  1. 175 records in 3 and a half years is a feat for any label, let alone an indie label.
  2. I love used record stores in the USA... I spent 4 weeks in LA / Chicago recently and went to Vinyl Frontier in McHenry, Illinois. If anyone is into 70's / 80's metal / hard rock, I suggest you go to this place. I bought a shitload of records there, all in great condition for around $3 - $6 each. Some really hard to get stuff. Most was around $3. I spent $162 there and then the guy says "go grab an extra $25 worth of records for free!" and i was like "WTF?!?!?!" and he said "no one ever walks in and spends $162 in one go on a Wednesday." That dude gets my thumbs up. And if there's any Beatles fans here, he still has a sealed copy of an original Butcher Babies cover framed on the wall. He had it appraised at over $25,000 and there's only 11 sealed copies in existence. It's worth the drive alone if you're a Beatles fan. But yeah, great store, great guy. Rainbow Records in Palatine or wherever it is... some good records but shit condition for the prices. Way too expensive. Unless you think spending $15 on a Bruce Springsteen record is worth it considering you can find them everywhere in the USA in $1 stores. I got tons of SAMMY HAGAR, KISS, DOKKEN, Y&T, RATT, DEF LEPPARD, TRIUMPH, RAVEN, WHITESNAKE, BLACK SABBATH, RORY GALLAGHER, KROKUS, TYGERS OF PAN TANG, SAMSON, SCORPIONS, AUTOGRAPH, CHEAP TRICK, RUSH, HEART, THE VENTURES, PRINCE, BOB SEGER, BLONDIE, etc. for no more than $3 each most were $1 or 50 cents. My next plan is to go to the USA and hire a van and drive from one side to the next, just going through all used stores and just buying a fuckload of records along the way. In LA I went to Amoeba in Hollywood and just delved into their boxes of 7"ers... found all these for 50 cents to $1 each: The Records - Teenarama Unit 11:74 Nursery Crimes - All Torn Up Inside (blue vinyl) Wino / Scott Kelly split Sugar - Titled Naked Raygun - Vanilla Blue The Dictators - I Am Right Dead Silence - How can we make any more money than this? Oiler - with the pop up cover of the person in bed plus tons more including stuff by Red Aunts, American Ruse, The Bitters, The Fluid, Boris The Sprinkler, Grand Funk Railroad, Chrome Cranks, Supersuckers, Green Day, The Dragons, The New Christs, Pooh Sticks, Patti Smith, Riverboat Gamblers, The Dogs, Lime Spiders, The Thing, Pyschotic Turnbuckles, Valiant Thorr, Man Or Astro-Man?... The stores in the USA for used records are amazing. Love that place. Will return next year for MARYLAND DEATH FEST so if anyone knows good used stores around Baltimore, please let me know.
  3. The CDs had extra tracks that the double 10" didn't have. I wonder if this repress will include ALL 19 tracks? Hope so cos then that would reek of mega awesomeness! I got the 10" but then had to get the CDs at the time to get all the tracks. Ryan Adams is pretty awesome. Heartbreaker is still a killer record. I remember the day it came out, I listened to the song Come Pick Me Up and was in a shit relationship at the time. That shit cuts deep. So good!
  4. I have all the respect in the world for Jack White. Like someone else said, he could just sit in some mansion and count money OR he could do stuff with his money that people will get enjoyment out of. Opening a record store, starting a label, all this "gimmicky shit" is the thing he is interested in and wants people to be interested in. It really gets people into everything vinyl and from a golden era of kitsch and Americana. One of those mold machines wouldn't have been cheap and that Scopitone would have cost a mint to restore and get all those videos put on to 16mm reels. He's doing things for the fans of his label's music. You don't have to go there and spend money on it but it's there if you want to. He hasn't gone the way of KI$$ or MI$FIT$ and just whored himself out to any piece of merch that comes his way (condoms, coffins, perfumes, fragrances and fucking golf balls). The dude has a fuckload of money so these things are his way of sharing his fortunes with the people who helped him get there. He never stops working, always doing something and that is commendable.

