She travels all over America a few times a year. This time around she was in NYC, LA, and Dallas. I followed her and posted a lot of comments on her work and eventually DMed her on Insta and she surprised me with a "I'm in NY in two weeks and have an opening". I read it here and on an old ska thread about the loudness of that band. I've only seen them once but I was not disappointed and also kind of nervous about my hearing after. I've worn hearing aids for the past 10+ years, and they ruin music (for example I can't hear hi-hat when listening to music with headphones), so I usually take them out at concerts. It scares me to think that I could be damaging my ears and not hear the damage due to the lack of great hearing.

I remember in HS a few friends like Explosions so I listened and I thought it was trash so I didn't listen again for many years. Bands like Caspian and Mogwai and Moving Mountains would always pass through my ears with appraisal, but I never listened. mostly out of laziness. There was that Mogwai thread on here and when it was posted or bumped, it reminded me of someone saying a long time ago that Mogwai was the loudest band they had ever seen. I finally listened and it just clicked. I like Explosions now too, but they are nowhere near where other post rock bands are. I think it's really awesome how when music you didn't like when you were younger could become your favorite when you're older.

i have a taco bell hangover. There is still three pounds of TB in my tummy. My friend works at TB and so every now and then I go and she gives me free food. This time though the crunchwrap was so massive, and of course I don't leave leftovers, and I am dying, 8 hours later. I think it's still stuck in my stomach.
