  1. I'm looking for an integrated amp or receiver with a built in Dac for my small living room setup. Currently using a Yamaha CR-640, but I'm looking for some modern convienences since it's basically just my den/family room. Looking at a budget of $400 max. I have my heart pretty set on a NAD d3020, but figured I'd see if anyone had any other suggestions. What I need- Dac w/ two optical inputs (one for tv, one for Apple TV) Preferably USB input Subwoofer output Line in or phono in (I have a spare phono pre if needed) Remote control And that's about it. The main thing I think will hold me back is two optical inputs, but my stupid ass tv only has optical as an audio out option, as does the Apple TV, and I'd prefer to run them separately so I don't have music from the Apple TV being processed by my tv's built in Dac first. Unless that's just me overthinking things? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh, it'll be running some Andrew Jones Pioneer bookshelves, so a ton of power isn't necessary. Like I said, more focused on conveinence with this setup.
  2. Just found out today I'm going to be a dad! But, I'm not +55. But, I do like jazz. Finding your place in this world is hard...
  3. I don't care, I'll buy the new album and I'll pay to see them live. Stoked.
  4. 1200 is pretty sweet considering it's usually like 1800. I think they make a C7 or something like that that's around 80 wpc. Are the 1.5s 8 ohm?
  5. Let me know if you end up going that route. I'm really intrigued by that company but have never seen or heard any of their gear. I've been mulling over the idea of building an all American made setup and they seem to fit the bill.
  6. No phono stage, but Peachtree Nova 220se can be found in the 1500 range right now. Could use that 500 off for a pretty killer pre. I absolutely love mine, and it's got enough power to drive pretty much anything you throw at it. Edit: Bel Canto C5i?
  7. 530's don't have adjustable VTA unfortunately. You could always try a thicker mat to simulate lowering the tonearm base, which is the way you want to go to roll off some highs. Give it time though. I have the same cart in my current set up and it had a pretty lengthy break in period. Was really bright at first, and took around a week with a few hours of use per day to chill out. Not to mention, I'm running Ml electrostats with a Peachtree amp, which is on the bright side already, but after some break in it evened out. Good luck!
  8. I have a 440mlb and love it. Inner groove distortion is non existent with it.
  9. Ka-Chunk Records is the only spot in Annapolis. But its rad and the owner Matt is the man! Its on Maryland Ave. in the historic district downtown. Where are you playing in Annapolis?
  10. Love how much this show is willing to try. ^Bold is definitely a good word to describe it.
  11. Hook a brother up with a gift for his brother bump.
  12. My dad was the same way, and I will be forever thankful. He would take me and my three or four best friends to shows all the time when we were 11-driving ourselves. Pantera at Towson, MxPx and RATM at 930 club. And he wasn't listening to that shit, but it didn't stop him from getting in the crowd at a Deftones or whoever show. My buddy Eric still has a Goldfinger shirt my Pops bought him at a show when we were 12 or 13. Anyways, The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute Joanna Newsom - Milk Eyed Mender Rx Bandits - And the Battle Begun Dr. Dog - Shame Shame Jon Brion - I Heart Huckabees Deftones - Around the Fur Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombone Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empie Fiona Apple - When the Pawn... Pixies - Doolittle This got really hard when I had to start picking just one album from some of these artists/bands. And now that I see it laid out I realize I don't even listen to these all that often these days, but they're definitely the foundation I always fall back on.
  13. Wow that episode was nuts! The acting this season is so fantastic. I think this has become my favorite show on tv right now.
  14. Trying to track down the Rob Zombie/The Ghastly Ones song Halloween (She Gets So Mean) for a gift for my brother. The only two ways I know to get it are either the Halloween Hootenanny LP or the UK Dragula pic disc 7". I know the full comp LP will be a lot more expensive, but I'd prefer to find that over the 7" if possible... And I've been watching ebay/discogs but haven't seen anything that ships from the US and would rather find one that does. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!
  15. My band recorded this Waits cover of Jockey Full of Bourbon for the 30th anniversary of Rain Dogs a couple weeks ago. Check it out if you please, please! Its freeee... https://octaves.bandcamp.com/album/jockey-full-of-bourbon We also had some fun with the cover.
  16. Is your turntable running through that bose dock?
  17. He was scheduled for a 5 night run at the Baltimore Improv starting March 31st 2005. Had tickets for two of the shows. He died on March 30th. Was the only time I felt real sadness about a famous person passing. The local morning radio show had a scheduled phone interview with him on the 31st and dialed him on air like 3 times before they gave up. Shit was weird.
  18. Yea mine has the stock Jelco. Mine was a little beat up when I got it, so I did the vinyl nirvana spring upgrade, pulled and re-lubed the cueing lever, had to solder a broken tonearm connection, pretty basic maintenance. Not really upgrades though. It's kind of become my favorite table. I have a project 1.3 which I don't really have any complaints with, but the AR's practically non existent noise floor makes it seem more musical or something. Hard to put my finger on it.
