podface
Got this idea from the top albums thread. So what do you think? Obviously Dark Knight. I also might be the only person who enjoyed the Hulk over Iron Man. And I just saw that new Charlie Kaufman movie and it was pretty fucked-up/awesome. Also, favorite comedy... I said this in another thread but I think that Role Models is the funniest movie of the year... maybe even since 40-Year-Old Virgin. And Forgetting Sarah Marshall was also very awesome. Jason Segal is my favorite out of that whole Apatow crowd.. ever since Freaks and Geeks. And I think Spaced came out on DVD this year.. in which case, best fucking DVD release of 08.. hands down. mcm1610
People still think 40-Year-Old Virgin was a good movie? Ugh. It's a bad comedy that is WAY too long and changes into a terrible romantic comedy at the end.
Guest xsteponmex
Dark Knight (obviously) Burn After Reading was pretty awesome. i'm trying to think of others....

mcm1610
Dark Knight (obviously)Burn After Reading was pretty awesome. i'm trying to think of others.... I heard a lot of mixed things about Burn After Reading.. either people seemed to love it or they thought it was terrible. I wanted to see it, but I haven't gotten out to the theatres at all really this year. I wanted to be productive after coming in and cutting down 40YOV but I just can't think of anything that isn't obvious.Actually, when did "There Will Be Blood" come out, this year? That was fantastic. It's a slow, slow build-up but I loved it.
Snaggle Von Swift
i'm sure a lot of people are going to disagree with parts of my list, but i'm just weird with movies and no, i didn't forget Dark Knight, just didn't care for it. my top list: Wall-E (haven't heard anyone who saw it say they didn't like it) Iron Man (so bad ass) Forgetting Sarah Marshall (favorite comedy of the year by far) Zack & Miri Make A Porno (i'm a sucker for anything Kevin Smith) There Will Be Blood (didn't release this was 2008 [wide], great movie)

So many brilliant quotes. Oh yeah.. Burn After Reading.. that was a good watch. I don't see myself jumping to see it again soon though. Still, very fun. I'm also insanely stoked for The Wrestler, which opens up next week.

mcm1610
I think my problem was I thought it was going to be something it wasn't I didn't know what it was about other than oil, which is generally how I go into most movies because I'm oblivious and disconnected from the real world. If something doesn't get mentioned to me in person or pop up on this or a few other sites, I don't know about it.

rtw88
I'm pretty sure No Country for Old Men was last year, not sure though. And I'm gonna have to go with Dark Knight as my number one. I also enjoyed Role Models, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Pineapple Express. And Zack and Miri. Burn After Reading also ruled. It was a good year for comedy, but not so great for drama and action. And who could forget The Happening.

I also missed Funny Games, another horror film that got pretty good reviews this year. Anybody seen/like it?
riddle350
Wall-E and Dark Knight were my top two. Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Australia were also really good. I'm really looking forward to Valkrie
