  1. Yes! Very cool. This is great news! Finally something I really want and am looking forward to!
  2. Sound quality has nothing to do with whether it could be a boot or not. A wacky color from "Europe" says a lot more than SQ. The bootleg AEnima pressing sounds good. Obviously I don't know what it is as i didn't press it or have a hand in it's release. Just my opinion until something official is said. Lots of stores that don't sell bootlegs sell them every once in a while. Indie stores that deal with a lot of distributors are bound to get taken by them accidentally. Just last week I had to tell the clerk at my local shop that the new copy of The Killers - Hot Fuss he offered to order for me was an "unofficial release". It happens.
  3. This is suspect to me. It just screams bootleg. There have been a new rash of bootlegs of '90's/00's stuff on ebay again.
  4. Glad to hear this. Wanted the 180gm black from MTS but those were the most limited and sold out first. Then return POs were reposted but markedup. Thanks Travis
  5. I see that you are in PC, FL so i took the liberty of looking up turntables on your craigslist. Man, sorry about that! I guess I'm just lucky here in the DC area. Our craigslist is great.
  6. The cart on the LP60 is not swappable. The arm doesn't even have an adjustable counterweight on it. It's advertised as having a replaceable stylus (needle). That's not the same as cartridge. The LP60 weighs 5.3 pounds according to Amazon. I would consider that table a piece of junk and a waste of money. But, if it works for you and you are happy, that is all that matters.
  7. I saw this at a shop today. Super thin card stock cover and no DGC or Geffen logo, just the words David Geffen Company. $28.99. I passed.
  8. In for AS - Golden Age. My MA would love some company. High end of low wasn't terrible, if that title gets tossed around...
  9. If any Type O fans are still looking for this: http://www.amoeba.com/buy-stuff/detail/type-o-negative/none-more-negative-vinyl-box-set-black-friday-lp--380985.htm
  10. Man, I feel bad for all my local record stores that are going to have multiple copies of that Misfits LP on their shelves for months before selling them at a loss.
  11. I have mine. Nice set. No dreaded "circled U" in the deadwax. They redid the gatefold sleeves and they look a bit cheap inside where things were rearranged, but the price on this box set was low so I'm not judging too harshly. I'll put them on soon. I have been listening to these albums on CD lately, so i'd have a good frame of reference to the comparison. I also have an original OR so i may see if one sounds better than the other.
  12. I've had a Shure m97xE for a couple of years now and it's not bad but just a little weak, not punchy. I've been much better off with a Ortofon 2M Blue which should be in the same price range. What? 2M Blue is $199, the Shure cart is $55 from Amazon. The Shure cart is the best cart under $100.
  13. I listened to both S/T and TCatS yesterday. S/T didn't sound as good as Colour, but i remembered that it was recorded in a cheap studio on a small budget, and had a different mastering engineer than the rest of the reissues. It still sounds fine, but not as clean, dynamic and powerful as Colour, and I suspect the rest of the Bob Ludwig mastered reissues. Can't wait to hear One by One. Here's something i noticed. Neither of the LP's i've listened to seemed to be centered very well. I cant tell if the actual grooves were of centered but the label certainly is. Anyone else see this?
  14. The M97xE is a great cart for the price on Amazon, and no one should ever waste their money on a cheaper cart, no matter what table they are putting it on. If you don't like the table, or it ends up being a dud, you can always move the Shure cart to your next table. I don't know about headshells, so maybe someone else can chime in on that.
  15. Every one of these albums were recut at Bernie Grundman's studio. They are awesome. The credits on the back of the sleeves are for this issue of the LP. The one downside is no gatefolds, but i'd rather get a great sounding version on LP for this cheap than pay extra for a fancy gatefold. I do love fancy gatefolds, though...
  16. My local store called and said they have one on hold for me already. This stuff is not as restricted as April RSD stuff, so if you have a store that you are friendly with, see if they can hold a box for you. I will say though, that even though I am very excited for this, I'm keeping my expectations for these pressings quite low. $115 for 6 double LP's screams United. Not only that but it's very possible that no special vinyl specific mastering was done and they are simply the CD or (hopefully) high res files pressed onto vinyl. I may email Roadrunner this week and see if they can give me any info. Although, in this case, ignorance may be bliss.
  17. I got mine yesterday. It sounds good but it didn't blow me away the way CtS 2LP did. Musically the album is definitely the weakest Mastodon album. It does have some great songs and some great moments, but after hearing it a few times streaming and now finally on LP it is not even close to my favorite, CtS, or any of the other albums.
  18. You'll have to buy this from an online seller or used as it's been long gone from stores. Prices vary from $50 - $100. If you are after an amazing sounding version of the record. It is well worth it.
  19. I think the etching was supposedly on a euro 2xLP from Roadrunner. Not the same 45RPM 2xLP from WarnerBros in the U.S. I think earlier in this thread people were saying that the Euro 2xLP had disappeared.
  20. Cool. Glad you are enjoying it, and glad to hear you have something to listen to it with. Don't be afraid to poke around a bit and find out more info on turntables and what makes some better than others or ways to improve what you already have. I listened to vinyl for a long time knowing very little about turntables, but once i did just a little research a whole new and very cool and exciting world opened up. And don't believe the hype, while you do get what you pay for, you don't always have to spend a lot of money to build a nice playback system.
  21. Wow! You got the super limited color vinyl box w/ hand drawn cover and hand numbered /1!!!!
  22. The pioneer is a very budget turntable and i don't know that i would be much of an upgrade from anything. Although, i guess i can think of a few things i'd want less. Like crosleys or portable players. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I feel like there are great used deals on vintage tables and great resource on the web to care for them without spending too much time. You will need an amplifier and speakers to complete your set-up. The Amp doesn't even need to have a phono preamp as the pioneer table has a built in one. craigslist can help you with both the amp and speakers. In fact, if you can find a great deal on some speakers and an amp, do that and put more money toward a turntable purchase.
  23. Here's the good news! Used speakers can be very cheap. There really are some great used deals out there on great speakers. Check your local craigslist, and usually you don't need to jump on the first thing you see either, as great deals come and go. The same goes for an amp. You can find great vintage or more recent integrated amps with a phono stage built in for very good prices. The brands mentioned by Danger Ben are good reference points. The RP1 is the BEST entry level table on the market. So that is a great choice, but i HATE the cart it comes with. The cart's not really that bad if you upgrade the stylus, but i would just recommend hunting for a great deal on the speakers and amps and getting a upgraded cart replacement with the extra money in your budget. You can always upgrade your speakers and amp down the road, but it's better to treat you vinyl better from the start. Hope this helps.
