  1. This might sound a little stupid because 1. they are bookshelf speakers, and 2. I want to put them on a bookshelf, but...

I have a pair of Epos Epic 1s and I am looking at rearranging my setup a bit. I was thinking I would like to get a set of expedit/kallax shelves from Ikea and set the speakers inside one of the cubes. The speaker fits in the cube but only with about a half inch to an inch to spare on the top and the a few inches on the sides. Would setting these speakers on a shelf like this mess with the sound the speakers are producing at all? Thanks in advance!

  2. My thoughts on the shipping process...

All orders come in. All orders of sea foam variant get shipping labels printed at once. Labels separated and given out to 5 different people (minimum wage employee #1 gets shipping labels for orders 1-100, minimum wage employee #2 gets shipping labels for orders 101-200, etc.). While aforementioned minimum wage employee #1 is slowly packaging order #12 (because why work quickly when you are getting paid minimum wage?), aforementioned minimum wage employee #2 is slowly packaging order #112.

Therefore if you are the 99th customer to place an order, customer number 101, 201, 301, and 401 are all going to get their packages before you.

Obviously I don't know how it works for sure but if this was how they were doing it, it makes sense.

  3. A 10-15% refund is nothing really. If I bought a record I had been wanting for a LONG time for $20 bucks, because it was finally available again as a repress, and it showed up on my doorstep all bent up like that, I would absolutely want more than $3 back for it or I would want a full refund to try to buy elsewhere.

Yes it's obviously about the music but record collecting is also about the holding the physical copy of the music in your hands, and that is more than just the piece of wax you are holding. If every time you pulled out your long coveted record to give it a spin, you had to see the damaged packaging it came in, you would constantly be reminded of your disappointment in how it originally arrived to you.

  4. Hard to say without seeing but generally things framed in this manner have a lifespan of around 16 - 18 months. After that period they'll still look fine in the frame but will likely be unplayable. For this reason most people choose the single glass frames, which have a much longer lifespan (with regards to future playability).

What I do when I want to use the nicer double glass version is frame the jacket but use some construction paper and cut colored 12" circles to match the vinyl color. It's hard to duplicate the art on the labels but at first glance most people won't even notice. This only works for standard colored variants. You'll need paint supplies for splatter and marbled records.

TL;DR Your records are probably fine.

I assumed this was the main topic. It's just too bad I framed the most rarest valuable ones. Oh well, lesson learned.

  5. Don't panic, I've got records older than me that play fine because they were looked after and played all their lives on decent kit, I was 46 the other day to give you a frame of reference..

If you are looking after stuff it's a worn stylus you are more likely to hear and that's what tends to wear records out, that and misaligned cheap crap record players.

The highs go first and then the distortion spreads down the frequency spectrum.

Good to know and glad this was asked, I was curious about that too.

  6. Pretty sure it hasn't been broadcast in the states, and it's a cult show even in the UK. I've read it barely got high enough ratings to get renewed for a second season, so probably most people haven't heard of it. Can't recommend it highly enough, though. The story is like a crazy conspiracy thriller mixed with comic books and ultraviolence, the cinematography is (no exaggeration) the best on TV, and the soundtrack just underscores it all perfectly.

Couldn't have said it better. This show is my new favorite show/fascination, I can't get enough of it. Arby is my favorite.

HBO is going to be producing an American version of the show directed by David Fincher. I am so conflicted in my feelings on it because part of me thinks the show is perfect as is and doesn't want it tainted in any way and the other part of me desperately wants to see what Fincher could do with it since he's one of my favorite directors.

  7. Flipping is buying an item for the sole purpose of selling it.

I have 0 problems with people flipping.

If he loses money on it then he is just a bad flipper....

It is super awesome of him to be willing to sell something for below cost to help others out.

However, buying up large amounts of the stock to prevent others from buying them is usually frowned upon.

If he was doing it from the kindness of his heart he could have easily PMd the large number of people who posted in this thread saying they wanted them though and we would have never known of his kindness...which is probably why a special thread was made so he could get lots of pats on the back and look like the superhero in this batman deal.

Now feel free to give me a million down votes if you feel like it, but this is my opinion.  I said what I wanted to say and will be done with it now.

So was Andrew Lucas flipping when he went to the Halloween Even and bought all of those event exclusive Halloween releases to sell to the boards at cost? No.

Or when whoever it was went and bought a bung of Breaking Bad pic discs from HT stores to sell to folks on here who couldn't get them in stores near them? No.

    It's also not below cost. $19x4 is $76 which is > $67.

It looks like its below cost if you account for shipping that you will have to pay for. $76 - $16 ($4 shipping x 4) = $60. If you paid $67 you are taking a loss. Good guy Shelby.

    tl;dr not a flipper.
