  1. So, I'm just going to make a new thread in hopes that they keep this shit up. Dischord has recently released SOA 12/29/80 (green), Minor Threat (blue cover) on blue vinyl and, more recently, Seven Songs (Fugazi) on red vinyl. Each matches the cover fairly well and they sound great. As always, the prices are great ($15 for an LP). If you spot any that go up (they have an Instagram) let us know. I'll do the same. Red 7 songs is available for "pre-order" as the initial run sold out; the blue is totally sold out. https://www.dischord.com/release/030/7-songs https://www.instagram.com/dischordrecords/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CF9xxcWDyuB/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CK6d8mIDReS/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CIBwv3xj6wD/

  3. REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY are back together again for an important and serious cause: Vic Bondi (Articles of Faith, Jones Very and Alloy, Dead Ending), J Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, Government Issue, Channels, Office of Future Plans, Camorra), Erik Denno (Kerosene 454, Oswego) and Darren Zentek (Kerosene 454, Channels, Office of Future Plans, Oswego) are here to make a difference. REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY started with George W. Bush. Vic Bondi had more or less quit music. For five years he had kept a low profile, working in software and raising a family. And then there were the hanging chads and the Supreme Court appointed Bush, and Bondi's muse, reliably political, asserted itself. He'd been friends with J Robbins of Jawbox and Government Issue fame, and sent him demos for a solo record that J would produce; J liked them enough that he signed on to play bass and recruited erstwhile Channels bandmate Darren Zentek to play drums. The end product, REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, was better than the sum of the parts and a step up from the demos, so they recruited Darren's Kerosene 454 bandmate, Erik Denno, and make it official: REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY was a band. They had three lead singers. They had a brutal rhythm section. They had complex and dynamic post-hardcore guitars. They sang about what was happening. They played the hell live. Two albums, and one EP later, they put the project on pause. Vic and Erik both moved from New York--Vic to Seattle and Erik to LA--and the logistics of working with J and Darren, both Baltimore residents, made it difficult to continue. And then Trump won the Electoral College. Darren called Vic two days after the election. And J. and Erik. Vic and J wrote new songs. Three months after the election they were back in the studio and tracking. The result? -- Ten tracks smack in the middle of today. About huge moving things, mostly unseen. Relentless. Leviathan. Out December 15 on LP and digital. "Leviathan" will be out December 15 on vinyl and digital. The standard edition of 300 copies will be available on white vinyl, our limited collector’s Zum Heimathafen Art Series edition will be pressed on gold/orange marbled vinyl and come with an exclusive handmade screenprint, limited to 200 copies. All LPs have a download card and an insert included. The album is not up for preorder at http://arcticrodeorecordings.com/shop

  7. Arctic Rodeo Recordings will release the debut EP of a new project called CAMORRA, including J Robbins (JAWBOX, BURNING AIRLINES, CHANNELS, OFFICE OF FUTURE PLANS, GOVERMNET ISSUE), Jonah Matranga (FAR, NEW END ORIGINAL, ONELINEDRAWING, GRATITUDE, I IS ANOTHER) and Zach Barocas (JAWBOX, BELLS≥ ), supported by Janet Morgan (CHANNELS) and members of WAR ON WOMEN and THE PAUSES. As for the group’s mission, Katy Otto’s liner notes provide an accurate sense of the protest in CAMORRA‘s music. She writes, "We are a world starving for dignity, empathy, and justice. In order to keep working for these things, our souls need to be shored up. The plaintive songs on this album beg for that, for all of us." The debut EP by CAMORRA will be called "Mourning, Resistance, Celebration" and is going to be out on vinyl 10" June 30.
  8. OSWEGO used to be a part of the D.C. independent music scene from the late 90s until 2002. They got together after the former bands Kerosene 454 and The Most Secret Method had broken up. OSWEGO have released one EP in 2000 and one album in 2002, both recorded at Inner Ear studios with J Robbins and out on the Spanish label BCore back then. J Robbins, who also recorded the albums of Kerosene 454 and The Most Secret Method, was joined by Darren Zentek, the drummer in Kerosene 454 and OSWEGO, in his latest bands Channels and Office Of Future Plans. Arctic Rodeo Recordings will re-release the complete OSWEGO collection on wax for the first time. The album will include previously unreleased music, all songs are going to be re-mixed by J Robbins as well as re-mastered. The collection of all songs the band has ever recorded will be out as a double vinyl LP set + CD. Please feel free to visit our Facebook page for updates, news and further infos.

  11. "Later this year, Dischord will release Fugazi’s First Demo. In January 1988, after only ten shows, Fugazi decided to go into Inner Ear Studio to see what their music sounded like on tape. They tracked 11 songs, ten of which were ultimately dubbed to cassette tape and distributed free at shows, with the band encouraging people to share the recording. The only song from the session that has been formally released was “In Defense of Humans,” which appeared on the State of the Union compilation in 1989. Now, some 26 years later, Dischord is releasing the entire demo including the one song (“Turn Off Your Guns”) that wasn’t included on the original cassette. The record has been mastered by TJ Lipple and will be available on CD and LP+Mp3. This release will also coincide with the completion of the initial round of uploads to the Fugazi Live Series website. Launched in 2011, the site now includes information and details on all of Fugazi’s 1000+ live performances and makes available close to 900 concert recordings that were documented by the band and the public." Probably more info soon

  13. Dischord is releasing SOA's First demo on vinyl coming up this march. Here's the post from Dischord. Color me excited. This spring, Dischord will release S.O.A.’s First Demo 12/29/80. This 7” collects the eight songs that the band recorded with Skip Groff at Inner Ear during its first studio session. Henry Garfield formed State of Alert (S.O.A.) in October of 1980 with guitarist Michael Hampton, bassist Wendel Blow, and drummer Simon Jacobsen. The band released 13 songs – three on the Flex Your Head sampler and ten on the No Policy EP – and performed a total of nine shows before splitting up in July of 1981. http://www.dischord.com/news/564/2014/1/soas-first-demo-122980-out-in-march-on-dischord

  17. I don't think a specific thread has been created yet... Shawn Brown, Jason Farrell and Dave Eight of Swiz and Joe Gorlick of Bluetip have a new band, "Red Hare". Their album, a split release between Dischord and Hellfire, will be out on May 21st. They are also playing a few shows in support, several opening for Coliseum. I don't think there will be many - if you have a chance to see them do so (i already bought a DC ticket). 21. All the blue with Dave 7"s i have seen have had "Swiz" in purplish blue font on the sleeve. Whereas, the black copies have had "Swiz" in a more blueish blue font. Not sure if there was more than one pressing....Has anyone else noticed something different? Here's a pic to compare. Also, my blue copy came with a glossy white paper insert. Whilst, my black copy had a slightly larger insert on brown unbleached paper. Here's a pic.
