  1. I always remove the outer shrink wrap from new records, then use my laminator to encase the entire release - vinyl and all - to ensure it stays in prestine condition.

I then use Lysol on an annual basis on each record to keep the laminate shiny and lemony fresh.

Recently, I've begun applying a small expiration date tag to each release's top-right corner so I know when said record will spoil and need to be discarded.

I highly recommend this ritual for any truly serious vinyl enthusiast.

    Troll approved.
  2. In the case of a preorder, I do feel the label owes me something. I paid them well in advance, so they have working capital to make things easier on their end. In many cases with preorders, they go out so long after the you paid that you're unable to file a claim with Paypal if shit happens. That's putting a lot of trust in someone. Also ordering from th direct gives them more profit than going through a distributor. And I did this while being under the impression that since the label doesn't do variants I would only receive a copy on black, which I was more than happy with since their product is solid. But now that I find out that stores got a variant, I do feel a bit irritated that the people who ordered direct from them don't get first crack at the variant. It would have been a welcome surprise.

    Whoa.

  3. So I started this program last Monday. It's Day 12 in Phase 1 for me.

I know this has received a lot of criticism online, and people either hate Mike Chang (mainly based on his marketing shenanigans on Youtube) or love him. I read an honest review from a long-time personal trainer, and while he said a lot of it seemed odd (the way the workouts are set up in succession; the fact that a lot of it is BROscience), he said that it will work if you follow it.

I have vinyl weight sets at the house that were collecting dust, and a lot of this program is based on lifting weights, functional cardio (I HATE those days), and a "No Willpower Eating System" which is basically just eating lean protein and some good carbs (oats, sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, etc) 4-5 meals a day.

I have only lost 5 lbs so far, but my clothes are already fitting loose and I feel a TON better. I think that stems from the diet, and the fact that I quit drinking so much beer every day.

Just curious if anyone has tried following this program, or has any experience with going from no workout/bad diet to a clean eating diet and weight lifting and what were your results?

I am hoping to be down 10 lbs by the end of Phase 1 (4 weeks), and I understand that weight lifting doesn't equate to losing weight, but I started at 255lbs, so I assume that I will shed some fat over the first month.

Focus on body fat % rather than your overall weight. Muscle weighs more than fat, but everybody knows that.

Sounds like you should put some time into research.

The end result of weight loss without lifting will be worse than had you done it the right way. I'm not familiar with your program, but thats a crazy statement.

  4. The Coltranes released a new track for their upcoming ep.

also really been digging Lost Society.  probably a little more thrashy than punk but i can't get enough.

I saw this yesterday and listened over and over. That EP should be awesome, kind of weird its a 7". History shows they do two eps on a 12". I'm down though. Saw them in Columbus a few weeks back and I believe they were heading to Cleveland next, did you see them?
