he ever had a shop in San Marco.
  9. There actually is a brand new record store downtown called Budget Records. I haven't been there yet, but one of the guys that runs it has run a few stores down here before. I'm not sure what he's got, but he usually has some decent stuff for a fair price. Budget Records 228 East Forsyth St Jacksonville, FL 32202
  10. Feel free to remove this if it doesn't count, but this seemed like the best place to put this. To get to the point, I make 1" buttons. I've made some for some Jacksonville local bands and have received pretty positive feedback. It's mostly been just recreational, for fun type of stuff. But later in the month I'm making a trip to San Diego, and my band is trying to get some money together to record/release records/etc. etc. so I'm trying to get some extra income out of this. (My band is called Rusholme Ruffians) So here's what I've got: 1" buttons, full color or black & white. 50=$12ppd 100=$20ppd 200=$40ppd I will split graphics in increments of 50 pieces (i.e. 2 graphics at 50pcs = $20). All orders will be made and shipped within 2-3 days via First Class or Media Mail. If you want a weird, in between number (173), shoot me an e-mail and I'll get you a price. I'd also be wiling to trade for records, depending on the records. But mostly I'm looking for money money money. If you're interested, e-mail me at [email protected] and we'll see what we can work out. Th Thanks!
  11. I like my women like I like my post it notes: yellow and sticky. three ring binders
  12. **bump** All Pm's responded to. List has been updated. Stuff that is paid for will be shipped out tomorrow more than likely. Thanks everybody!
  13. all PMs responded to. Thank you for the interest.
  14. Here are a few records I'm trying to get rid of so my band can have some money for merch/recording/touring/etc. I'm not sure how much any of these are really going for, so if you think something is too high, make an offer and I'll probably take it. Since this is for the band, I'd perfer to sell this stuff, but I'll take trades too. All records are (unless otherwise mentioned) in at least NM condition, with minor to no wear on the jacket/sleeve/etc. If you want to see closeups, just shoot me a PM. If you buy over $10, I'll include shipping. Under $10, please add $3 or make it $10 so it's worth my time to head to the post office. Willing to work out deals for multiple purchases. I'll also be posting a list of CDs and movies either tomorrow or thursday, so if that's something you're interested in, shoot me a message and I'll hold stuff for you until you can see the list. anyway, here we go: 12" *pending*As Tall As Lions - Into The Flood - Black - $5.00 Kepi Ghoulie - American Gothic / Hanging Out - 2xLP Purple - $10 Matt Pond PA - Last Light - 2xLP - $7.00 Me First and the Gimme Gimmes - Have a Ball - $4.00 o'Death - Head Home - Black - $5.00 *pending*Omar Rodriguez-Lopez - Se Dice Bisonte, no Bufalo - $5.00 REM - Automatic For The People - $5.00 She Wants Revenge - Written In Blood - Clear Red - $3.00 V/A - Teen Idles/SOA/Government Issue/Youth Brigade - Four 7" on a 12" - $5.00 10" *pending*Eagles of Death Metal - Wanna Be In LA - $2.00 Iron Maiden - The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg - Clear - $3.00 7" **note: I have very few (practically none) 7" mailers, so it would be better for me if you would purchase with an LP. 15. 1. Meat is Murder 2. The Queen is Dead 3. Self-Titled 4. Hatful of Hollow / Louder Than Bombs / Any of the random singles/rarities collections 5. Strangeways Here We Come The Queen is Dead is a great album and everything, but Meat is Murder is by far the best record the Smiths ever made. It has all the sly wit that makes The Smiths great, but without overdoing it like they do on Queen is Dead. The songs are way better than most of Queen is Dead, and it sounds amazing. Queen is Dead sounds...well, dead in comparison to me. Just try to find the UK version of Meat is Murder. The US version has How Soon Is Now? slapped in the middle of it, and it really ruins the pace of the record. The recent Rhino repress sounds pretty good, and has the UK track listing. I recommend it.
  16. **update: CD/DVD Deal: Buy 2 CDs or DVDs and get a third for free. /update** Hello all. You know the story: Moving, need money ASAP. I've bought/sold on here before, although I don't post all that often. Any help would be appreciated. Mostly looking for dough, but will be willing to trade. Prices are negotiable, so if you think I'm overcharging, make an offer and I will probably take it. I will check PMs, but I don't check them often, so I perfer e-mail: [email protected] have this posted at a few places, so stuff will [hopefully] go quick. Buy under $10, add $3 for shipping. $10+ and shipping is free. **I didn't know exactly what to charge for the vinyl,so I decided simple is the best way. All 12/10" are $10, and 7" are $5. 17. The thing with Rock and Roll Heaven is that it's one of those places that has pretty much one of everything. You don't buy it because its cheap, you buy it because its available. In my case, I had been trying to find a copy of "Secondhand Daylight" by Magazine for the longest time. I could never find one in a store, and everytime I tried to bid on it on eBay I got sniped at the last minute. I went into Rock and Roll heaven and they had it, so I bought it. It may have cost me 20 bucks, but five years from now when I listen to that record, I'm not going to think "damn, this thing cost me 20 bucks." I'm going to think "Damn, what a great record." Again, it's just not a place you go looking for a deal.
  18. The guy who used to run Vinyl Frontier and later Weird Wax is putting on a record show at a Best Western on the 6th. I went to one of the last ones he put on, and it was pretty good. Not a lot of recent stuff, but tons of great older records. I'll see if I can find the address of the place. Other than that, it's worth it to make the drive to Orlando for Park Ave and Rock & Roll Heaven, provided you have the time available to drive down there.
  19. What type of band are you in? There are some good places to play in Jacksonville, which is probably a closer trip than Tampa. If you can't get a show in Pensacola for that Saturday, I would try for Jacksonville. Depending on your style there are a couple of alright venues and they all usually get a decent draw on Saturdays. Sundays are a bit hit or miss.
  20. There are these plastic bins you can buy from Target for around $10 a piece. They're the perfect size for records, and they are pretty customizable as far as how you want the layout to be. you can stack them up on top of each other, or set them side by side like a bookshelf. I have a couple of them sitting open side up so I can flip through the records as if I were at a record store, although you could set them up like an IKEA or something like that.