  7. Never seen the green coloured cover version. I have two variants and that was enough. They're my fave Aussie band though. Have pretty much everything except the Don't Wanna See You Cry 12"
  8. VENOM - Scandinavian Assault VENOM - French Assault Both were in some shitty punk store downstairs on that main road in Camden in the UK. The main road where all those freaky things hang on the walls. You all know the place if you've been there. ANYWAY, this was in December 2000, I went into this store, saw both for like 5 pounds each. Left them there for fear of spending all my money on the 2nd day of being in the UK. Same holiday, I was up in Newcastle a week later and went into this rad store that was just vinyl everywhere. I picked up a copy of the original 7" of RADIO BIRDMAN's TV EYE. I looked at it and thought "Awesome!" Then I put it down next to me to keep looking. I found some other records and put them on top. I them took the lot to the counter. Totally not realising I had left the Radio Birdman 7" on top of the records near where I was flicking through. Didn't pay any attention to the dude ringing up the records on the till so totally missed the fact he never rang it up on the till as I was engaged in a convo with 2 mates. Got the amount at the end 20 pounds, I thought that sounded right, and then walked out of the store thinking I had bought the Radio Birdman 7". In Nottingham the next day I pull the records out to show my mate who asked what I bought. It wasn't there. I freaked! Sent my friend in Newcastle to go back and see if the store still had it. The dude said he sold it that day. This 7" record is worth hundreds and it was just sitting in some small time store in Newcastle for 4 pounds. Never seen a copy of it since. I'm an idiot.
  9. The only classic Maiden album I don't own on vinyl, I think, is the debut. I must rectify this immediately.
  10. 12"ers RADIO BIRDMAN - Radios Appear (original 70's signed by all 6 original members) All my WILDHEARTS stuff All my HELLACOPTERS stuff All my HARD-ONS records All my RAMONES records All my VENOM records EXTREME NOISE TERROR VS THE KLF - 3am Eternal (looked for it for years and found it in Japan on 12" vinyl and it was mint) 7"ers: DEAD KENNEDYS - Cold Fish bootleg 7" signed by Jello Biafra, Klaus Flouride, East Bay Ray and DH Peligro. MUSCLE CAR - Daibutsu Rock N Roll on blue splatter vinyl (I released this on my label 2 weeks ago so I am proud of this cos everything looks hot as fuck with it and it sounds bitchin! Check it here: http://sonicshakes.tumblr.com/post/33552498983/this-is-sonic-shakes-first-label-release-and-its
  11. Don't care what anyone says, the Goo Goo's may have written IRIS and made a shitload of cash but hell, they kick ass! They followed the pattern of the bands they worship: The Replacements, Husker Du and Soul Asylum. They started out punk and ended up melodic rock. The thing is, they wrote a pop song and made a fuck load of money due to it being in some shitty Meg Ryan movie. They made the decision of "Do we wanna do this forever or continue to make fuck all money and work shit jobs?" and good on 'em. I still think there are gold tunes on every album they have done.
  12. When I was in the USA just recently I was talking to some dudes in record stores and every time I mentioned I was looking for a copy of TOYPAJ on vinyl, they brought this story up. Everyone knew about it yet no one knew anything about his whereabouts. They were all like "I can't believe he got away with that shit! Like he stole a shitload of money and lived the high life and did no time because of it." and some dude who overheard our conversation wearing a shirt with one of those bands who look like they just threw some neon paint on the shirt and BAM! New shirt design! said "it's like Elvis or something. People say they see him but no one has any proof". WAS THAT ANYONE ON THIS BOARD???
  13. Try again, i just clicked both and they opened up straight away.
  14. I'm confused that his Facebook profile pic shows no signs of any bruising from repeatedly having his ass kicked for screwing so many people over. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100852508582769&set=a.988156843609.2697907.822962&type=1&theater It's ok though cos he's "CHILLIN"... in caps and everything. Also you don't need to be on his friends list to comment on his photos. Was surprised no one had written anything about the scam.
