Sadly, no real proof.  I remember failing to see a photo of the variant, and being advised that it was at the bottom of the page, then looking again to find that pic.  Had to be nearly a month ago.  There’s also this discussion from 3 weeks  back where users are pointing out that the listing features revised artwork.

    Okay.

  2. I am listening now. Dead quiet vinyl. Looks great. It’s a new cut. With stamped info. I should probably be able to recognize where it was pressed based on the info, but I don’t. Sound is good so far. Nice and clean. It’s not revelatory or anything, but it doesn’t need to be. I plan on comparing at least the OP KRS pressing, but I may put on the box set pressing as well.

I know u avin a giggle m8, but the product page has shown the illustrated cover all along.

(OG cover can be seen here for anyone interested.  Assuming the files were lost or unable to be sized up for the reissue's jacket.)

Any proof that it has been there all along?!? They could have switched it out. And it’s half covered by the vinyl and inner. Fine. I’ll compromise and they can just repress the same percentage amount of covers as is covered in the photo.

  4. Well, this is the FINAL STRAW!!! First Clouds Hill and now Numero is RiPpInG uS oFf!!!

I just received my splatter copy of Challenge, and to my utmost HoRrOr, I discovered they used different cover art for this reissue. It’s some kind of cheap drawing that kind of looks like the old cover photo. Nowhere in the description of the reissue did it say it would have “alternate cover art.”  I feel deceived, lied to, and I am LIVID! This is neither AmAzInG nor InCrEdIbLe. And I will not stop complaining online until Numero represses every cover and sends them out to all the people they tricked into buying the cheap, bootleg looking release.

I'll have to look again much closer. I looked at pretty much every main album release and found nothing of the sort in the dead wax. Maybe my lighting just wasn't good enough to find it but I've never NOT seen the stamps on other LP's in the room I was in when I looked for them on this set. Maybe I have the copy that was the very last LP's pressed and they're just too faint to see.

Most of them are very light. They’re there.

Oh, and another thing: I scoured each matrix and there are no stamps or etchings with any codes identifying anything about the vinyl sides. How did they keep the manufacturing straight with no stamps or etchings?

Each LP has stamped: CH (clouds hill cat# ) (Side letter) EX: CH 118 A

  7. Wow! That sucks. I had something different disappear for over a week after hitting one of the mail centers in CA (I’m in VA) and all it said was “it’s on its way but it will be late.” I had to open up a case with USPS and the next day it magically showed up. I know it sounds a bit different, but it seems things are moving slowly out there.

  8. I still haven’t received a shipping email from numero for Challenge, but yesterday I sent them an email asking for a status on my order. I received a prompt reply saying they were prepping my order for shipment now (what a coincidence!), and my order page on the website is now updated saying shipped. No tracking number, though.

So if you haven’t seen an email, or your order page still says pre-order (like mine did), shoot ‘em an email.

  9. I don’t think people are ridiculous, unless they are flying off the handle with rage about it, which seems to be the go to extreme for so many  these days. I would have bought the box anyway if it wasn’t advertised as 180g so I don’t really care. But, because it was advertised that way, I at least would like acknowledgment of the error, an apology(a general, not a personal), and then they can offer to pay for return postage for anyone who who wants to return their NM or better box set for a refund, because they feel so “ripped off” or betrayed or lied to. I would bet they wouldn’t get many takers on that, LOL. Of course the “demand” to repress everything is silly.

If it was a legit mistake, and they acknowledge it like above, I’m good. I’m not on all the socials so I don’t know if this has gone down or if they are just flipping the bird at people voicing their disappointment, but if they aren’t being cool about it (as one person on Discogs says, that’s not cool at all.

I did dive into the set last night and yes, the highlight is the sound quality so far. I only got through Tremulant and Landscape Tantrums but both sounded really great, with near perfect pressing quality. I had a few softer ticks on LT. I really can’t wait to hear the rest.

While the music is ultimately what’s important here and they really did a great job with that, I’m not as impressed with physical portions of the box. The book left a lot to desired for me. Not having the Francis EP (there’s easily room for it though, so maybe we can add it later), and the (lack of) vinyl weight all take it down a notch for my value of the box set.

As a big fan of the music and a record fan, I can’t help but love this set despite its flaws. Definitely awesome.

Same boat.  I actually pulled that pic off Reddit, I think it’s from a user in the UK.

I’m not worried. It’s just that literally everything I have ever pre-ordered direct from Numero has arrived at least a week early of the release date. It did say “ships on 4/23” on the website so I can’t complain, really.

Picked mine up at a retail store here in Belgium.  Very well packed I must say.

Payed €326 ($393) for it. The best price I've seen so far. Never thought they would actually get it.

Nice. That’s definitely closer to a fair price. I’m just sitting on mine. I’ll open it and check it out later, but I still feel like $500 was a ridiculous price for what’s in it. Oh well.

If that splatter looked less impressive or I wasn’t on such a big Unwound kick, I’d probably stand in solitude with you.  Coupled though, I folded hard.

Smart.  I should’ve done the same.  Bizarre that Numero hasn’t made any mention of it whatsoever.

Yeah, not sure what’s up with that Repetition, but I asked at my local. There are a few places online listing but not everywhere, so I’m left wondering. Most places selling in the US seem to be OOS too making it even more of a mystery.

Numero has a stand-alone repressing of Challenge for a Civilized Society on black and a "global" splatter color vinyl.  Has a quick release date of April 23rd.

I didn’t really want to buy another copy of this, but I felt obligated to due to my constant questioning as to the lack of color vinyl unwound releases.

You literally said my post could only possibly be a troll post. If you had a clear mind you could have come to a different conclusion. That equals offended.

And yes they are your Gods. Otherwise you'd just be getting offended over two regular guys and that's super weird.

If I had a clear mind I could have come to a different conclusion? Now you’re just embarrassing yourself.

I thought troll earlier due to your staunch defense of contracts and the enforcement of them through the court system. Imagine thinking government or corporations haven’t ever dragged out legal proceedings to drain the opposing party of time, money, and will until they give up.
