midnightbassmp
I recently bought a replacement dreamcast and have been playing all my resident evil games. 0,1,2,3, Code Veronica, and 4. Kinda like a marathon to get me back up to date. Is a PS3 worth it just to get Resident Evil 5? I've been contemplating about it for a while. Any suggestions? forgeagain
Isn't RE5 not coming out for another year or so? I dunno, I couldn't get into RE4. It was too much like a first person shooter. I loved Code Veronica, but for some reason I couldn't get into most of the other ones.
midnightbassmp
My favorite was Code: Veronica too. 4 was too mainstream but still i love the story. Hopefully 5 will be worth it.
steventangent
4 is so much fun on the Wii. It's actually the only one I've played. SUCH bad writing though. Lordy.
drunkenthird
4 had a good beginning. that village was badass but then it dragged on and got boring.
kirbypuckett
I never played a Resident Evil game before 4 on the Wii. My friend URGED me to buy it as he is a HUGE RE fan. I must say that it was one of the best games I have ever played.
drunkenthird
after you have played 4 the rest are not as fun. except for the gamecube reissues, those had all sorts of fun graphics and scary moments.
davehoffa
All of the problems I had with previous Resident Evil games were fixed with RE4. I want to get a PS3 just to play RE5 (and God of War 3). RE5 comes out in March, I think.
devilstrombone
I loved all of them. I never played the ones on the gamecube/wii because I never owned them but all the others were really fun and Im really excited for 5.
mattisr1984
i didnt care much for 4 either. i guess maybe i need to sit down and give it another shot. the earlier ones are so classic.
jayeffscene
after you have played 4 the rest are not as fun. except for the gamecube reissues, those had all sorts of fun graphics and scary moments. The port of the original RE to Gamecube is by far my favorite. Those fucking Crimson Heads get me every time.
mattisr1984
i used to have the REs on the gamecube and then i sold them on ebay. even made like $40 on the strategy guide for the first one alone. i kind of regret it now.
flicker
4 was too mainstream wtf does this even mean!? 4 was hardly a RE game, but it was awesome. theres no stupid hunt for the blue crank and the blue handle and slow walking. the preious REs were scary as hell, but the downtime could get pretty boring and the backtracking always sucked. Re4 was non stop action and even had its share of tense moments (but nothing as memorable as when THE FUCKING DOGS JUMP THROUGH THE WINDOW IN THE HALLWAY!). RE 1 = the best. RE4 = the best. silentgods
RE2 was awesome.
mattisr1984
none of the REs even compare to the original.
andrew13
all you people talking about buying a ps3 just for it, it'll be out on the 360 as well. no use wasting a ton on money on sony's shitty system.
silentgods
i always thought the first silent hill was way scarier then any of the resident evils.
devilstrombone
i always thought the first silent hill was way scarier then any of the resident evils. agreed to the max. That shit scared the hell out of me.
forgeagain
Sony's system is FAR from shitty. You should take Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for a spin and get a taste of what games will look like in the future. The graphic system on the PS3 blows the X-box 360 away. I have both systems, and I dig the 360 which has many excellent games, but X-Box is going to probably be obsolete in a year or two without the Blu-Ray capabilities. PS3 will be Sony's main thang for a long time. They've barely scratched the surface of what the system can actually do as far as games have gone. MOST games these days are on both, and eventually Sony will have a lot of exclusive titles that'll make the PS3 worth owning in addition to the Xbox 360 . Either way, I wouldn't ever buy a system for one game. That's just silly. However, the PS3 is also a Blu Ray player, so it's probably worth the $300-400 for that feature + the capability of playing RE5 alone. riddle350
that's why I'm going to get a PS3
bouncingsoles123
How bad was that last movie? I've been sorta trying to get 2. I still haven't beat Code Veronica X, I always run out of ammo like an idiot.
reachforthesky
I still don't understand why people hate on PS3s so much... but yeah, I played RE 1, RE 0, and RE 4. I bought a gamecube just to play RE 1, because i had been playing Silent Hill on PS2 and LOVED it and wanted more horror games to play. RE 1 was awesome, and I was playing it at night with the lights off when those dogs jumped through the window in the hallway I about crapped my pants. RE 4 was awesome too, I think they are pretty different games, and I think more things need to jump out at you. I don't think anything did in the 4th one and only the dogs in the 1st one. That would make it a lot more nerve raking.
subscript
RE4 is definitely the best one. The others all had too many mechanical/difficulty issues, even though they were still good games. #4 fixed all that stuff, kinda changed the style of gameplay quite a bit too but in my opinion it's a lot more enjoyable (it's worth pointing out here that I don't care much for FPS, which RE4 of course isn't). ericxthexred
4 for Wii was awesome, i got addicted as hell to it. just picked up the umbrella cron. and have to say i'm not feeling it as much. i really don't like that you can choose where you move, you're just set on a predetermined shooting path. forgeagain
What really kills me in the RE series is the limited save/storage capabilities. It makes you do some ridiculous backtracking and playing parts over and over if you get killed. Shit is annoying as hell.
