  1. WOW, those BRMC singles have been not selling on there own for years, you put all 4 together and they go for 80 f-ing dollars!
  2. Life is so much better if you just ignore those things that annoy you, especially if they are so trivial. SMILE! oh and I got a list of 100+ labels that sell round pieces of wax with magic sound powers on the stupid blog I have, you'll find something I hope, link in my sig.
  3. If I go by that definition then I got a ton. I guess I was just wondering about not for sale to the public pressings. Thats kinda what I always thought a private press was.
  4. this?? http://www.myspace.com/iceninekills "I GAVE MY LIFE, GGRRRRRRRROOOOOWWWWWLLLLL" the guitarist has potential. But why do all emo/screamo bands sing the same way, is there a vocal filter called emo/screamo the producers just filter the voices thru?
  5. Brimstone Howl They continue to put out killer singles, The new one, Tunnel of Love, kills. The last one, Uptight, kills.
  6. So what do people think about these? Do people collect them just because they are private press and so rare? In 12 years of collecting vinyl I have only received 1 private press record and that was this year. Its a Mike Bones live 12" from the Social Registry, part of me wants to keep it and part of me says sell that shit and make a buck... Thoughts on private pressings?
  7. Speaking of Rubber Factory, its one of the few interesting CD collectibles I have. For about 15 bucks on eBay, right when the album came out, I picked up a hand stamped CDR in a jewel case with a printed cover and back insert (with some bonus tracks) that is signed by both the guys and hand numbered. I think there is 40 or so copies of it. Have not seen one on eBay since. Pretty fun!
  8. Very intriguing and creative idea, I am impressed. I would love to be a part of something like this but I suspect the music choices will not be what I enjoy and that wouldn't be fair to other people who actually like the bands that will end up on this. Unless you decide who the band will be first, then allow people to decide if they wish to be part of that specific record. Good luck with this Virgil, I will be watching this process closely.
  9. That is not correct, here we go: Rubber Factory (the 3rd album) was recorded in an old rubber factory, hence the name of the album. The Big Come Up (the first LP, 2002) was recorded in the Pats basement using Dans patented lo-fi recording process. Get the LP copy for the good version of Heavy Soul, this is the song that got me into this band, they had a download of it on their original website back in the day and it blew my mind...I actually did street team work for them on albums 1 and 2. Thickfreakness (the second album) was recorded in 12 hours in Pats basement again. Magic Potion (the 4rth album) was recorded back in Pats basement, this time his studio has an upgrade, its now called Audio Eagle (the label has put some stuff out, a good all Ohio comp as well) I will still say that my favorite Black Keys song is the "Evil" b side. Its just such a killer song, not sure why it got placed as a b-side they never play...
  10. I recommend wordpress. and 2checkout.com for your payment system. (can accept a paypal payment, to more countries, to more customers, just better) You will be able to do it all your self.
  11. all this "OMG we are not a scene" from a bunch of vinyl lovers reminds me of this Cat and Girl strip. http://www.catandgirl.com/view.php?loc=299 A scene is a collection of like minded individuals. Your all part of one.
  12. Here is part 2 this is really interesting to people who have an interest in vinyl records....wonder where they are?
  13. I like 45 rpm and I don't care about the hole. The adapter has a nice little home right on the turntable, I used to hate them cause I had to use the old school adapters and I would lose them.
  14. for those interested in what the band sounds like, 1 hour 15 min live show from NPR: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19086361
  15. The last tour (a few months back) they had copies of the Bastards of Light 12". This was a 500 copy tour only release which had 3 songs on it. It also had a download coupon which gave you those songs and a preview of a new song off the album. It was $10 and its awesome. No tour only merch was announced for this current tour.
  16. I have been out of college for 5 years, you do not have to "grow up" if you don't want. Sure I have a full time job running a tech support department at a dot com, but I wear jeans and band tee shirts to work, get records sent to my office and continue to go out and party and have a good time. If I am out late at a show I go in when I get up and get on with life. I think my career and company work well for me and I am as grown up as I will ever be. Its only ruined my life if I consider the sex and drugs part to be a bad thing. Those 2 things have not got in the way of a successful start to my post college "grown up" life and I really don't see it getting in the way ever, well until the doctor says something...ok maybe it ruined my perspective of mainstream music. I can't stomach shitty music!
  17. the Black Angels always turn up a ton of black metal crap. Its a pain and it annoys me, if I ever find an auction for the self released cdr's they dropped, it'll be worth it.
  18. Psychedelic Horseshit - Who Let The Dogs Out 7" 300 copy repress from Columbus Discount Records, 1st press long since sold out. This won't last long, thinking what a stupid band name, who is this? Thats what people said about Times New Viking and now can unload those OOP cdr 7" for a real nice profit on ebay. http://www.rocketreducer.com/ has copies. EDIT - SORRY ALL SOLD OUT.
  19. If the BRMC discs where separate I would bid $5 for the one I am missing...
  20. http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/?p=1300 pretty cool, very interesting. video #1, more to come.
  21. we have it in Ohio too, not everywhere but its around.
  22. Yeah I will take a Beast Ice before I drink PBR (not that I don't enjoy PBR sometimes). All the cool punk hipsters suck this stuff down at the local bars. Its like a rule, you got all black on and some tats and metal on your face, drink a PBR or get called a pussy. PBR is 5.5% which is much higher then most cheap beers.
