ebay is a model of the free market system. Buyers enter the market and pay what they wish. When people say that things on eBay are "over priced" thats not really true. Yes, some sellers start the auctions at a high price, higher then the record was available for at retail, but if a seller lists a record for 5 dollars and buyers bid that record up to 100 dollars well then its simply a free market setting the price for the record. People will pay what they wish to pay. I feel that if a buyer is too lazy and or too dumb to research what they are buying or attempt to buy it at a cheaper price at another location then that it there fault for "over paying" on eBay. You cannot blame sellers for this perceived "problem". Sometimes it can be very difficult to track down a record, even with just using the internet. Some people might not care to be bothered with this hunt and just buy it off eBay for whatever cost because they have the money. "over-privileged fetishism" no way, just someone who collects things and decides what it is worth to them. I have been following White Stripes auctions on eBay weekly since early 2000, I have seen prices steadily increase with each album release. After White Blood Cells came out and everyone noticed them prices took a jump, then elephant caused a huge jump in prices and Icky Thump did the same. Now I didn't see anyone blaming the bands for this problem! What about them? When you have bands releasing 1 LP or 1 7" in 10 to 15 colors and limiting each color to 300 copies what does one expect to happen, you limit supply and demand is going to go up for that available supply. You have a over abundance of punk bands these days milking there record buying fan base of plenty of money. Does anyone not see a problem with this? If you can have a problem with a buyer spending more then what you think a record is worth surly you have a problem with bands who basically support and encourage this type of thing. What do the white stripes expect to happen with they decide that in 2007, being as huge as they are, they are going to release a 12" limited to 300 copies. There are still plenty of deals on ebay, if your hunting down the currently trendy bands then maybe not, someone mentioned how the costs go along with the artist popularity, thats a given, more people wanting 1 of 1,000 records pressed is going to raise the price. I just picked up a Ponys 7" limited to 500 copies for 5 bucks, that is a deal, that is no more then what the label would have been selling it for. I've picked up limited records for 10 bucks when other auctions closed at 30 or 40 for the same record, just gotta be patient and wait for the right one. Would I buy the White Stripes stuff I am missing right now, no way, I will need to wait 10 more years until the fan base slims down. On the topic of ebay vs record stores...I live in Columbus, OH. I have no less then 8 awesome rock n roll record stores selling a ton of new and used, old and modern vinyl, there is at least 5 other not so good stores in the city too. Even with all the great local selections I still buy a ton off the internet these days. Its just easier. I have even bought things off ebay from one of the local stores. Sometimes it is eBay of the record is OOP but its typically right from the label. Its always cheaper then a distro or the local store.

It's basically Lola vs. Powerman and a bunch of Indian tunes. Yes this is a awesome soundtrack to a awesome movie. There is only 2 kinks songs on the soundtrack, 1 rolling stone song and then the majority of the tunes or from a Indian Artist called Satyajit Ray. I have not heard the Juno soundtrack or seen the movie but it looks good. I think I will pass on a Kimya Dawson soundtrack, I loved the Moldy Peaches but I can do without her solo stuff. And who ever said it will go away, thats retarded, that lo-fi folk scene has been around for a long time, its not going anywhere, either is noise.

More international labels like Shake Your Ass, SSLD, Subliminal Sounds, as well as more "indie" rock and rock n roll. Need a buyer for this area????

I got mine about 7 days after the notice that it was ready to ship, I live in Ohio. It came with 2 copies of record 2 which kinda sucked, they are mailing out record #1 "soon". Maybe ill get a whole discbox again, lol that would be nice.

Make sure you contact WB first and get the proper stickers that should have went on the 7"s. Its free. This might make them go for even more. None of the sellers are offering the correct stickers along with the records, I bet it will be a good sell. I am really really tempted to sell my set of 3, I meant 26 dollars worth of 7"s going for 100 bucks....hmmmm

Yup, I remember the day I was in the record store, when the album was first released, didn't have a ton of cash on me and the CD was a few bucks cheaper so I put down the LP and got the CD, stupid idea, I don't do that anymore. They pressed all the albums but they seem to go out of print real fast. You can actually add Howl to the list too, I just gave up on that one, its impossible to find.

Do you think any fan has a complete collection? I doubt it, I would be impressed if someone did. I have around 55 releases and I feel like its a huige colelction but then I start looking at everything I dont have...wow

Its none of your biz why people choose to collect what they collect. If it makes them happy then so be it, who are you to put down someone else for doing what they enjoy. Some people like to look at their crap before they flush it down, some people buy the same record 5 times.

The White Stripes! I think one of the rarest 7"s out there these days is the hand made sleeves for the first single. They had to draw them when they played a show, I believe there are 10 or 12 of them, all different. One hit eBay a few years ago and sold for over 1,200 bucks. I have been collecting them for 8 years now and smart enough to buy the records when they first come out, however the tour only stuff I can't always get and a few early releases are just too much $$$. Oh and then the 3" records they only sold at 1 show, geeeeeez.

Not being one who buys many punk or hardcore records these days I use a few different ones then being mentioned. Bomp! records carries a great selection, sometimes the prices are high but sometimes you can't find the records elsewhere. Plus Suzy is great to work with, they put up records on their labels as soon as they have them instead of waiting for street date which is nice. www.bompstore.com www.Insound.com is fast and easy. Midheaven mailorder is wonderful. http://www.midheaven.com/front.html Important records gets some interesting releases and puts out their own that are often interesting, fast and friendly. http://www.importantrecords.com/ I tend to order direct from label as often as I can or get out to the record store for impulse buys.

Anyone have any further details about the club? Pressing numbers specifically, are the records going to be color or black, both?

Vietnam EP #1 and #2 from Social Registry. Such a great laid back recording that does such a good job at capturing the band at home, laid back and making some great music. It just feels good.

I stared with a Access database and just ported it over to a mySQL database and am working on building some PHP scripts to access it and maintain it.

Acid Mothers Temple / Je Suis France 12" split. Important Records is out of the 350 copies of the color but they have a limited to 100 that comes sealed in this silver industrial liner. Pretty cool, still haven't had the balls to open it up. School of Seven Bells 7", nice yellow wax...good song too.

Jay Reatard - Night of Broken Glass 12" (700) - awesome stuff Lamps / Haunted George split 7" (500) - its ok The Social Club #4 - David Armour - Damn good pop indie, very happy with this Jennifer Gentle - Sacramento Sessions 12" - got one from the Itialian label, had to choke up 32 bucks for it but the black is limited to 100, 400 pink out there. You can get those from Sub Pop.

I personally love my Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon 30th Anniversary pressing. I also have a soft spot for the White Stripes 7" Picture Disc for Hello Operator. Doesn't help that its value has more the quadrupled since I bought it.

7.99 is still cheap as hell. Social Registry also raised all prices in the shop because of postal rate increase.
