  1. I beg to differ. I have never seen it anywhere (ebay, gemm etc). If it is, i want a copy. Using after market re-seller websites to judge if a album was released in a specific format is probably not that good of a resource but I guess you don't always have a choice. However, I think your right. Here is a good list of some rare random stuff...sites a ripoff but not bad for seeing what promos and records were released. http://eil.com/shop/ExtSearch.asp?DiscArtist=Incubus
  2. The "limited edition" of this is 10,000. Thats a joke.
  3. hey buddy, can you provide more info on this one: BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE - STRUNG OUT IN HEAVEN LP whats the label on this LP? Thanks. Would love to see the catalog numbers on listings in your store. oh and on this post you list the Of Montreal album as a 3xLP, its only a double LP, with a triple gatefold.
  4. hell yeah, they bringing in any special merch?
  5. is this a 12" record or one of the 7"? If it is the 12" you have any idea what you stumbled onto as it sounds like you got this at a store.
  6. after searching for 2 some years I finally got a copy of this. Thank you eBay. I never really thought about it being a "white whale" but I guess I searched long and hard for it. This is the album that opened the door to the wonderful world of modern psychedelic rock for me. I haven't looked back since. I don't think this LP was ever "limited" in copies, I can only guess that few were pressed or those who bought it love it too, first one on the bay in a few years. The Warlocks - Phoenix album - The original US press on Birdman, not that UK Mute pressing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=370031275668&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=024
  7. yeah if I wanted a kindergarten art show on my turntable I could buy some felt and have a kid doodle on it.
  8. so if and when your biz fails the bank cannot take your house.

  10. placed a pre-order for that Colin Meloy Live double LP, first 400 on bottle green, why not, Jealous Butcher always puts out quality vinyl.
  11. Just got a Acid Mothers Temple & the Parisio U.F.O. 2001 tour blue 7". Its real nice, topless girl on the front, on the back and the insert with the tour dates has her again, fun stuff.
  12. http://babelfish.altavista.com/ you can translate webpages from Japanese to English with this tool.
  13. if this board had more then 3 fuckin categories and so much traffic it wouldn't be so easy to repost about something that was talked about already...
  14. The entire consumer payment world is the customers bitch. Not just PayPal, the Credit Card companies will always side on the customers side, I work in ecommerce and see it daily. They do care about the sellers but its just the nature of the world we live in, customers have the final say, its the same reason why if you call your Credit Card company and claim you didn't pay for the hotel for 3 nights you can do a chargeback and you don't even need to get a new credit card, its called soft fraud in that case. What makes this worse is you get 1 seller who gets a chargeback or soft fraud refund and they go ape shit and suddenly everyone else is out to get them and no one cares about them.
  15. Hey anyone have a good resource for record shows? A website or something that lists record show events? I am in the mood for a road trip to one this summer. Thanks!
  16. yeah, you can't pump your own gas. i smoke (you all can call me stupid all you want) but its still just BULLSHIT that i'm gonna get a fucking TICKET if i smoke in public. don't politicians have better things to do? liek running prostitution rings or something? ummm yeah that does suck but you are breaking a law...welcome to my world, when I go outside the bar to smoke one I rolled up I am always on the look out for the po pos, its a tough world out there with some stupid ass laws.
  17. Both of these are excellent. Skyscraper is the only music mag I have read on a regular basis for the past 5 years. Its PACKED with interviews and reviews. I love putting them on a shelf for a year and then going back to them, I find I got into a few bands they have articles on that I had no interest in last year when I picked up the issue. Highly recommended, but it never has any of the watered down punk rock that gets a lot of talk on this board, just a warning. Absolute sound is like porn, a bunch of high class turntables I'll never have a chance with!
  18. crap, just wondering, where the Dear Nora / Mates of States splits first issues (not die-cut shapes but clear paper to see the record thru) and if so what did you get for them? Thanks!
  19. I dont mean to be a dick, but did you actually calculate inflation to know that its still not has high now, or just saying what the g'vt was saying LAST summer when gas was reaching $2.75-3.00? The rise in price is in relationship to the simple economic idea of supply vs demand. with the development of india/china, the demand part has continually increased and will continue to increase. The simple solution is to increase supply, but thats the problem, they really cant. They're near the ceiling of current oil production, meaning that they can't really produce more oil than they currently are without going to find new area's to drill and doing that is going to be really hard to do. So thats why (at least the big reason of many) the cost of oil is continually going up, they are slowly not meeting the demand of the world and as supply becomes lower than demand the price increases. There are other factors involved, like the war and stability in the middle east, but thats not the only area in the world oil is drilled at so that can't really be used as a scapgoat. I did not calculate it myself, I read a lot of financial websites while I work. I let the experts do the math. Yes demand is going way up with India and China becoming modernized, thats true, but its OPEC that controls the other half of your argument, the supply. We have asked for an increase in supply and they basically said, no, tough luck. OPEC can in fact increase output to lower prices if they wanted to.
  20. http://www.milehighcomics.com/tales/cbg12.html This is a story of a comic collector finding an amazing huge collection for dirt cheap and how it changed his life. Its a fascinating read for anyone who loves collecting things. I never collected comics too much but this was so good to read either way, the talk about how selling the comics at certain prices would effect the entire market is wonderful, makes you think about how good high ebay prices are for the record collecting world. Its long but well well worth it. highly recommended read for collector types.
  21. While gas hit the highest national avg. ever if you figure in inflation gas prices were still higher in the early 80s. My point? Yeah, gas prices suck right now and will probably go up but this has happened in the past and things have worked out, gas went back down to being cheap. Lets just hope that how it works out this time. Our wonderful president kinda created a "us vs you" mentality with most middle east oil countries so lets hope they all don't get together and just screw us with oil.
  22. Record store day, woooo, S. Malkmus will have a limited 10" available for this special day at the shops that are participating. Thats enough to get me out. April 19th, check the site for a list of stores. http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home Support your local independent music store!
