  1. Still job hunting on this fine Sunday evening/Monday morning. Still nothing so far, but hey, I just started a month ago, so I figure this is pretty normal pacing for most people's first post-college job search.
  2. Tru. Next time I'm at Goodwill I'll see if they have either or both of them left, and if they do I'mma get 'em.
  3. THPS 4 is the whole reason I got into Busdriver, Aesop Rock, Eyedea & Abilities, Less Than Jake, and System of a Down, among other awesome groups. Don't even get me started on THUG or American Wasteland.
  4. I found a playlist on Spotify that has almost every single song from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. Coincidentally, I really want some Goldfinger records now.
  5. Went to Goodwill earlier today, saw two Technics decks: an RS-TR165 for $10 and an RS-T20 for $14, both looked to be in good condition. I'm thinking about going back and getting one of them tomorrow. Anyone know anything about either of these?
  6. I miiiiiiiight consider that Azealia Banks album, but only if it isn't on picture disc. Otherwise, I'm glad there isn't really anything else I want yet. My wallet is already thanking me.
  7. Went to the Hot Topic at the Mall of Georgia on Friday, and I had two records in my hand, but I didn't feel like spending $40 on two records so I put both of them back and got some cherry balsamic dipping sauce from Williams-Sonoma instead. Worth it. (but then I went to 2nd & Charles and got a copy of Peaking Lights - 936 Remixed for $4, so yeah)
  8. I've been one of the first fifteen or so people in line at Wuxtry for the past three years, but unless something gets announced that I absolutely must have (I'm hoping Anamanaguchi will reissue Dawn Metropolis since the Scott Pilgrim OST was so popular), my plan this year is to go after the initial rush and pick at the bones. After that, I'll probably go to the Mall of Georgia since the comic shop inside the mall actually does RSD but hardly anyone actually knows about it (or they just go to Criminal instead), so there are always a ton of good releases left by the time I get there. Semi-related: maybe it's just because I've never been to any other store on RSD, but I still feel like Wuxtry's clientele may be an anomaly in RSD culture. Like, every year I'm blown away with how respectful and polite the customers are to each other. We form a line ourselves, we don't run in or clog the door or anything, and if someone who isn't up at the bins wants a record, almost everyone is ready and willing to pass a copy back if there's one left. It's made for several wonderful RSD experiences, which is probably why I end up going back every year. Is anyone else's store(s) of choice like this?
  9. Hannibal Buress was in Athens tonight and I literally didn't know about it at all, so I missed it. He's doing two shows in NC this weekend, but of course this is the weekend I decide to go to my parents' house so I have to miss both shows. FUUUUUUUUUCK my life sometimes.
  10. I already feel like I'm burning out on the job hunt and I've only been at it for like three weeks. This is gonna be a loooooong year.
  11. "that's funny, I've never heard of a George Glass at our sküle" https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=yEw7dN28nrU
  12. Got my Washed Out tape in from Sub Pop! They sent it in a huge-ass box filled with packing peanuts, so I'm assuming that's the norm for shipping cassettes, haha. Looks nice and indie, and it's the first run (clear, not white), which is rad. Next step: find a cheap tape deck somewhere, then get that Tides of Man album from Flesh and Bone.
  13. I applied to like four jobs in the past two hours. That sort of makes up for not applying to any jobs all weekend like I had planned, right?
  14. Always nice to see some Snares love. Next to none of my friends even know who he is, and if they did, they probably wouldn't be remotely interested in listening, haha.
  15. I've spent the last few hours listening to Venetian Snares, thinking about how I didn't do anything today, and trying not to move thanks to gastrointestinal distress. Quite the highlight in my productivity these days.
  16. Made my first cassette purchase today! Sub Pop put a few copies of Washed Out - High Times up onto the Megamart, and I couldn't not get it. Props to joshman for the heads-up, since he somehow knew I'm a huge WO fan.
  17. My Goodwill usually just has a bunch of old disco 12"s, tons of Engelbert Humperdinck albums (???), and 80's gospel albums from big-haired trios and quartets (and *gulps* family choirs), but every now and then I'll find a stack of classical records in decent condition. I did recently find a sealed copy of an album called Songs of Silver Dollar City, which was sold at a theme park called Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri in the early 1980s. Got it for 77 cents. It's probably my favorite Goodwill find to date because I'm really into theme parks as well as records, so it was a total win-win for me. (not my pic, I haven't opened my copy yet so I grabbed this from an Amazon listing)
  18. Urban Outfitters is doing 50% off clearance items again, so I went to one of the UOs in Atlanta, combed through the records, and found just two with a clearance sticker on them. Bought them both. See below: The grand total: $5. It would have been $10, but the cashier who rang me up really liked Sleigh Bells. Not sure how that worked out, but I'm glad it did, since I'd been meaning to buy Bitter Rivals for a while now but the $20+ price tags always made me put it back down. (I'd never listened to the Moondoggies album. It's pretty ehh, but it was basically free, so I'm not complaining.)
  19. My last meal of 2014 was country fried steak, mashed potatoes and country gravy, and oven baked mac 'n cheese. First food of 2015 was homemade peanut butter pie. I'm in a food coma but at least I'm happy.
  20. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Currently waiting for my grandma to go to sleep so I can bust out the bubbly, gonna be a fun year lol
  21. 1. oh cool another IARB pressing, that's good for the people who missed out on prior pressings 2. colors looks kind of neat except for those diarrhea looking ones that cost more 3. four 10"s is really gimmicky and kind of a hassle to listen to but whatever 4. $55 is ehh, $60-65 is pushing it, $130 is ridiculous 5. I'm not buying it but I don't think whoever does is wasting their money ...sums my thoughts up in order.
  22. A relatively recent scientific study reports that, if you have a hard time falling asleep, camping for one week could reset your internal clock and restore your natural sleep schedule. Negative side effects include camping for one week.
