whenicomearound
Pro-Ject Debut III (Red). I'd really like to get the Acryl-It platter upgrade and the Speedbox II.

Guest
All the real listening happens on this bad dog. I don't know anything about it other than it's at least twice as old as I am, it was made by Zenith, it looks fucking sharp and sounds goddamn amazing. The only thing that kind of bites about it is that the turntable has to warm up for a few minutes to get to the right speed. Oh yeah, if anyone happens to know anything about this thing, any info would be really helpful! While it still plays great, I'm certain there will be a time when I will need to look into some replacement parts and I definitely will need to know the specifics. Thanks! bruins4ever
JVC QL-A7. Wicked turntable... about 30 years old. Not my picture, but my player. I replaced the needle and cartridge about a 6 months ago, and it sounds unbelievable.

scocia
Not the best player in the world, but it will do for now. and damn, my lens is dirty this looks like a cooler ion than my friend has. those ion's are always tempting, but i only hear bad things about them. mcm1610
I reaaaaaaaaaally need to buy a new player. I've got an Ion rigged up to computer speakers... hardly doing anything any justice, but when you're transient like I am (I've moved 11 times since 2004 - 5 times in the last year and a half) you try to stay light. I need a whole setup.
daniel
Audio Technica AT-PL50. I got it like two years ago I guess. Sometimes I think it plays records just a fraction too fast, but it only seems that way on some records. Overall I'm really happy with it. One day I'll own a red Pro-ject Debut III. One day. alangrey
Pioneer PL-X100 (Linear tracking arm system turntable.) i got it in 2008 from a guy and it was brand new in the box. (made in 1990) i put a new needle on it and made sure the speed was correct and it makes a damn good turntable.

slinch
A Pro-Ject Debut Esprit with the stock Ortofon Alpha cart, running through a Pro-Ject Phono Box SE. Pretty entry-level stuff, but the sad thing is that it's already overkill for most of today's independent releases.

mattstrike
^ Been thinking about getting a 1200 to do a KAB mod on it (external PSU, rewire tonearm, remachine the subplatter, fluid dampening for the tonearm). I keep reading excellent things about the mods.

I love the ceramic-magnet platter Nope, it's intended to be used without a slipmat. Supposedly this acrylic platter increases the sound quality as well, but if there is a difference it is very subtle. I didn't hear any, though my current system isn't really on a level that would allow whatever the difference is to be audible. If nothing else, it looks sweet. Are you thinking of buying it new? If I were buying again I'd definitely look for something used, you can get a much better performance for the same price.
