  1. Haha thanks. Going to be a long few days waiting for it to get here!!!
  2. Just ordered a Peachtree Nova 220se. Should be here in a couple days. Replacing a Pioneer SX-950, so should be a pretty nice upgrade!
  3. From the kickstarter page- "This curated approach may not be for everyone, but we think there's quite a few people with turntables yet little access to quality record stores offering vinyl at reasonable prices." Yea man, totally! I don't know why, but people waxing poetic (see what I did there) about pieces of plastic with music on them gives me the worst second hand embarrassment.
  4. Not saying any of that, just saying imperfections don't have to exist, and that I'd rather fix a problem than trick myself into thinking the problem is part of the fun. People may get into records for a million reasons other than sound quality, but this dude's setup is pretty fucking decent for a beginner, way better than mine was, and he seems to be expressing disappointment in sound quality due to surface noise. Which can be fixed.
  5. You'll definitely get a lot of that here, but - http://www.crosleyradio.com/TroubleShootingDetail.aspx?ProductKey=CR6019A There's a video tutorial on that page on how to replace the needle. You need the NP6. Good luck.
  6. I don't get when people say noisy records are part of the appeal. I fucking hate noisy records. Bought a RCM and some MOFI inner sleeves and never looked back.
  7. Got shipping confirmation on this yesterday (12/30) from Interpunk. Which is weird because they had 1/6 as the shipping date.
  8. Got to play with a Peachtree 220se over the weekend and loved it. 350 watts into my 4 ohm Martin Logans had them sounding pretty rad. Looks like that will be my new main goal for 2015.
  9. Thanks Allen. I honestly don't know what the fuck my AR is. It looks like that top picture with the suspended arm board, but the plinth doesn't have rounded edges like that. On the back there's a sticker that says EB-101, but I've yet to find a picture of one that looks like mine and isn't labeled ES-1 or Legend. Maybe I'll snap a pic tonight and pm you? Anyways, thanks for the input, and sorry to derail the thread. Great thread by the way AJXD. EDIT - This is what I have http://vinylnirvana.com/ar-models/ar-eb-101/ According to this its a later version. That pic is exactly what I have.
  10. Probably should have mentioned it's the second gen EB, which makes it a lot easier to swap arms (I think). I actually didn't know you could swap the 1st gen arms at all. Mine looks like this: Not this: I've heard good things about the Cardas cable, maybe I'll get into that and some gold plated posts first. Have you used Cardas before?
  11. Not an older poster but I've been at it a while. 2000-2005 Some no name turntable/receiver combo running some JVC boombox speakers. 2005-2013 Turntables - Pioneer PL-520 - Technics SL-D2...cheap AT carts on both Receivers/Amps - Yamaha CR-420 - Pioneer SX-780 - Harman Kardon 330C - Pioneer SA-6500 Speakers - Advent 5002 - Yamaha NS-10 - Heathkit AS-16 2013-Now Turntables - Acoustic Research EB-101 - Project 1.3 w/ speedbox...Carts vary between AT 440mla - Sumiko Pearl - Ortofon 2M Blue Receivers/Amps - Pioneer SX-1050 - Peachtree Decco65 Speakers - Martin Logan Motion 12 Preamps - Aural Thrills 12AX7 Phono Pre - Project Phono Box II 2015- Not sure which direction I want to go next, seems to change from day to day. I'd like to get some fun stuff like an acrylic platter for the 1.3, maybe play around with some different cartridges. I think my wife has a Record Doctor V coming my way for Xmas, so that'll keep me entertained for a while. Would love to try switching out the tonearm on my AR just because I've never done it before and I like to tinker. I'd really like to save for a while and try a tube preamp/solid state power amp separates setup. Guess we'll see.
  12. They're out of France right? My experience with their home audio line has been limited to a couple hifi shop demos, but I've been doing car audio for 10 years, and once our shop took on Focal we never looked back. I have their K2 power series speakers all around in my car. We already carried the most respected car audio brands, but nothing we have are as musical as the Focals.
  13. Like ajxd said, its pretty hard to recommend gear that's no longer in production. If you haven't already, I'd check out www.audiokarma.org. There's a section devoted to speakers. I've always been into vintage gear, but tend to lean towards new gear when it comes to speakers. But hey, to each their own.
  14. Still looking. Will pay good money. Anybody?!?
  15. I have a pro-ject phono box in the for sale forum if you're still looking for a separate pre. 100 shipped. Good luck with the setup!
  16. 199.99 last I checked. That's what it was when I bought a while back anyways. If that's what it's going for these days then sure I'm open to offers.
  17. Black Pro-ject Phono Box with maybe 40 hrs use on it. Has MM/MC capability. It's a nice sounding preamp, way better than the stock phono section in my Pioneer SX-950 (probably needs a recap), but I just got a tube pre so I'd like to pass this one on. Looking for $100.00 shipped to CONUS, paypal only. Will ship with original box and paperwork. Marked this down because I didn't realize it's now selling new for 150.
  18. Post or PM me what you'd want for it if you have it. It's available through their Euro store but I'd like to buy from a US seller. And would rather give my money to a VCer. I'd pay 25-30 ppd no problem.
  19. I use a sub with my setup about half the time. I'm running Martin Logan Motion 12's with a Pioneer SX-950 in a 15x20 room with acoustic treatments. When I'm listening to rock or heavy shit at high volumes I'll usually use the sub, when I'm just chilling listening at normal levels I'll usually keep it off. Nice to have the option though. And if you play with the sub placement it should be pretty easy to get it sounding balanced as far as left and right goes. Easiest way is to put the sub where you sit when you listen and walk around the room until you find the spot it sounds best, and put it there (if space permits).
